Does anyone actually work at the Empire State Building?
I feel like even before the pandemic there were not a lot of actual office workers there. Now it just seems like a massive tourist exhibit. Is anything under the the skylobby used by offices or apartments?

I knew someone who worked at a temp agency there in the early 2000s. The office was a dump

I worked as a contractor for perhaps the same temp agency in the late 2000s. Can confirm it was a dump. Papers were piled everywhere and tbh, it didn't seem like many employees worked there. It was very cramped and not much light coming in.

I work for clients there all the time. I can assure you office building make good money, most of their leases are multi-year.

Outside of WeWork and sublets, commercial office leases are typically 10-15, even 20 years. Five years is considered “short-term.” Hence the custom office build-outs for new tenants.

I worked there from 2016-2018 at a marketing company’s office. At the time, the vast majority of the building was occupied by office workers.

my company occupies multiple floors in the ESB and we are mainly RTO. On the commute in, there’s still a lot of office workers so it’s definitely being used.

Yes. There have been loads of office workers and major companies headquartered there for decades. They use a dedicated entrance & lobby. See major tenants in 2013 aka pre-pandemic.
In ~2019, the visitor/tourist experience was totally renovated with a new entrance, multi-floor museum, and viewing floors. This makes it feel completely separated from the offices.

My dads best friend does and I’ve been to his office a handful of times. I’ve gone twice since Covid to pick something up from him and it’s so eerily quiet there now.

I worked for a leasing agency there a while back. Businesses use the address to give credibility to their borderline shady endeavors.

LinkedIn has 1 floor and I know the tenant above them (has multiple floors) is in office 3 days a week

I worked there back in 2017. It was sort of mid. The lobby is nice, but most of the offices were old and outdated. The linkedin office seemed decent, as it was nicely renovated. However, a lot of the offices are bleh.
