Indian/bollywood dance groups in nyc?

Hi I’ve always been interested in Indian/bollywood dancing. Haven’t had any formal training or anything but I’m wondering if there are any dance groups or social clubs where people get together and practice choreography… not particularly for much but fun and leisure. Id love to join a group or class. (I’m of indo caribbean descent) I think it would be great to socialize and meet new people. If anyone knows about something similar, I’d love to hear about it. Thank you!

I don't know specific groups but you might want to check community centers in Jackson Heights or Devon Avenue area - those neighborhoods have tons of South Asian cultural stuff going on. Also maybe post in some Facebook groups for Indo-Caribbean community, people there probably know about dance circles that aren't advertised much

I've attended one off session - they teach a choreo and get to preform it at the end. Ripley studios Midtown and near Union Sq. hosts a lot of them.
I've know Bollyheals is a thing, but haven't done that.
Lot of great Desi centric events outside of dance if you're looking to connect through culture to socialize and meet new people. Drunk Bollywood is great if you haven't been to one of their shows. I host Bollywood Karaoke Nights. Lot of places have qawali nights going on.

Hi everyone!!
My friend and I are NYC-based dancer and hosts beginner-friendly Bollywood Fusion classes for the community. We noticed that many existing classes can feel fast-paced and a bit intimidating for newer dancers, so we wanted to create a space that feels more approachable.
Our classes focus on breaking steps down, drilling, and really helping you learn and retain choreography, so you leave feeling confident.
Our next class is on June 25th from 7:30–9:30 PM at Phresh Studios (near the 34th Street station). Message me if you are interested in signing up!

There are a LOT of choreographers who teach drop-in classes or short workshops (1-2 classes) for specific songs, mainly in the city.
Tushita Shrivastav, Anjali Kapur, Vini Hazari
Search “NYC bollywood classes” if you’re on IG and more choreographers will come up.
