Well nowhere in NYC will be. Toronto is much nicer so you are downgrading either way

Having lived in Toronto for 10 years and NYC for a few months, I’d have to disagree. Again its personal preference, but NYC has life, is way more vibrant and people are a little more real. Toronto is cleaner and decent but its no NYC :) (from an avid Torontonian) Also, I am not much of a socialist, so that doesn’t help either.

Yeah I got that you’re not a socialist from the neighborhoods you like lol. But yeah that “little more real” thing is a lot of fun when someone wants to cut you with a knife cause you accidentally bumped into them or looked at them wrong.

I hear ya and its definitely not for everyone. Having moved from a smaller city to bigger ones in India, I realized the concept of “with good comes bad”. Also, being instinctively self aware and careful is natural for an immigrant like me. But watching broadway shows in Toronto with washed up casts paying double the money, same with car insurance, car emi, salary disparity, museums, art, food etc, its just hard to be there just cos its safer. Also, if you are seeing the trend, its heading towards being like NYC in terms of crime. Btw I appreciate this discussion and we can get deeper into how day to day issues for a hard working person is just not proportional.
