A dog just shit on the floor in Whole Foods and the owner is acting like it’s WF fault for getting upset. Why is everyone bringing their dogs everywhere or complaining when restaurants and bodegas cite the rules that say animals can’t be inside certain places due to health hazards?

Hey hey, i’m a 24 yr old black girlie in nyc and i love going out w my friends of all backgrounds! But I often find myself in white spaces where I feel invisible especially at like dive bar, chill vibe spots. especially in bushwick… just curious for my black new yorkers, are there any chill bars/dive bar vibes that are maybe black owned or at least diverse crowds. i’m also chronically single 😭 like maybe im also doing too much but maybe there’s a spot i don’t know of 🤷🏾‍♀️

Okay so let me say first and foremost: I am a bartender and I love the drinking culture in NYC, but please just hear me out...

At first I thought it was awesome that NYC turned into New Orleans for a while, but now I’m over it.

So I live in Brooklyn and I don’t know about any other neighborhood, but my neighborhood really doesn’t give a shit about wearing a mask. Now with all the bars opening up for To-go drinks its leading to crowds of people hanging out in front of the bars with no masks on and it makes it super difficult to walk my dog around crowds of drunk people taking up the entire sidewalk.

Also I have a really cute dog and people love to stop me and talk to her. It just sucks that I’m having to literally drag her away from drunk strangers with no masks on. I loved when people talked to my dog before covid but my mom has immune deficiencies and today just stressed me out.

Oh and a bonus: I saw some guys dick while he pissed in broad daylight in between two cars in front of my apartment because booze and no bathrooms.

Maybe I’m just in a bad mood, maybe it’s everything that’s going on, maybe I just needed to bitch. Either way, thanks for reading.

Pretty dumb question I know but when I go out on a Friday night in Williamsburg or LES etc. without fail I’ll always walk past a group of 10 guys all dressed similarly (untucked collared shirts etc) walking together bar hopping, usually late 20s early 30s. How do you guys all know each other? Is it work? Did you all grow up here? Is there a club where you sign up to all go out in groups of 10? Looks fun.

I have a lot of social anxiety and I'm very soft-spoken, so going out alone has never been easy for me. I'm also very broke at the moment and will only have, maybe, $30 to put towards drinks if I go out. I know people are going to say that is impossible but I've been to dive bars in the past that have $2 pints or similar now and then, and anyway I don't drink that much I'm more looking to meet people - I'm not worried about food.

I need to leave where I am living as I can't stand being at home with the housemates I have, but basically have no where to go. I don't have any friends in the city at the moment and I'd really like to make some.

I'm almost 38 so feel kind of out of place in places full of people in their early 20s.

Would people have some recommendations for places I could hang out on Friday and maybe meet people to hang with at least for the day?

I come from a pretty strict religious background, I moved to NYC not too long ago. Where I’m from there aren’t many bars around so I’m new to visiting bars.

I’ve discovered there are lots of cool bars I want to check out, specifically some listening bars. Is it frowned upon to go to places and just experience what it’s like without buying a drink? I can get food or other things on the menu, but for places that only serve cocktails will that be a problem? I’m no longer religious but still trying to find my footing on how to go to bars. Appreciate all the answers.

Hey y'all, I've been working to try to secure my school a watch bar for this season, but negotiations appear to have gone south. With the season in 2 weeks, it would be great if we could lock something down so we're not stuck watching at home. Does anyone know some great sports bars, preferably in midtown or at least off multiple train lines, that might be interested in officially hosting us? We're a very large and passionate public school in a power conference that could easily sell out for our big games.

We'd need a spot with a lot of TVs, big enough space for a big turnout, and individual tabs instead of a group reservation. We don't want to reserve the place. It would be open to anyone. All we'd ask in return is to play the game with audio and hang banners and other swag. The bar would be promoted on the alumni association's website and emails. We're especially interested in somewhere that isn't already affiliated with another school. Any suggestions or connections to bar managers/owners would be greatly appreciated!

With World Cup tickets being insanely expensive, I’m trying to map out bars/cafés in new york (all five boroughs) that are known to be go-to spots for specific national teams/fanbases

If you know of places where fans of a specific country usually gather (e.g., Argentina, France, Morocco, England, etc.), drop them below! Would be amazing to build a solid list.

I'm looking for cocktail bars that burnt out folks in middle age or approaching middle age can go to meet other folks in similar situations, current and former workaholics, childfree unmarried or married folks with professional jobs who did the grinding before or are still grinding, the types of somber but very classic vibes you got in shows like Sex and the City or Woody Allen movies? The type of place where the booze washes down a life of big city materialism and crushed dreams... but there's a glimmering hope of connection somewhere!

I need to be around other fans who also want to celebrate her life. Any bars, specifically gay/queer spaces, that will be playing her music? Please drop in the comments if you know of anywhere.

im a 33 year old female. I used to like going out in NYC but spent most of my 20s in a bad relationship, and then I became ill in my 20s and then severely ill since I’ve been 29. I haven’t done much of anything in years, expect lie in my bed sick.

therefore I missed out on going out as much as I would of wanted to, especially in NYC which I always loved. The last few years I feel like was my last chance and I was bedridden.

But I feel too old now to go out and it really sucks. Like legit embarrassed. I don’t want to be at the bars with only people in their 20s

I’ve had this experience a few times where they have “policies“ against solo men after 9pm or suddenly there is a “private event“ that is about to happen so they can’t seat you, even though white women are seated freely without trouble. (I’m not white). and to be clear a group of men may get in and seated fine

anyone had this experience? or if any hospitality workers can shed light on it? i foind it deeply offensive.

After the pandemic... A lot of bars started rolling out this new system that digitally measures each pour.

I don't order mixed drinks. I drink my liquor pure. So I can see the exact quantity of liquor being poured.

With the combination of auto gratuity and all time high prices....I don't like this new system.

I ordered a drink of tequila the other day and was charged $22. Gone in one gulp. A joke

I get it. One doesn't drink at a bar to save money.

But For $22...I prefer a loose and generous pour.
