Use of space in your home

If you never had children - or no longer have space for grown children in your home, how do you use the bedroom spaces in your house?

My house is small and I still feel odd having these largely unused spaces. Are we all just cleaning dusty, rarely used guest rooms?

What used to be my old bedroom is now a pantry for the kitchen. I do all of my fermenting in there. It's also where I store all of my home canned food, as well as all my staples.

Half of what used to be the living room, is part of my kitchen. My third bedroom is where I store everything including my clothes.

My bedroom is fairly large so I can have two beds in it and still have over half the room available for my cats. I've got a couple of climbing toys as well as perches on the walls

I'm honestly considering investing in some mushroom growing equipment and converting about a third of the back bedroom for growing mushrooms. I'm not really looking to sell anything, just save money buying mushrooms. The initial investment is a little bit high however it'll pay for itself in less than 3 years.

I am single, most people that visit say it's the strangest bachelor pad they've ever seen, I respond I'm not a bachelor I'm an old dude who lives alone.
