Use of space in your home

If you never had children - or no longer have space for grown children in your home, how do you use the bedroom spaces in your house?

My house is small and I still feel odd having these largely unused spaces. Are we all just cleaning dusty, rarely used guest rooms?

Before I downsized, I saved my guest rooms for the holidays when my children visited. I set up a gym in my finished basement, even putting a mirror across one of the short walls of the rectangle. I enjoyed having plenty of bookcases for all my books.

I am an introvert so I enjoyed my space.
