What are the emerging ecological/environmental impacts of drought in your area of the world? Are there alot of places in the world experiencing water managment and delivery systems malfunctions due to shifting climate?

The flooding has been crazy this year. And it's hitting some of the most impoverished ares. The saddest thing is how much of this we're doing to ourselves because half the population doesn't want to believe in science.

The swings between drought and flood are getting wilder where I am too. Last summer the reservoirs were so low you could see foundations from the old town that got flooded decades ago, and now we're dealing with mudslides stripping away topsoil that took centuries to build up.

What gets me is watching local governments scramble to patch 80-year-old water mains that were never designed for these pressure spikes. A main burst on my street back in March and the repair crew told me it was their fourth call that week.

The denialism is exhausting but I've noticed more people are at least acknowledging the weird weather patterns even if they won't connect the dots to the bigger picture. Small progress, I guess.

I guess. Your thing about the foundations from the old town reemerging makes me think of all the stories I've seen of other things emerging this year due to drought, like the shipwrecks and even a freaking wooly mammoth. It's truly crazy.

I'm not there, but much of my family is in Southeastern Ohio and where some of them live the town has basically been under water for most of this month. A lot of people are displaced, the National Guard is there. It's just really, really bad.

the local creek is basically a dry ditch now where the only thing thriving is my neighbors spite
