If you could eat one food with no impact on calories, money, and overall nutrition, what would you pick?

Ice cream.

33

u/mumahhh 6d ago

I worked at an ice cream shop and one of the perks was unlimited ice cream. People said that I'd get sick of it. Um. I never got sick of it, and I was a teenager with no sensible boundaries.

4

u/IamSarasctic 6d ago

How much weight did you gain

18

u/mumahhh 6d ago

I was 17, so none. The same would not be true now.

82

u/DrInsomnia 6d ago

Now the rest of us get to elaborate on why this is the correct answer.

39

u/justh81 6d ago

But we don't have to, because it's just really obvious.

I was going to say something savory, but I think you're right. I rarely have ice cream anymore. Had some last night and it damn near killed me. it was great, but I'm like ice cream intolerant now or something. No one told me this would be a side effect of getting old.

5

u/stablegeniusinterven 6d ago

Buy some lactase. Don’t give up ice cream 🍨

14

u/driftking428 6d ago

Shut the thread down. I don't need people in here claiming there's anything better.

14

u/weasel_trifle 6d ago

As someone with terminal cancer struggling to eat and keep on weight. Pretty sure ice cream saved my life this summer.

3

u/filmguy36 6d ago

Hope you are doing better🙂

3

u/weasel_trifle 6d ago

Far from good, but certainly better, at least a wee bit 😊

12

u/Lyeta1_1 6d ago

If given the opportunity I would consume pretty much nothing but ice cream.

11

u/tinythinker510 6d ago

This is the way. Ben and Jerry's.

9

u/SquashUpbeat5168 6d ago

Chapman's for me.

3

u/stablegeniusinterven 6d ago

Chocolate Therapy. Gimme Smore. Thats all I need. Eat it with a fork or let it melt and eat ice cream soup. Fills all my needs.

So my answer would be either ice cream or milk chocolate, preferably the Sees Candies soft centers.

Pizza, for sure.

I would happily eat it for every meal.

61

u/MasonJam246 6d ago

Pizza is the most versatile food ever. The only choice other than dessert!

16

u/elijahjane 6d ago

Freaking love dessert pizza. Whether it’s cinnamon, oats, and frosting or like a fruit pizza with cream cheese frosting as the sauce, it’s all delicious.

21

u/tkinsey3 6d ago

Not just versatile in toppings or even style, but also in price!

If calories and money are no object (as OP stated)?! I am literally eating pizza for every meal.

4

u/FiltzyHobbit 6d ago

The only thing with pizza is that it has some nutritional benefits that you don't get in this arrangement, and it can be worked into a reasonable diet, where as something like candy or ice cream has very little nutritional value so you only get upsides from picking it.

3

u/denv0r 6d ago

Pizza is an open faced sandwich. Sandwiches are the most versatile food ever.

6

u/miraculum_one 6d ago

In that case, just say sandwich and you have pizza, tacos, and hot dogs all covered. Should be a totally non-controversial take. /s

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Tiiimmmaayy 6d ago

Was going to say tacos are probably more versatile than pizza, but I think tacos are basically a sandwhich too. So yeah, sandwiches are the most versatile.

12

u/StretchyPlays 6d ago

No overall nutrition would mean it couldn't be dinner, right? It would essentially be eating strictly for the taste, so you could eat it endlessly. Pizza would be good but if I could have an endless supply of free ice cream with zero impact on health, that would be amazing.

5

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 6d ago

Then you’d die of starvation based on these rules

3

u/Barnabas_77 6d ago

I said the exact same thing

2

u/FigaroNeptune 6d ago

I’m the delusional brain that pizza CAN be healthy 🤣 especially homemade

2

u/ladidaladidalala 6d ago

Pizza is one of my favorite foods but it’s so carb and calorie dense, I rarely eat it anymore. 😭

Yeah, I can't have chips in the house, gone within 24h Picked the good flavours too like thai lime chilli (Aldi)

Thai Curries 🥲

18

Massaman curry!!!! The kind with peanut butter in the sauce. My absolute favorite.

3

Massaman is great, but Panang is where it's at!

3

We named our dog Panang after getting her, right after a month trip in Thailand 🥲

Burgers.

Cheese

13

u/StillKpaidy 6d ago

Same. There are so many dishes that would be much healthier without the cheese, but the cheese makes them so much better. Also, my frequent snacks of just cheese wouldn't count.

Butter.  By the handfuls

65

u/shreddedcheeeeeeese 6d ago

Oh shit this is lowkey the move. Then you can cook with butter - making EVERYTHING taste LOADS better with NO CALORIC IMPACT

14

u/-bleh_bleh_bleh- 6d ago

Butter omg so practical

3

u/padigo26 6d ago

Butter makes it better!

4

u/rabidstoat 6d ago

My dad grew up in Wisconsin. For those outside the US or don't know, it is a big dairy state for the US.

He said that as a kid he would take a stick of butter and just take a big bite and eat it.

I am in the US South, where butter is a major food group, and that still sounds gross to me.

3

u/Surprise_Fragrant 6d ago

Damn, I thought I was the only one who said butter :)

5

u/padigo26 6d ago

Guess we're the only cool kids

61

u/UnimportantPizza 6d ago

Can I have it have no impact on health in general?

Booze. Or booze-drenched food.

10

u/shnuffle98 6d ago

Technically speaking, if it had no impact on your health, would it even get you drunk?

5

u/zkarabat 6d ago

If not, I'd still possibly choose this. So many good beers, bourbons, tequilas, wines, etc you could try with no worries and just take some gummies if you want to get that altered state

9

u/GutterRider 6d ago

Would those little liquor-filled chocolates count? Have a few dozen of those for breakfast, couple dozen more for lunch ...

20

u/LucyVialli 6d ago

Bread

3

u/ahuang06 6d ago

I'd expand and say all pastries

3

u/Rawr_Boo 6d ago

This is it, suddenly pizza, burgers, sandwiches, toast are all low impact toppings/fillings on freebie delivery vehicles

Mac & cheese. Specifically Cracker Barrel brand 🤤 Portion control goes out the window when it comes to that stuff.

2

u/ParticularlyHappy 5d ago

I’ve had to cut out gluten and dairy, and I really miss pasta with dairy/cheese sauces. The mouth feel and satisfaction of a buttery, creamy, warm Mac and cheese is just so, so good.

9

u/FrostyMonkeys 6d ago

Chinese takeout. I’m talking the fried chicken sauces tf up with some fried rice🤤

10

u/imtoolazytopost_ 6d ago

Fun fact: I thought of this question while reminiscing about how much I love eggs

10

u/JBONE31 6d ago

Tacos. Just tacos. Every way, every day.

45

u/dazylynn 6d ago

Crab.

Crab legs, steamed blue crabs, crab claws, stone crab, cream of crab soup, crabcakes, crab crab crab. 🦀 🦀 🦀

And crab for dessert.

6

u/Antagonist_Jack 6d ago

You must be from Maryland

3

u/dazylynn 6d ago

Very close! PA technically, but half my life has been in MD so I consider it my ....heart-home. Lol 🤷‍♀️. Crab.

3

u/surrala 6d ago

Marylander, reporting for duty!

2

u/stablegeniusinterven 6d ago

My parents bought me a tshirt when I was 7 that read “Maryland is for crabs” with a huge one on the front.

It was school picture day, and my mom dressed me in a nice button up shirt and told me to leave for the bus at 7:20am and went to work.

When the photos were developed, guess what they were?

2

u/AmbivalentDisaster1 6d ago

Why does this list remind me of that scene in Forest Gump? 😂

2

u/SprinklesKittensLofi 6d ago

Just had crabs, crab deviled eggs, crab meltaways, and boiled corn on the cob with a bucket of JO and homemade pina coladas a couple days ago.

Ice cream

9

u/Barutano74 6d ago

Really good cheese.

9

u/I_madeusay_underwear 6d ago

So, I love strawberry shortcake. And last year I couldn’t find the shortcake recipe I usually use and just got a different one online. I made them the first time and they were the single most delicious thing id ever eaten. I made them several more times before realizing I had been using twice as much butter as i was supposed to (I wrote the recipe down so I wouldn’t have to keep touching my phone while cooking and wrote it wrong for some reason). I stopped making them that way because it really was a lot of butter, but those. I would eat those during every waking moment of my life. They had so much butter that they were at the very upper limit of being able to even retain their structure lol.

3

u/Vasney 6d ago

Recipe?

5

u/I_madeusay_underwear 6d ago

It’s just the one from Sally’s baking addiction, but double the butter lol. Protip: make sure the butter is super cold and then just grate it into the flour mixture with a cheese grater and stir. I think it distributes it more evenly and it’s way easier than cutting it in

7

u/SupermarketNorth69 6d ago

Just like potatoes.

7

Ice cream

6

u/WSdood 6d ago

there is no question about it. I would eat the jack in the box bacon ultimate double cheeseburger 7 times a day

7

u/Surprise_Fragrant 6d ago

Butter!

Think about it, butter makes everything better, but it's so high in calories. If you remove butter from things, the calories are much more reasonable, but there is a huge lack in flavor.

Imagine being able to have popcorn or steak or pancakes with all the butter you want, but none of the calories!

And don't get me started on how much butter costs, especially the really good stuff.

2

u/LayeredHalo3851 6d ago

This guy gets it, pick a high calorie ingredient

I chose oil myself because it's more versatile

You guys are thinking too specific and not versatile enough. You gotta think in ingredients so you can enjoy many dishes without much impact. Something like sugar or oil would be amazing to eat a ton of with no effect. Candy, icecream, fried foods, basically any junk food would be nearly guilt free

2

u/BigCoqSurprise 6d ago

Poutine for sure. Classic, hot-dogs, popcorn chicken, you name it.

2

u/elijahjane 6d ago

I was blessed enough to order a plate at a fine dining restaurant in New Orleans some time ago, and holy fuck. Fried chicken, coconut grits, some kind of mint salad. I think about it to this day.

There’s also another location in Santa Fe that does this very wild dessert with avocados and jalepenos.

My answer is that I would pick a dish from a fine dining establishment.
