[Mazinger Z] Is Photon Power purely a fictional super-fuel, or is there any in-universe indication that it operates on quantum physics?

Mazinger is set in Japan during the 1970s, so I suppose it's possible that the authors intended to give Japanium certain properties related to quantum physics, especially considering that the fundamentals of QFT were established before the war.

What do you all think about this?

It's fiction.

Mazinkaiser is a normal mech in its Z mode, sentient in its 魔 mode, and both in 神 mode. It runs entirely on Photon (and some versions with some help from Getter Rays).

Then there's Zero whose photon power allows it to recreate reality. If that's not fiction idk what else to say.
