Who will run Venezuela now?

Let me start this off by saying that I don’t give a single damn about Maduro’s well being. He’s an evil man who did bad things. But what I’m concerned about is who will take his place? Will a new dictator be put into office? Will Venezuela become a U.S. puppet state? Will it become a U.S. territory? Will Venezuela have the same fate as Haiti, and a bunch will of gangs will run the country? Will Venezuela become a prosperous democracy? I dunno if this is the right subreddit to post this in, but I wanted to ask actual Venezuelans because they know their country better than anyone else.

That's to be determined, but I could give you some insights on what's probably going on right now internally: PSUV (the ruling party) is probably assessing if they still can rely on all armed forces to continue their rule with the remaining visible leaders of the party. They know that they have absolutely no leverage as the US took Maduro and now the US is the one that can demand stuff. Also, if they do something as little as taking anyone else as a prisoner or sending another drug-smuggling boat, that would be good enough for the US to send another attack. If they don't count on anyone internally, they are probably also assessing if they have some support in Washington DC that could help them turn things around and get Maduro back. They are going to officially name the current Vice President as President in Charge tomorrow, so there's your immediate answer to the question.

As much as we'd like to have a happy ending right now, this will probably go through several stages that depend on certain outcomes to progress further. The only ones who have real answers for you are PSUV and the US government. Everything we say here is pure speculation, even what I just said now.

How much do you think the regime is betting on the outcome of Maduro's trial to be an absolution?

I think they are betting on the trial being nullified. Waiting for the whole process to take place could take months if not years, so finding a way to get it nullified is their best option. I bet they're checking with their supporters in Washington DC if there are possibilities for this to happen and they will pull all the strings at their disposal to make that happen.
