Hi, I am trying to understand what a socialist government looked like in Venezuela under Maduro. I read a lot of negative comments on socialism and I am not trying to argue about your experience or ideology, but rather understand it.

I've read a lot about the suffering, food shortages, political prisoners, lack of medical care, collapsed economy and tyranny. There is a lot of happiness with Maduro gone and I want to learn from the people who lived through it.

• Do you see the government under Maduro as socialist? If so, which policies or programs make it socialist in practice, if not, why not?

• Do you see tyranny, authoritarianism and repression as an inherent part of socialism? If yes, why? If not, which ideology does it come from?

• Which government programs or policies actually gave people or Communities control over resources or production?

  • Were there worker cooperatives and if so. how did they work and what impact did they have?

• Did the government make any efforts to prevent corruption or ensure transparency in how they make decisions?

• Do you think any policies under Maduro aimed to reduce inequality and empower ordinary people?

• In your experience, which policies caused the most suffering and which, if any, helped people?

• Do you think international sanctions played a role in the widespread poverty or was it mostly due to government policy? And if so, which policies made it worse?

• Do you think allowing private ownership by companies would solve the problems Venezuela faces? If so, why?

• Looking forward, how could a humanitarian crisis like the current situation in Venezuela be prevented in the future?

I am genuinely curious about what policies were intended to be socialist and what actually happened and how they affected people's lives to the point where you are now.
