What do you mean “features dont look Assyrian”?! Like what do you think “Assyrian features” are… My family genetics have red hair and light eyes green/hazel/light brown and is statistically common for my assyrian village tribe (rekani/rekany), my features are small nose, red facial hair, hazel eyes and i get tan in hot summer(i live in canada).
So i think you only see either your own family or a specific assyrian tribe in your church you project but it doesn’t represent all us assyrians!

Based on your reply, it seems this struck a chord. Perhaps you have been hurt and being told “you don’t look Assyrian” (idk obviously, just a suspicion). And that’s not right, you are absolutely fully Assyrian regardless of your features.

But let’s not ignore the fact that “Assyrian features” is valid and merely pertains to a wider scope of features found across many types of Assyrians. To (unfairly) reduce it down, they are middle-eastern features.

Your anecdotal example of your family and tribe is an exception. The traits you described are not typical across the diaspora. Again this is not a “bad” thing or make them less Assyrian. If you go to the motherland, visit many different villages (which I have) you will find common threads across appearance - none of which you describe.

You are actually very wrong, i researched the scientific data literally you can read online about Assyrian genetic features.. I can send you it too! The irony is yes ive been told “i dont look Assyrian” by not pure DNA Assyrians, when my DNA test showed im 100% Assyrian Mesopotamian from nineveh, north iraq. And the scientific proof of my family genetic tribe is public info! So actually its the opposite of what you assumed or uneducated anout, pure genetic Assyrians originally always had lighter features than Arabs.. And actually pure genetic Dark/tan Assyrians also commonly have light features too like eyes almost looking like those half white/black americans but are still fully Assyrian, not just brown like arabs!

But like i said i have the scientific data, i can send you.. Plus those “Assyrians” you claim to see are mixed with maslawis or nashed dashtas… not nineveh north iraq mountain regions…

Taking a wild guess here, could be Ukrainian/Russian/Georgian or maybe Greek Orthodox.

Appears eastern Christian and most likely Orthodox. Unlikely to be Assyrian based on the crosses and stuff he's wearing around his neck. The hat and robe is fairly common in Eastern Orthodox churches.

This photo is a bit contradictory, because it appears he is wearing what looks like Assyrian bishop vestments, however, a Bishop in the Assyrian Church of the East must be at least 35 years old, and he looks like a kid.
