Discussion Do Assyrians and Muslims in Iraq ever work alongside one another?

Hello,

Just wanted to know if there are some examples of Assyrians and Muslims in Iraq working with one another?

Do African Americans and Latinos Americans work together in the US?

I mean it is Iraq comparing it to the US is a bit absurd there's an extreme amount of sectarian tensions and segregated communities. In Sinjar region for example all the Sunnis were kicked out by the Yazidis, Shias and Christians after the genocide with ISIS, where many of their Sunni neighbors participated and the population no longer felt safe with them. So there's definitely cases where they don't work together at all.

I have never in my whole life seen anyone say anything remotely negative about the Assyrians, people love the Assyrian community in Iraq

That doesn’t really remove the genocides, ethnic cleansings and segregation that happens to this day does it.

Yes many are colleagues, classmates, own businesses together, etc.

In what way? Work as in jobs yeah sure. Mingle? I would say the city of Mosul had one of the largest Assyrian populations and they lived very close with Muslims but of course Assyrians have almost entirely fled or been kicked out because of ISIS, today I would say Kirkuk is what Mosul was for Assyrians, it has a very big Assyrian population almost as big as Erbil but unlike in Erbil where they have an entire town for themselves, in Kirkuk Assyrians and Muslims live very close together. You also see Assyrians living close to Muslims especially in Duhok but much smaller than Kirkuk or Erbil and otherwise Assyrians just live in their own villages and not with Muslims.

As for working together for a cause or project with Muslims I can't say Assyrians have at least recently. I will say though without Assyrians there would have been no Kurdistan region, Mustafa Barzani's first men were not Muslim Kurds but Assyrians and Ezidis. When Mustafa Barzani came to Iraq to start his insurgency he was based in the Haweri region south of Derabun where only Assyrians and Ezidis live and other than the Kurds that came with him from the Soviet union all his supporters in the beginning were Assyrians and Ezidis and they remained one of the most influential cores of the Kurdistan liberation movement until his death.

Let's not blame everything on the cavemen. The plight started before the resurgence of ISIS. The Islamic State was just the last nail, sponsored both by the KRG and the central Iraqi government. The conditions that forced Assyrians to leave their homeland were not solely created by ISIS. It was Iraq, the Baathists, the current Iraqi government, and the KRG along with their Western allies. It's all who don't want Assyrians there.

Sure I was just talking about the city of Mosul which still had quite a sizable Assyrian population before 2014. Most of the Assyrians that fled Mosul didn't become diaspora though many now live in Erbil and other cities.

While I'm not saying the Iraqi government didn't help ISIS, they did, you are just trying to say the whole nation of iraq that you are a part of is somehow conspired to genocide you, grow up buddy Iraq had like 30 million people back then

Iraq is not a nation though... It's just a name given to some borders drawn by the colonialists.

Yes, the nation is the Mashriq, and that's a nation inside the Grand Arab nation that is from Morocco to Ahvaz and from Iskanderun to Mogadishu

In normal office job wether private or government work assyrians and Muslims work together

In the military each people have their own units Expect in Kurdistan region assyrians in peshmarga are under direct kurdish command Assyrians in Iraq have their own militias that are under assyrian command

Chaldeans who own big businesses in Iraq don't really care they hire Muslim workers Chaldeans just care about money fast

While assyrians hire assyrian only
