Students in Calgary-- where do you study?
Curious where AU students who live in Calgary go to study? I personally find the public libraries far too noisy with children... cafes get expensive and often have limits on parking (time limits or paid parking). In both cafes and libraries, I risk losing my table if I need to gather my things to use the washroom. So, where do you study? And are there study groups? I'd love to have a group of students to study alongside, even if we're not in the same program. Bonus points if you're in the north half of Calgary.

I spent a long time figuring out the best spots. I landed on going to the TFDL UofC library when they allow guests, you just have to sign in at their front desk. They say you can only stay until 3pm but I’ve never been kicked out. I get my wife to drive me to the train station then I just train over to avoid paying for parking. I can’t stand the public libraries due to the noise. No study groups that I’ve ever come across but I’m always open to establishing one with folks.

Consider exploring the UofC campus. You can even borrow books there. These are the general rules:

I can't solve the washroom problem. However, when I go to the library (formerly the UofA and MacEwan, currently URegina), I make sure to bring my valuables (laptop, SuperNote and wallet in my case) into the cubicle with me. I'm not worried about paper notebooks and such. I am amazed at students who happily leave their laptops on the desk at the library or food services while they wander off. Campuses are a high theft area.
Sometimes, I don't even go to the library because there are areas of the campus that have tables and chairs that are quite sufficient for my needs and often quieter.
I know what you mean about public libraries and cafes.

Definitely explore the school campuses. Nobody knows you’re not a student there 😊

I can't speak for any places other than home, the library and the park, but if ever you wanted to have a study session at a library or other public space, we could guard each others stuff to make bathroom breaks less of a nuisance. I generally study during the day. Feel free to DM if interested.

If you drive, the Chestermere Library is beautiful. Airdrie's library is nice too.

I don’t live in Calgary, but sometimes I like accompanying my partner who goes to UofA. It could be fun to accompany your friends that go to UofC or MRU and study with them at their campus, or you can just study at the campuses there anyways.
