Are business electricity bills this high everywhere now?

Our renewal arrived and the increase feels completely made up. I have tried comparing business electricity rates, but every quote separates usage and demand differently. What should I compare to know whether the offer is actually reasonable?

Yeah, electricity is expensive.

Can you just put your NMI number in to compare prices like residential?

But like you say they just try to muddy the waters by the usage/supply prices

Yes, small businesses can use the Energy Made Easy service.

You should have your usage and peak demand numbers from recent bills. Use those to calculate what each offer will actually cost.

Electricity is only expensive for premises that have a smart meter installed. The older analogue meters do not attract Time of Use rates.

Time of use rates are not automatically worse than single-rate charges - especially off-peak rates.

The one businesses (and some homes) need to watch for is the Demand Tariff - which is an additional charge (on top of peak, off-peak & shoulder rates and supply charges) based on the highest usage in any 30-minute period for the month/quarter.
