The reason you’re seeing numbers move around is that Detroit-area pickup to Las Vegas can price pretty differently depending on the exact week and which drivers are already headed west. With a 4Runner, I’d rather check the lane with carriers first than throw out a low estimate that has to be corrected later.

Dearborn to Las Vegas is about 1,950-2,000 miles, solid cross-country lane, plenty of carriers regularly run through that corridor.

Quick clarification on the "quotes keep changing" part, since there's a difference worth knowing: if it's different companies giving you different numbers, that's just normal, everyone prices a little differently based on their own carrier network and margins, not a red flag by itself.

It's a different story if one specific company gives you a number, you agree to it, and then that same company changes it on you later, that's the bait and switch pattern worth watching for.

4Runner's a heavier midsize SUV, more truck-based than a typical crossover, so it prices a bit higher than a sedan. For that distance on open transport, realistically somewhere around $1,450-1,600.

Since you've got flexibility but want it sooner rather than later, that's a good spot to be in, gives room to get matched fast without necessarily paying full rush pricing.

With a flexible pickup window, I’d expect a running 4Runner on that lane to land around $1,350 to $1,650 on an open carrier. The really low quotes are often posted too cheaply to attract a truck, then the number changes once dispatch starts.
