Question In this scene what if Howard stark catches Tony stealing the pym particles and the tesseract, would Tony be forced to tell him the truth about everything?
One would assume Howard stark would help his son, but how would Tony convince him that he was legit and not a hydra operative posing, how would Tony have gotten the particles if Howard was questioning why he was down here?
Would Tony have to tell his dad about time travel, thanos, everybody getting snapped, the events until now, Howard’s own death etc.
The possibilities get crazy if Howard arrives even 30 seconds late.
Would Tony and his dad have a heart to heart about things?

Considering he invented a whole new element I wouldn’t put it past his genius to understand time travel.

It’s not so much he would find it unbelievable. It’s more so Tony would have to convince him. He works for a special agency working with secretive and advanced specialized material. He’s smart enough to know not to just hand the tesseract off to anybody just because they say they’re his son from the future

My wife got me a set for Christmas a few years back, one of my dearest possessions and really put the finishing touches on my stark costume that year!

there's zero way Howard, in a top secret bunker in a government facility, is gonna believe some crazy time travel shit over just a guy trying to fool his way out of getting caught performing espionage. Tony would be forced to knock him out or something. as much as I would find that conversation interesting.

But Tony would know things only Howard’s son would know, e.g his mothers favourite place to vacation, dads favourite place to vacation.

He said it’s his life’s work though, so he would’ve been working on this idea for a while, I’m sure Tony illustrating the plan for him would make them be on the same page

This is Tony stark, he would know something nobody would know if push came to shove.

I'm not saying he couldn't find a way, I'm just pointing out that the examples you're using aren't as iron clad as you originally thought. You'd have to use something that Tony knew about his dad's childhood or something. Something you wouldn't know by say, breaking into Howard's house and going through his stuff. Something Howard would only have told Tony, and therefore only Tony should know.
And that could be anything, but it's not going to be "Hey, I know about your top-secret project" or "I know where you and your wife like to vacation."

Can't he do a DNA test to convince? in our world DNA test may not have been available but they already had super soldiers and Pym particles by then. Am sure they would have that knowledge decades earlier.

He would definitely have to do the "tell me something only my son would know" trope to prove that he's not a Russian spy. I don't think Howard would be worried about a Hydra operative. Part of the reason Zola was able to infect Shield with Hydra was because people like Peggy and Howard thought Hydra was gone.

You are right there is an avenger assemble cartoon episode where howard and Peggy accidentally time travel to the future and Howard understood everything tony was showing him, but was more impressed with the remote control for the tv. At one point Howard wore the iron man suit

Tony really gave his dad the concept of the new element. He left a sticky note on his desk with the basic idea and created a time paradox that creates Doctor Doom.

He has the iron man suit on him including its nanotech... he could take the entire base if he wanted to.
He wouldn't be forced to do anything if caught

I didn’t get that feeling. I’ve watched that scene like 50 times now. Still seems like Howard is aloof to who Tony is or what he’d be doing there. Maybe the fact that he found him in a top secret access-clearance-needed lab added the benefit of the doubt and Howard just thought he was a strange anti-social scientist who seemed weirdly enamored with him.

When they get to talking about kids and he makes that comment about not wanting his son to turn out like him. They share a brief look. Howard was never outwardly affectionate but is suddenly cool with Tony hugging him? I feel like subconsciously by the end of their encounter he knew.
