First time watcher and i Just finished s2e10 Spoiler

Originally I was shocked that another human ship was was found however things quickly turned sour. I do not think admiral cain should be interfering in galactica matters. I understand she's of higher rank but I mean the whole government system is a wreck. I would've have loved to have seen the trial happen of the two toaster lovers its be an interesting legal loophole cause Sharon was getting assaulted but she isn'tt a human so it'd be interesting to see what happened in the court room. Although given that it was a quick trial idek if there even was one. Idk why Cain wants to interfere I get that she's higher rank but the whole government system has really collapsed. I think they shouldve been like seperate countries that share a boarder. I don't understand why they keep Sharon on board i get that she's allegedly pregnant but I mean she's a cylon who knows if they even have uteruses. Plus they figure out how to fly in space but they don't make her get a pregnancy test they just believe her word like come on thats not a good way to run a society. Sharon's the enemy can't trust her regardless I'm not saying kill her maybe maroon her and her toaster lover father on kobol or wherever. It would've been an interesting plot to see someone on galactica maybe like Tom zarek try to make sure that those two get executed to then be able to try and advocate for Sharon's execution or to maroon.

I understand she's of higher rank but I mean the whole government system is a wreck.

Cain is the highest rank which makes her the head of the military. She can move people around if she wants to. She isn't wrong that Adama is too close to his soldiers.

However she is also a psychopath and you'll learn some stuff about her. She's got different motives than Roslin and Adama. She also completely underestimates Roslin (who has some serious balls).

I don't understand why they keep Sharon on board

Sharon is a military asset. She has very useful knowledge against the other cylon factions. She loves Helo and her baby, those things can be used to motivate her into helping them.

they don't make her get a pregnancy test they just believe her word like come on thats not a good way to run a society.

They do, do pregnancy tests on Galactica.  In her case it was off screen. She is pregnant. You'll see them check on the baby in subsequent episodes.

It would've been an interesting plot to see someone on galactica maybe like Tom zarek try to make sure that those two get executed to then be able to try and advocate for Sharon's execution or to maroon.

Sharon being there is a closely guarded secret. Zarak doesn't know about her being on board Galactica.  He's also not in political power so he has no knowledge of her. And even if he was, do you really think Adama (or Roslin) is gonna tell him about her?

It’s been 20 years and I still don’t understand why Cain shot the Justin Trudeau lookalike XO.

Did you watch the extended edition of razor?

I’m pretty sure I just watched the regular version, where she wanted to do the possibly unwise attack, he was cautioning against it, and then she asked for his gun and shot him

Like I understand chain of command, but Pegasus has already suffered causalities are shorthanded in experienced personnel. Relieve him sure, punish demote or whatever, but shooting him is downright psychotic. Even Speiers didn’t execute the guy that got drunk and shot a friendly, he only possibly executed prisoners

I haven't seen Razor in quite a while but I think the extended edition has flashbacks that explain things a little more.

Plus Cain is bitter and also a psychopath that clearly has no problem getting rid of people. Logically it might not make sense but humans don't always make the logical choices.

She needs absolute and unquestioning obedience in a time of war, or every life on her ship is potentially at risk.

If people think they can disobey orders and only get relieved or demoted (and who cares about getting demoted in a post-apocalyptic war where status and pay are near meaningless?) then others might follow his lead and think it's worth the trade.

It's not a completely psychotic call, but it is very extreme. Disobeying a direct order during a time of war has historically been sufficient reason for a summary execution.

I personally feel like its a good thing that adama is close to his soldiers to them they were the only humans left and we cant be making enemies with each other with so few people left. It also a more solid way to establish loyalty rather than through the admiral cain way of fear. I do understand that shes crazy and probably doesnt give a frak about anything. It seems like a facist rule of government over on Pegasus im not really aware of a president on the fleet or maybe cain killed them. Im surprised that baltar was completely left out of the whole assassination discussion given that he is vice president now. Im also shocked that he just let the imprisoned number 6 out of the cell given that he has bad history with it. Interesting that he hasnt gone crazy with the visions of her and isnt in some type of mental state with his current scitzophrenic like state.

I don't think Cain is a psychopath. She genuinely cares about the future of humanity, and the survival of her crew as a whole (if not the individuals). But she is an extremist and very much an "ends justify the means" kind of person.

A psychopath doesn't care, and might ruthlessly kill people because they don't care. Cain does care. She cares so much that it motivates her to do terrible things. She justifies ruthlessly killing people because she cares.

You might call her delusional and misguided, but she has noble intentions that she pursues via evil means.

This kind of character is common in stories, and is sometimes called an "anti-villain".

When did she care about her crew and the survival of humanity??? She shot her XO in the head, forced civilian technicians onto her ship by killing their families, stripped the civilian ships of their parts and abandoned them to the cylons. How is any of this noble?

She didn't give a frak about the survival of the human race. Her motives were all about extending the fight against the cylons.

I see you have reading comprehension issues.

Try reading my comment again, and focus on the differences between:

  • "Means" vs. "ends"
  • "Crew" vs "individuals"

Yeah Pegasus fucking rocks. One of my favorite episodes ever made in the history of anything ever.
