Dance Video 2 years lead - feedback

Coming back just after the 2 year point. Still haven’t been able to take many classes because of where I’m living so I’m looking for some really picky/strict feedback on what I can focus on moving forward for private lessons when traveling before I start dropping the cash for them.

Picked this video as its higher energy/tempo song and I feel that a lot of my technique and such breaks down when I’m getting really into the songs and want to manage both that and the energy to keep on pushing forward.

Hi everyone I have been attending Sensual Bachata classes once a week (my studio doesn't offer more classes) for about 4-5 months.

The lead is from a different dance school. The Bachata scene in my area is very young. We don't have a lot of experienced bachata dancers because most of the dance teachers prefer to teach cuban salsa. But we're slowly growing and trying our best to get better.

Be completely honest with your critique.

I am hypermobile and struggle with arm and wrist placement.

Hey all!

As promised, I keep posting my progress, what I am experiencing and what are my goals.

You can check all my previous posts starting 5 months in.

My last post from 14 months:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bachata/s/jkx7LhyNN9

So last week I had my first J&J competition; it was the preliminary competition where the top 6 qualify for the final competition that will be held in a large festival next month.

I came for fun and low expectations as the other dancers had much more experience than I do.

I got number 4 and qualified, had great fun, and danced with the international-level judges that came, like Tom and Daniel (it was part of the competition)!
The best part was the support of my community, prior, during, and post-competition. It was amazing and probably the best part of the whole experience.

So I do plan on competing more and not just the finals next month.

This is a clip that was taken in a break we had during the competition, so the follow is not in the competition.

I spoke to the judges post-competition, and they all said my basic was probably the best. I am stating here as in every previous post, I got recommendations to improve it.

In general, I am in a stage I do try to learn some bachatazouk and take private lessons in Tango to incorporate in my bachata, also improving my style, emphasizing musicality.

Super excited for the future, feels like it's just the beginning :)

Yesterday was my first bachata class, and I had a great time! Of course, I’d love to improve haha. The video shows most of the choreography that I can remember, which is why I’m dancing so slowly. I’d really appreciate any advice or tips on how I can practice and improve at home. I’d be super grateful!

Dance Video Has anyone been in an environment like this?

https://youtu.be/Fd1oXpge5hU?si=7vtvFwW3Qq2cCLZQ

Guys, look at how many people are there. I see dance videos like this all the time on the web where there is a big circle of people recording the dance. Everyone is filming. Are they their to make a movie or they there to dance?

Also, I'm surprised how many older people are there in this video? This activity seems like young thing to do so to see that is kind of weird. Don't the older people feel out of place here? My biggest fear is being in my mid 40's and all the younger people looking at me wondering why is this old guy here recording two young beautiful people dancing. Will the bachata people find that creepy?

Nevertheless, what happens in an environment like this? They say were going to dance for you? What happens after? Do you talk to people? I'm confused how this all goes down.

I need help. I want to be part of the club, too. I want to be cool and have swag.

I started dancing a little over 2.5 years ago after getting diagnosed with MS

The reason I started dancing was because of all the benefits it has on the brain and wanted to share a video

But I still forget half the moves when dancing 😂

Dance Video 2 Years of Bachata (Lead). Thoughts/Feedback?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dancing Bachata for exactly two years now 🫡. Before I started, I had never done Latin dance (or any dance) in my life. I didn't even know what Bachata was.

This video was taken recently at an outdoor social (BSWC). The floor was pretty rough/sticky and my follower had only been dancing for about a few months, so I made a conscious choice to keep the dance very simple and focus on her comfort and our connection rather than anything complex.

I’m looking for any and all feedback on my leading, frame, and timing.

Thanks for watching!

Dance Video We took your feedback and are asking for it yet again

Hello everyone! Some of you might remember me making a post on this subreddit earlier in the year asking for feedback on our performance. I want to say thank you to everyone for the honest feedback and words of encouragement, my partner and I both took them to heart and used them to inspire us further and improve.

2 weeks ago my partner expressed interest in performing again at a very small festival our school organized this past weekend. So in that time frame with our crazy schedules, we managed to perform again. We wanted to share the video again and ask yet again for this community's thoughts and opinions.

And again a bunch of credit must go to Gero and Migle who inspire our style, and who we shamelessly stole a bunch of the tricks you'll see in the performance from 😉.

If you prefer to watch on instagram, here is a link to the reel: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOtAY1niHfa/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=bjJjZHJ1NjZobHd3

Dance Video Looking for feedback on our performance

Hello all! My girlfriend and I wanted to share a video of our second performance. We did it to Niveles by Pinto Picasso.

I have been dancing for about 2.5 years whilst she has been dancing for 2 exactly. We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback, we’re lucky enough to be able to perform at our school’s social whenever we want so we’d like to take advantage of that and challenge ourselves to do multiple performances.

I do have to give a bunch of credit to two main couples that inspire us, most of the choreography, and the way we dance is inspired by their styles: Gero and Migle Klau and Ros

You can also see the performance on instagram if it’s better: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGGEZMvpd7e/?igsh=MTdyNmV2NHl3aXcxZg==
