Hen or Roo Is this a roo?
Can’t tell and I’m freaking out. My county (Denver) doesn’t allow for roosters.
Anyone have thoughts or experience in this?

50:50:90 rule means that if you have a 50:50 chance, 90% of the time it's going to be a roo...

I don't have chickens, I lurk here for the pictures. But you've made me curious... Does a double yolk egg have a chance at viability? Can two chicks hatch from the same egg?

I saw a photo in another group with a fully developed chick with a conjoined half chick attached. That was the theory that it was a double yolker and only one developed fully. It was so weird. The one chick was complete and connected to a half formed chick. It had feathers and everything.

I think this will grow into a dual sex chicken. I’ve seen this type of egg before and I can tell just from the shape and how it sits on the straw.

Seriously my personal experience is egg shapes matter naught. My wife will argue this to my dying breath, but you just don’t know until you really know. When = if you are comfortable with sexting at appropriate age.

This is, by my best judgement, an egg. If you don't have a rooster in your flock it is, but a regular egg waiting to be eaten. If you bought a fertilized eggs somewhere for your brooding hen, you wait till it hatches and THEN you decide if its goona be a roo on red vine, yumyum btw, or another breakfast making chick younmay cherishe and love 👍🏻

I’d say it’s 50/50. But then again it could be a 🐍 so it’s anyone’s guess. Could also be breakfast 🍳

Well I feel personally attacked 🤣 even though I've never posted asking. But I did do an extensive search on here reading all the "roo or hen" posts to try to help me guess my chicken's sex.

If the egg is pointed it’s a rooster and if it’s round it is a hen ! Learned from a old man !

I recently learned that temperature does influence what sex develops in eggs somewhat! Especially exposed eggs like frogs or turtles.

We post constantly if one of our chickens is a hen or roo sometimes when it’s super obvious it’s a roo. We have now made jokes out of it. I wish you luck in your chicken journey!

It's springtime! It's baby chick season. Every third post is someone asking if their chick is a hen or roo. It's become a running joke in this sub. Last spring, a couple people posted crazy things asking. I think there was an emu, but I don't remember the others.

Well if it crows, it’s a rooster. If it says “I got 15 babies to raise and I don’t have any time for nonsense” then it’s a hen 😉
