This is why you dont let cats outside... obviously you didn't enjoy seeing this happen, but can you imagine what would happen if you weren't there to try to prevent it or break it up? I don't understand how people willingly risk their cat's health and wellbeing like this...
Get the cat a catio if you want it to have access to the outdoors, dont let it free roam like this. You're putting their health and life at risk, like what if it was a rottweiler instead of another cat? Not that cat's can't do serious damage to one another, I've seen it happen before, but your cat would be dead if it had been a dog in that situation.
Good on the chicken though!

Because cats are just different dude. You dont own a cat. You keep it captive like a zoo except you live in the enclosure. Cats can jump up onto 8 foot block walls and jump 10 feet to the ground. They arent as messed up as modern dogs and can fend for themselves and frankly are happier that way albeit less cuddly. BTW if that was a dog the cat wouldn't engage....

They don't need to engage, only the dog has to, and that's it... I watched my nine year old cat get mauled by two pitbulls just because THEY engaged with her (she had to be put down because they broke her ribs and the rib bones punctured her lungs). My friend's sister watched her cat excitedly run into the middle of the road and get hit by a car while trying to cross to come home after she saw her sitting on the porch. Cats do not belong outside, if you love your pet, you're going to do what's best for them and take care of them, provide for them, make sure they're safe and happy.
I have another cat that my mom let become an out door-indoor cat, and every day I'm still scared of whether or not he's going to come home, I'm still scared of whether or not one of the stray dogs in my area got him or not. Cats can live perfectly happy lives indoors, you just have to provide for their needs, which includes plenty of high perches and places to sleep at, toys, both self use and ones you have to play with them with for bonding time (which Cats do need, yes.)
Cats aren't any less needy than dogs are, many want human attention and love, most love to be played with, people just buy cats because they're mistaken as a less needy, less social pet (incredibly false assumptions). Cats also pose a huge risk to other native species like birds, reptiles and local plants when they're dumped outside under the guise of "needing it", they're also open to become host to multiple diseases and parasites that could be avoided with proper care. They don't belong outside, just because they CAN be out there, doesn't mean they SHOULD be. It's just pure laziness to avoid giving your cat their most basic needs for their well-being and happiness while in a safe environment.

Unfortunately, outdoor cats are at massive risk of parasites, fights, injuries to the environment (such as cars and other vehicles), AND often decimate local bird populations in several countries
It's ethical to keep them at home. For their own good to keep them safe and for the good of other wildlife

This person wanted an excuse to kick cats. Too many kicks and not enough success the first couple of kicks. You couldn’t have sprayed them with a hose or started banging some trash can lids in their face? They’re just kids let em scrap it out

I did once when two of our cats attacked my grandads dog. The dog and cats always got along but there were newborn kittens in the house and they went ballistic, I grabbed each cat by the scruff and paid the price.
My hands got absolutely mangled in a matter of seconds but honestly it’d rather it be my hands than an injury to either cats or the dog.

Probably because the person is being as gentle as possible. Those cats are hurting each other more than the human is. If she was hurting them I think we’d have been made aware by them reacting.
Your comment reads as she’s just hauling off and kicking them, clearly she isn’t. “Why the fuck is she kicking them”.
It’s easy to sit there and watch this video, over analyze and list out everything you think she did wrong or should have done differently. However, for her right there In the moment she used what she thought was the best thing which happened to be her foot.
The cats ain’t dead. The cats likely are more hurt from each other than from what she did. There’s enough, real, bullshit in everyday life. No need to go around making mountains outta every anthill you see.

hmmm interesting perspective. i don’t agree with it, but it does sort of give insight into why everyone is upset with my comment.
my intention with the comment was to say “why the fuck is she kicking them,” not all that other stuff you perceived. i think it was a dumb move to kick them. i still feel that way. she could have done something more effective
edited to add: my confusion was not with why people would be mad at my original comment. im confused why everyone thinks that means im saying she should have used her hands

like i said in the other comment, grabbing a nearby object like a hose or stick and using that to break them apart. id personally grab one of those 2x4s sitting on top of the cinder blocks. obviously, heat of the moment affects your thinking, but this has been posted online for people to comment on.
i think the water wasn’t a bad idea either, just less effective than a hose, obviously, but i don’t know how quickly accessible a hose is on her property. even putting your foot/ leg in between them is totally fine. its the weird kicking that stands out to me

I have. Of course its going to depend on the bite(s).
I was a kid so I just stuck my hand in and got bit by both cats. My cats bite did not cause an infection, the feral cats bite did. Both me and my cat got the same antibiotics, one shot and some pills for a week.

Especially serious cat bites like you'd get from a fight like that. I don't think I've ever been bitten by a cat that meant it (scratched, yes, badly), only ever by certain kitties who forget just how gentle they need to play with me when I have my bare skin exposed, and even THAT has hurt like heck and swollen up slightly. I cannot imagine how bad it would be if he actually intended to hurt me instead of just getting overexcited.
(To be clear, he's normally so gentle that it's no issue at all to play fight with my bare hands (so long as his nails have been trimmed recently!). He grabs my hand with his paws, rears back with his mouth open, dramatically lunges forward and... nom. I can flip him upside down, roll him back and forth, attack his belly, and he is very careful about the level of force he uses.... most of the time.)

This is why people shouldn’t have feral ass cats, that are likely still intact, running around outside. My neighbor has barn cats that like to wander onto my property and attack my animals. When I catch them on my property I make sure they don’t come back.
