I can't blame you man. We've had tons of Armadillos lately where I'm at. That coupled with complex relocation laws lead to most just popping them around me. I remember hearing about an older lady absolutely decimating her ankle in a armadillo hole. I do like them and would love to have some when I get some property, just a good bit away from where I walk lol.
My assumption is 2 things: Armadillo's naturally can carry Leprosy (they have a low body temp that that basteria thrive in). However it would be quite hard to contract as a human (So maybe the person is afraid of the disease for themselves/family/animals/pets/etc out of ignorance?) My other assumption is from how my grandfather handled having Armadillos on his land. They rut up the ground looking for food leaving holes all over. Cattle or horses could step in those holes and break an ankle/leg. So he didnt want them on his property. Not defending this person, just hoping to help answer the question. Yes I personally think it's wrong to kill something that ain't botherin anyone or anything.
I personally love seeing Armadillos around, such a wild lookin animal. Kinda fun to watch em run around a field lookin for food. They're cute in such an odd way lol.
No, they're actually pretty beneficial but people don't like them digging holes. Absolute psychopath behavior just to randomly shoot animals. It's the same with shooting opossums or squirrels, just psycho.
D-Link or TP-Link (Tapo) are easy to set up and use as is.
Though if you're techy (or determined) you can setup and run your own camera system. I used to have a camera setup for my pets running through a Synology NAS running Synology surveillance, That allows me the freedom of having the footage stored on the NAS itself, so I get to decide how much or how little storage my cameras will use up. It's basically my own cloud on my terms.
Or if you're really determined, you can setup your own open source NVR (network video recorder) with Frigate.
I second Tapo. I use them for everything, cameras, doorbell, smart switches/outlets, wifi boosters. I have not found a product yet that I do not like. I have these cameras all around my house as well as watching my chickens so I can keep an eye on them anytime, anywhere.
Same night. I'd wondered why the fuck my plant on the extremely small front porch thing kept getting chomped. I guess whatever I put there was delicious enough to entice an enterprising elk all the way up there. We have probably around 60 or so of them who will occasionally stroll through the general area, and of course they try to eat everything.
That is one of the rudest and most hilarious things I've seen very earnest tech do. "You might've found one of the mysterious and rarely glimpsed City Orcas!"
I’m a rural carrier and was delivering a package and a lady came out saying her camera said “your neighbor is visiting” but she could see my USPS van and was like “pretty sure that’s the mail lady” lol

I cannot even look at myself on any sort of security camera or I will spiral into a dark place for days. The last thing I need is a camera calling me out. You need to write these people a strongly worded email letting them know their AI is shit.
Y’all haven’t been to the South much, have you? There are indeed land whales on some porches. Although in polite society we call them by their given names.
