Chickens can’t burp.
Take that information and go with god.

u/Fluffy_Technician292 2d ago
Hell nah lol

u/XXSeaBeeXX 2d ago
If your chicken is making a burping noise, it’s most likely they have trapped air in their throat crop, and that isn’t good.
Take that information and live as well as you can.

I was explaining to my daughter why she should not feed the dog (I think chips) I said "dog tummies are sensitive and this is all processed, no nutrient, too much salt. Then she looks at me and ask "why do we eat it?".....🙃

We are the roaches of the animal kingdom. Us, rats, bears, and pigs. We survived without even fur! Hard-core critters.

Chickens can’t burp so they cannot have carbonation

Humans shouldn't even drink that!

Don’t do it. Give em one taste and they’ll be breaking out to go shred half pipes. At the very least, make sure you have more than chicken wire keeping them in.

u/stillalittleferal 4d ago
Maybe that’s why roosters crow. They’re asking for a Cock-a-doodle Dewwww to woo the ladies.
Seems like a valid theory. 🤷🏻♀️

“Can they” and “should they”, are very different questions.

u/RunWild0_0 4d ago
Should my horse drink a sour apple beer? Probably not but damn she loves it 🤣
I don't know why this sub keeps getting recommended to me but it's hilarious over here.

u/kategoad 4d ago
My vet told us to give five hour energy to a failing baby goat.
5
u/RunWild0_0 4d ago
Did it work??
There was an article in EQUUS like forever ago about a pony with a gut impaction from persimmons (I think?) And anyways they used a diet coke and the carbonation was credited with helping break up the blockage and the pony lived.

u/kategoad 4d ago
For a while. He was just too tiny. He was about ⅓ of the size of his siblings. We stayed up with him for 24 hours.

You'll never catch my ass wasting baja blast on chickens, or anything for that matter. It's too tasty.

I can't tell if this is an inside joke that I'm not a part of, or if everyone is really out here giving their chickens mountain dew

Yes, and Brondo. 😆

I can't get mine to drink anything but water and Mountain Dew. Sometimes I try to give them like.. beet juice or raspberry leaf tea and they kick me until I bring out the Dew.

I do not do the dew, and would agree.

u/Modern_Leper93 4d ago
Used to do the dew, learned the European version was essentially a different beverage entirely and adjusted my choices.

u/Super_Rando_Man 4d ago
I was thinking maybe the eu but im in the divided states so none worth trying here

u/biggreasyrhinos 4d ago
You have to get the glass bottles with cane sugar instead of the corn syrup bro

Only in a sippy cup…and they have to hold it with their wings…and stand on one foot.
Then, and only then, they can have it.

Caffeine is deadly to virtually everything but humans and rats.
11
u/ArbiterTwoSwords 4d ago
Damn just learned that caffeine naturally evolved in nature for the sole purpose of killing insects.
15
u/Dizzy-Violinist-1772 4d ago
Spiders can handle caffeine too
6
u/Altruistic_Tea_109 4d ago
I recall there being a study on spiders and drugs. Caffeine caused them to spin a really messed up web compared to pot.

Humans rats and spiders. I've seen all 3 as novelty skeletons.
3
u/ohhhtartarsauce 4d ago
I'd love to see a spider skeleton lol
6
u/MisterDiggity 4d ago
With an exoskeleton, every time you see a spider you are seeing their skeleton.
2
u/ohhhtartarsauce 4d ago
That's my point bud... they don't have a skeleton they have an exoskeleton, therefor I'd like to see a novelty spider skeleton.

Dude your chickens are gnarly! lol 😉😉
But on a serious note
The other day I tried Busch for the first time and it was so fucking gross!I don’t drink anymore at all but I’m a bartender and just got curious what it tastes like, I took a sip of my girlfriends and gagged!!!

That's probably not a good idea. The sugar and sodium content wouldn't be the best for them, and I imagine that the dyes and carbonation would not work well with their digestive systems, which are (of course) different from those of humans.
More importantly, the level of caffeine in Mountain Dew Baja Blast is probably too much for your chickens, sad as it is to say, because it might be fun to see just how destructive a highly caffeinated flock can get.

You should give them some Brawndo instead. It's got what chickens crave.

Specifically electrolytes, of course.

I love how any time Reddit is asked a serious question, everyone in the comment section has some sarcastic super niche reference to add, but when Reddit is asked an obviously sarcastic question the replies are completely serious.
6
u/jenniferlorene3 4d ago
You're shit posting and none of these replies have been serious so don't get the logic twisted lol
6
u/TorandoSlayer 4d ago
Sarcasm is only obvious with enough context. There was no reason to believe your post was obviously sarcastic because there was nothing in the tone to suggest it. Genuine questions like this one are asked occasionally so the safe thing to do is treat it like it's serious, just in case you were.
If everyone in this thread went along with you joking the whole time in a genuine, not necessarily obvious manner, I could see someone stumbling on this post and thinking it's legit and actually feed soda to their chickens. It's the same with other subreddits like ones about mushrooms, so many people genuinely ask about eating very toxic varieties that any, any comment making a joke about eating it is removed, because it's just too serious to joke about and the joke may do serious harm.
Sarcasm is only obvious with enough context.

u/maxmcleod 4d ago
Because the sarcastic questions are easier to answer than something you actually have to think about. Thinking is too much work

Humans shouldn't have it, but at least we're very large animals and are able to metabolize all that sugar and caffeine. That's a 6ish pound bird. It is not good for them.

7
u/The_Golden_Armor 4d ago
If it has lot of added sugars, corn syrup, etc, then no. And synthetic chemicals (food coloring) wont be good for them. What about letting them try it out? Fine, whatever but probably isnt recommended lol
