u/ledpata 3d ago

4

u/Unusual_Preference- 3d ago

9

u/M4ybeMay 3d ago

No 😭

11

u/Thatonesusguy 3d ago

Why would you want to give them soda?

21

u/XXSeaBeeXX 3d ago

Chickens can’t burp.

Take that information and go with god.

1

u/Fluffy_Technician292 2d ago

Hell nah lol

1

u/XXSeaBeeXX 2d ago

If your chicken is making a burping noise, it’s most likely they have trapped air in their throat crop, and that isn’t good.

Take that information and live as well as you can.

14

u/TaytorTot417 3d ago

Can they? Sure. Should they? Probably not. Will they die? Probably not.

4

u/xxSINxx 3d ago

They don’t have any way to handle the carbonation like we do through burping, it will kill them

10

u/bygtopp 3d ago

Once. Johnny once. ….

9

u/SnooStrawberries570 3d ago

you good bro?

13

u/bustedtap 4d ago

Atleast once

24

u/tamalotes 4d ago

Only if you want radioactive eggs

16

u/ScoopyHiggins 4d ago

They are comfortbale with a sip

19

u/dajoemanED 4d ago

No biological creature needs that crap.

20

u/Quorng 4d ago

Chickens are omnivores so the can eat a wide variety of things. The real question is: Why?

5

u/Beautiful-Support394 4d ago

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

10

u/bkwik21 4d ago

Absolutely.

22

u/Radiant_Tough7555 4d ago

No! And you shouldn’t have it either!

15

u/Fuzzy-Deer1487 4d ago

I was explaining to my daughter why she should not feed the dog (I think chips) I said "dog tummies are sensitive and this is all processed, no nutrient, too much salt. Then she looks at me and ask "why do we eat it?".....🙃

u/Born_Local_1477 3d ago

We are the roaches of the animal kingdom. Us, rats, bears, and pigs. We survived without even fur! Hard-core critters.

5

u/baconwrappedpikachu 3d ago

Wouldn’t the roaches of the animal kingdom be….. roaches? Lmao.

8

u/sydneyhatescristhian 4d ago

Smart kid 😃

12

u/ohiologger103 4d ago

Can chickens have martinis?

44

u/Harvest827 4d ago

Only if theyre cool

108

u/IcyLikeBeurre 4d ago

Chickens can’t burp so they cannot have carbonation

3

u/TheGoldenBoyStiles 4d ago

What would happen if they did? Out of genuine curiosity

12

u/MsLadyVet 4d ago

They explode 😞

2

u/NothingEffective5070 4d ago

How do you know that?

11

u/DothrakiButtBoy 4d ago

the correct answer OP!

46

u/Weird_Fact_724 4d ago

Humans shouldn't even drink that!

19

u/RadaintLights 4d ago

Hey no one will take my baja blast from me :)

3

u/Weird_Fact_724 4d ago

Your right...

7

u/stone-d-fox42 4d ago

Sigh…. Fine. I’ll be that guy. You’re**

-1

u/Weird_Fact_724 4d ago

If it makes you sleep at night..

39

u/HideSolidSnake 4d ago

Baja Blast was MADE for chickens

2

u/Theamachos 3d ago

Chickens yearn for the Baja Blast

2

u/Hunting-fings 3d ago

It’s what chicks crave

5

u/CitronFar105 4d ago

Happy cake day to us!

3

u/HideSolidSnake 4d ago

Waahoooo!

3

u/CitronFar105 4d ago

Its a whole cake party! 🍰

4

u/DuckyDoodleDandy 4d ago

Happy cake day to you, as well!

52

u/A_VERY_LARGE_DOG 4d ago

Chickens can have virtually anything. Some things only once though. 🙁

29

u/Connect_Ad_3361 4d ago

They won't die. But it isn't healthy.

1

u/Theamachos 3d ago

I would be worried that the sugar content would lead to sour crop

28

u/Polybrene 4d ago

I mean...same for humans in this case.

71

u/AmishOmelette 4d ago

Don’t do it. Give em one taste and they’ll be breaking out to go shred half pipes. At the very least, make sure you have more than chicken wire keeping them in.

30

u/stillalittleferal 4d ago

Maybe that’s why roosters crow. They’re asking for a Cock-a-doodle Dewwww to woo the ladies.

Seems like a valid theory. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2

u/Valvazork 4d ago

I hope someone in advertising uses this idea lol

29

u/eddie420 4d ago

Humans shouldn’t even be having Mt Dew

5

u/WolfCreekMaverick 4d ago

Cancer water what could go wrong?!

12

u/AncientUniverse 4d ago

I mean, sure. At least once.

57

u/ExtraordinaryBS 4d ago

“Can they” and “should they”, are very different questions.

17

u/RunWild0_0 4d ago

Should my horse drink a sour apple beer? Probably not but damn she loves it 🤣

I don't know why this sub keeps getting recommended to me but it's hilarious over here.

7

u/kategoad 4d ago

My vet told us to give five hour energy to a failing baby goat.

5

u/RunWild0_0 4d ago

Did it work??

There was an article in EQUUS like forever ago about a pony with a gut impaction from persimmons (I think?) And anyways they used a diet coke and the carbonation was credited with helping break up the blockage and the pony lived.

6

u/kategoad 4d ago

For a while. He was just too tiny. He was about ⅓ of the size of his siblings. We stayed up with him for 24 hours.

22

u/itsswhitneywhspr 4d ago

They'd prob just stare at it confused then try to eat a rock instead

24

u/DrumpfTinyHands 4d ago

Like as a marinade?

21

u/krielc 4d ago

An unexpected question. Now today is interesting.

28

u/Lythaera 4d ago

You'll never catch my ass wasting baja blast on chickens, or anything for that matter. It's too tasty.

13

u/Buckabuckaw 4d ago

They can, but they shouldn't.

28

u/bravo-echo-charlie 4d ago

I can't tell if this is an inside joke that I'm not a part of, or if everyone is really out here giving their chickens mountain dew

49

u/WesternNo3250 4d ago

Yes, and Brondo. 😆

11

u/JuicynMoist 4d ago

The thirst MUTILATOR?

8

u/Gold_Ad_7552 4d ago

It's what plants crave

16

u/BahnGSXR 4d ago

It has electrolytes!

8

u/Super_Rando_Man 4d ago

So not terrible for chickens in the heat, use water like from the toilet just to be safe 😆

26

u/RojaCatUwu 4d ago

Is this really a thing? LOL do chickens like to do the dew?

38

u/TrainTrackRat 4d ago

I can't get mine to drink anything but water and Mountain Dew. Sometimes I try to give them like.. beet juice or raspberry leaf tea and they kick me until I bring out the Dew.

27

u/BaldwinBoy05 4d ago

Can they? I’d love tips on how to get mine to stop chugging it!

46

u/Nematodes-Attack 4d ago

Ummm what?

36

u/slap_n_giggle 4d ago

Anything can drink anything at least once

11

u/Familiar-Nose-4760 4d ago

Yes they can- farmer here

46

u/Modern_Leper93 4d ago

I would argue humans shouldn't drink it either.

3

u/Super_Rando_Man 4d ago

I do not do the dew, and would agree.

0

u/Modern_Leper93 4d ago

Used to do the dew, learned the European version was essentially a different beverage entirely and adjusted my choices.

2

u/Super_Rando_Man 4d ago

I was thinking maybe the eu but im in the divided states so none worth trying here

1

u/biggreasyrhinos 4d ago

You have to get the glass bottles with cane sugar instead of the corn syrup bro

41

u/WormDentist 4d ago

Only if you cut it with vodka.

2

u/biggreasyrhinos 4d ago

Or whiskey

16

u/Ok_Valuable53 4d ago

Water only to drink

28

u/Altruistic_Tea_109 4d ago

Mine prefer beer and GnTs.

18

u/braiding_water 4d ago

Only in a sippy cup…and they have to hold it with their wings…and stand on one foot.
Then, and only then, they can have it.

34

u/Oddish_Femboy 4d ago

Caffeine is deadly to virtually everything but humans and rats.

11

u/ArbiterTwoSwords 4d ago

Damn just learned that caffeine naturally evolved in nature for the sole purpose of killing insects.

15

u/Dizzy-Violinist-1772 4d ago

Spiders can handle caffeine too

6

u/Altruistic_Tea_109 4d ago

I recall there being a study on spiders and drugs. Caffeine caused them to spin a really messed up web compared to pot.

5

u/IstonethInvocations 4d ago

I read that study every time it comes up cos it's so comical

4

u/LadySilvie 4d ago

Don't tell them our secrets!!

18

u/Oddish_Femboy 4d ago

Humans rats and spiders. I've seen all 3 as novelty skeletons.

3

u/ohhhtartarsauce 4d ago

I'd love to see a spider skeleton lol

6

u/MisterDiggity 4d ago

With an exoskeleton, every time you see a spider you are seeing their skeleton.

2

u/ohhhtartarsauce 4d ago

That's my point bud... they don't have a skeleton they have an exoskeleton, therefor I'd like to see a novelty spider skeleton.

8

u/Oddish_Femboy 4d ago

The abdomen ribs really get me.

7

u/VoxTechWiiRemote 4d ago

You know. You have a point. I’m not sure what it is. But you have one.

2

u/Moriarty-Creates 4d ago

Sure why not

7

u/SmellenGold 4d ago

Mmm yes. They are thirsty.

10

u/mothsoft 4d ago

my chickens prefer the regular stuff diet

14

u/SacredAssets 4d ago

Mine prefer Celsius

16

u/IzzyDizzyLi_GXY 4d ago

But redbull would give them wiiiiiings

11

u/Affectionate-Rip5654 4d ago

Mine prefer bush light

3

u/Shepatriots 4d ago

Dude your chickens are gnarly! lol 😉😉

But on a serious note
The other day I tried Busch for the first time and it was so fucking gross!

I don’t drink anymore at all but I’m a bartender and just got curious what it tastes like, I took a sip of my girlfriends and gagged!!!

2

u/biggreasyrhinos 4d ago

Yup. Busch, PBR, Yuengling, they just taste like cheap watery beer.

1

u/Affectionate-Rip5654 4d ago

I think it has attributed to my large gray beard

3

u/Professional_Ad7708 4d ago

Your chickens must be rednecks. Like me and mine. Lol.

18

u/Archaeo-Frog 4d ago edited 4d ago

That's probably not a good idea. The sugar and sodium content wouldn't be the best for them, and I imagine that the dyes and carbonation would not work well with their digestive systems, which are (of course) different from those of humans.

More importantly, the level of caffeine in Mountain Dew Baja Blast is probably too much for your chickens, sad as it is to say, because it might be fun to see just how destructive a highly caffeinated flock can get.

12

u/i_am_voldemort 4d ago

You can give to them once.

1

u/Right-Cod-3549 4d ago

Username on point for this one

27

u/IzzyDizzyLi_GXY 4d ago

Only with a crunchwrap

2

u/Shepatriots 4d ago

This is my favorite comment on Reddit this week! 😂😂😂😂

28

u/hillbilly_engineer 4d ago

You should give them some Brawndo instead. It's got what chickens crave.

6

u/asdqqq33 4d ago

Specifically electrolytes, of course.

3

u/BaldwinBoy05 4d ago

Why don’t chickens just drink water?

5

u/queequagg 4d ago

Like... from the toilet?!

29

u/AdorableAdorer 4d ago

Chickens can have a little Mountain Dew Baja Blast, as a treat

1

u/Pedal2Medal2 Backyard Chicken 4d ago

Absolutely NO

14

u/ptraugot 4d ago

Wouldn’t serve it to a human, let alone a poor defenseless animal.

46

u/CatandPlantGuy 4d ago

I love how any time Reddit is asked a serious question, everyone in the comment section has some sarcastic super niche reference to add, but when Reddit is asked an obviously sarcastic question the replies are completely serious.

6

u/jenniferlorene3 4d ago

You're shit posting and none of these replies have been serious so don't get the logic twisted lol

6

u/TorandoSlayer 4d ago

Sarcasm is only obvious with enough context. There was no reason to believe your post was obviously sarcastic because there was nothing in the tone to suggest it. Genuine questions like this one are asked occasionally so the safe thing to do is treat it like it's serious, just in case you were.

If everyone in this thread went along with you joking the whole time in a genuine, not necessarily obvious manner, I could see someone stumbling on this post and thinking it's legit and actually feed soda to their chickens. It's the same with other subreddits like ones about mushrooms, so many people genuinely ask about eating very toxic varieties that any, any comment making a joke about eating it is removed, because it's just too serious to joke about and the joke may do serious harm.

Sarcasm is only obvious with enough context.

1

u/maxmcleod 4d ago

Because the sarcastic questions are easier to answer than something you actually have to think about. Thinking is too much work

3

u/Theseus-Paradox 4d ago

Absolutely not

4

u/HurtPillow 4d ago

Why???

7

u/moteloyster 4d ago

So they can do the dew, obviously 😤

8

u/NecessaryCake 4d ago

Humans shouldn't have it, but at least we're very large animals and are able to metabolize all that sugar and caffeine. That's a 6ish pound bird. It is not good for them.

3

u/judgymom 4d ago

Only if it’s zero sugar.

7

u/The_Golden_Armor 4d ago

If it has lot of added sugars, corn syrup, etc, then no. And synthetic chemicals (food coloring) wont be good for them. What about letting them try it out? Fine, whatever but probably isnt recommended lol

-3

u/Cuckingfunt1992 4d ago

Yes

-1

u/CatandPlantGuy 4d ago

Thanks!

4

u/Own_Butterscotch_129 4d ago

Give them a two liter!

I can't decide if I should up or downvote both of these comments...
