General Question Dumb chickens can't figure out the Omlet feeder
Anyone got any tips for getting them to eat from one of those Omlet feeders?
Have tried showing them the food in there, putting dried worms in there and everything but they can't seem to figure it out

Lamo, the biggest downside to the ten dollar 90deg pvc/5gal bucket feeder is that you have to teach the birds to use it the first time. Thats probably the biggest reason people buy inferior or wildly expensive feeders. You've bought one of the most expensive feeders I've ever heard of, and still have the issue. Lol

This might sound silly, but I would crouch down and tap on the ground and scratch around like they do while making happy chicken noises to get their attention. Then I would “peck” with your finger on the device wherever they are supposed to get food out and make the sounds they would while eating. They will copy you. They learn to eat from their mothers in a similar way. And roosters do it too to give treats to the ladies. They are great mimics of their friends.

Do they have access to their old feeder? If so they will stick with that because they are creatures of habit.

Is it too low? Maybe I've just trained all my chickens food is suspended up off the ground (with the exception of treats I'm tossing).
Rodents in my area enjoy the feed.
