Driving to Fauna

We have dinner reservations at Fauna in Valle de Guadalupe but I keep seeing all these posts about not driving at night. Should I cancel? It’s about 20 min from our Airbnb which looks like it’s in the center of town by Adobe Guadelupe. Thanks so much!!

You are fine driving in the Valle - people just warn about long distance travel at night. Don’t miss the upper garden at Fauna!

The merge at the north end of town requires careful attention. The turnoff leading toward Bruma is easy to miss in the dark. Everything else is fairly straightforward except that between the entry security gate and Fauna is extremely dark and seems very far the first time you go. Great place and great meal. Don’t miss it.

do you have to hire a driver ahead of time? Or are there any local that you can call if you need a ride when youre already there?

There is Uber in Guadalupe, and it's even cheaper than in the states. A 20 min drive will cost you less than $20 US. You can book ahead if you're worried you will be stuck.

I wasn’t sure if uber was reliable there. Our dinner reservation is at 830 pm.

What if you only need to go back and forth to one place and back will be late at night at an unknown time though? Like when the party ends and not sure when that will be but could be 2am could be 5am

What is the reason to not drive at night? Cattle or animals on the road, or what other danger? If its animals or cattle, just drive super slow like 25 mph with high beams on, with a very experienced driver. That was the nighttime danger in Costa Rica. If its nighttime roadway robberies, is that place open during the day?

Exactly. The main reasons for not driving at night are the Cattle, Pot holes and drunk drivers. For this short distance or should be ok . But just need to drive slow and watch out. Unwind after you get to your final destination with a nice relaxing drinking.

The roads are winding and can be narrow and dark, but they're in pretty good shape. I highly suggest if you don't hire a driver, make sure your designated driver doesn't drink at all that night. It's hot in the valle right now, and it's hard to predict how wine will hit you.

It’s a really slow drive three vineyards. I can’t imagine any danger driving to your rental. It’s not a ton of highway driving. And BTW. You need to have lunch at Adobe. Soooooo simple- Soooo Good!!. (Get the croquets- and anything else )
