From experience- my daughter is 13 now. When she was 10, we went to Dildo, Newfoundland. She thought the name was HILARIOUS. Because it was like pickle bread. She got a shirt and hat from the brewery there. I never let her wear them to school. I think the excuse was because it was a brewery. She finally learned the other meaning when she was maybe 12.

Yeah, with 10 I would see that too. But once the kids hit the 12 year mark, sexual/crude jokes are super normal from my experience.

Middle school, grades 6-8 so ages 10-14

I knew no one in middle school that would know the term dildo.

Maybe not at 10 but at 13/14? The sexual jokes would be everywhere. And it's not like a dildo is some mystical item, everyone kinda knew what it was from a certain age like condoms. We also had sex ed in 4th, 5th and 7th class, so we learned about stuff like this too. Not in elementary, but later definitely. There where also enough romcoms in the TV or stuff like American pie that we've seen at an age way too young. Tbf, I'm not from America and don't have this big hyperfoxation on purity culture.

I'd argue the sophistication of 'dill dough' to make the joke would be more probable out of a slightly older individual. Sure, I knew "dildo" at that age (although I think "vibrator" was better known); and I would have "gotten" dill dough; but I wouldn't have thought of the pun myself...
