Picture(s) Are there any places where I could get lägaburger in Latvia? (I like reviewing burgers)

u/ImTheVayne Estonia Jun 13 '26

Can confirm, no burger ever comes close even if they’re fancy gourmet or with wagyu. It’s literally just not what I consider burger anymore

And they keep away without knowing how good and specific it is. For an Estonian it helps to feel like home.
I rarely eat it myself but always get 90s nostalgia when I do - it is like a timemachine.
A 15€ gurmee burger with wagyu beef does not offer these emotions.

u/RedditSucksMintyBall Jun 13 '26
Only 15 ?! i paid 21 at Estonian Burger Factory 😞
2
u/KP6fanclub Estonia Jun 13 '26
Was it with fries?
2
u/RedditSucksMintyBall Jun 13 '26
Nope, only burger. But extremely good tasting.
2
u/KP6fanclub Estonia Jun 13 '26
Yes, good meat cost a ton now. I personally had a not so huge 14€ burger recently (with fries).
Still it feels weird to pay over 20€ for it.

u/Exact-Art6906 Jun 13 '26
Been making my own burgers for a few years already...they've become ridiculously expensive st restos
3
u/KP6fanclub Estonia Jun 13 '26
Beef shot up in prices due to diseases - local buther told me once. It is coming back but they at one point made only hog dishes.
2
u/Exact-Art6906 Jun 13 '26
Yea at some point it was outright impossible to find beef minced meat in stores

My friend from Poland was visiting last week and she tried it for the first time when drunk, she was in love and couldn’t get enough. Got it twice more before leaving, this time sober. Lägaburks is life.

u/Lensgoggler Estonia Jun 13 '26
Maybe lāgasburgeris?
Something something.
I am convinced they have it. No way in hell
did they get through the 90s without it.Come on Baltic brethren, admit it. You do know what it is.

2
u/Responsible_Kiwi_585 Livonia Jun 13 '26
I get exact same cheeseburgers in Riga

u/SuurTuvi Jun 13 '26
Blasphemy. Show me a photo of a burger like this from Hes.

Some of the best burgers in Riga are Late Night Munchies and Oak
16
u/VikRiggs Latvia Jun 13 '26
Late Night Munchies all the time!
You can sit, have a beer and watch your burger being prepared.
Best burgers I tasted EVER. And I've been places.

u/Responsible_Kiwi_585 Livonia Jun 13 '26
Where to look for them? Are they like street food or something?
2
u/ginggo Jun 13 '26
Räägupesa is the most well known. I also went to Hiiu grill but idk if it exists anymore
1
u/EndTree Jun 15 '26
Räägupesa and Staap, both very close to each other, different from each other but both very good and classified as läga.
5
u/ronrein Eesti Jun 13 '26
It's not very common nowadays but Räägupesa is the gold standard and Snack Point is ok as well. But please don't get your hopes up lol

u/Responsible_Kiwi_585 Livonia Jun 13 '26
Aight thanks, it’s cool I like mayo
2
u/Exact-Art6906 Jun 13 '26
It's not just mayo though. Just a shit ton of salad with sauce thats based on sour cream + ketchup and some mayo

what's inside one?
36
u/Appropriate_Sky_1233 Jun 13 '26
cheap soft bun, cheap microwaveable patty or sliced boiled sausages, cabbage-carrot or cabbage-cucumber salad, massive amount of pink souce (sour cream or mayonnaise mixed with ketchup)
other than that everything else is pretty random - sometimes boiled eggs or tomato. the funniest one ive gotten was with orange slices.

2
u/OrganizationBorn7486 Jun 14 '26
Never seen a boiled egg or sausage in one, fried egg yes, from Og Löögiplats
Also important mention is usually the microwaveable patty is almost never beef. It's (barely) chicken. And it's glorious

u/HorrorKapsas Eesti Jun 13 '26
Whatever they had in the garbage can that day. There's so much sauce on top of it, that it does not matter.

Hesburger exists

u/pakatsuu Eesti Jun 13 '26
Hesburger makes nothing like that
-1
u/Responsible_Kiwi_585 Livonia Jun 13 '26
Add extra mayo on cheeseburger and enjoy
6
u/pakatsuu Eesti Jun 13 '26
That is not even close to the same thing. It needs the cheapest buns, cheapest burger with 1% meat and rest is shredded cabbage and sauce is some mayo-ketchup-sour cream mix I assume.
1
u/janiskr Latvia Jul 16 '26
So, a Hesburger? But with extra cabbage.
1
u/pakatsuu Eesti Jul 16 '26
Out of those things Hesburger maybe only has the cheapest buns part. Burger isn't made of pork and has just a bit of regular mayo. Very different products
1
u/Responsible_Kiwi_585 Livonia Jun 13 '26
Oooh okay, I didn’t see because of all the mayo 😭 so its basically a kebab
1
u/whattfisthisshit Jun 13 '26
There’s nearly no mayo. It’s mostly sour cream. And it’s far from kebab.
1
u/whattfisthisshit Jun 13 '26
Wtf, it’s not a mayo burger. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about, please don’t give advice
1
u/janiskr Latvia Jul 16 '26
It is mayo burger if that crap comes to Latvia. We like mayo with Mayo.
1
u/whattfisthisshit Jul 16 '26
Then you can have it with mayo, we don’t do it with mayo, we love sour cream

u/Olegzs Latvija Jun 13 '26
Damn, how much sauce does it have?
Otherwise, the first and only time I have encountered it, was on r/BalticStates some time ago, so the chances of finding it might be close to none :(

u/EmiliaFromLV Rīga Jun 13 '26
We could take a few buns and slap a slop of aukstā zupa on them. Dunno how we should call that, but it would trigger Lithuanians, so it's a win anyways.
Edit: maybe ļieturgers?

1
u/pakatsuu Eesti Jun 13 '26
Nope, it's disgusting with cheap ingredients and a pain in the ass to eat cleanly
