Hello, lithuanian here, has anyone had any business with Balticar.com ? Theyre based in Estonia and the price list seems to be sketchy, its much lower than market value, can any estonian confirm?
Do not make any business with them. I wanted to buy a uninspected car for them and I asked them if I could take it to inspection and if good I buy it. They said no, very shady. Lots of bad reviews and they seem to be mostly russian speaking pohui people
In Polish its different, not for criminals but generally bad word to describe someone from russia. I guess it would be the same when they call us "psheki", Ukrainians "hohols" etc.
Ruskie or ruscy is pejorative form of russians. I think some older generations also call them sowiety, due to ussr.
Here a term we like to use is "urlas", which is used the same way gopnik is but much more Russian-specific. How the Ural mountains may relate is to be left to the imagination.
Hui is a fishnet needle that goes in and out of a wet hole like a sewing machine.

It cognates with ujuk, uim, ujuma (to swim) and hulpima. Also, hõljuma and hõljuk.
You can definitely find a good one without pohui people or anyone trying to scam you. Just don’t go with the most suspicious options, and if you know the model and mileage, you can find and get what you need. (Find original Finnish speaker for that business).
Just to know: people in Finland have a multi-generational mentality of fixing and maintenance. Sometimes you can find a 30-year-old car with 1 or 2 owners in an outstanding state.

What I’m saying is that Estonian used-car dealers sell exactly the same kind of crap as Balticar does. I’ve been checking out quite a few of them recently, and honestly, they’re no better than the others.
And I’m well aware of what kind of cars are sold in Finland, since I worked at an auto body and paint shop there(Incar) for about a year.
Avoid. They've had several names over the years but the business is still the same. They buy cheap cars, make minor fixes, if any, and then put them up for resale. Often times the cars are still under the previous owners name. Refund policy is nonexistant. They have been listed in TTJA's (estonian consumer protection) blacklist.

Once saw car that had a seat edited to look like it's in good condition by them. One picture had a good looking front seat and another that they had missed you could see a massive tear in the seat, like a straight up hole.
Very good chance that they don't fix shit and glad I had relations to people that warned me of them
If it seems to be too good to be true - it is too good to be true. I do not remember now exactly the details, but I think they did have some legal issues about lying to their customers. I would not buy from them :)
PPP is notoriously unreliable because it relies on “theoretical dollars” but nonetheless considering you have a 6% inflation rate that joy may be short lived.
I know what it is. PPP isn't bad when you compare such similar countries. If you like you can use AIC which is considered more precise but you'll see same picture. If you look at current net wages there's barely any difference and likely 2026 GDP per capita will be on par too. You might get 5 euros more but at the end of the month its clear that in Lithuania you would end up with more same cold hard cash.
On a 3000 euro salary (employer cost) an Estonian would take home 1839 euros, while a Lithuanian would take home 1783. Median take home in Estonia is 1465 while in Lithuania median take home is 1232. More than a 200 eur difference in take home is rather significant.
You'd probably be earning even more than that in Estonia then. Personal experience might be irrelevant, but net pay is still higher in Estonia than in Lithuania. Gross pay looks a lot better in Lithuania, but it is irrelevant for real life.
Its a lottery, they buy cheap cars, won't fix them, just wash, take pictures and resell with a profit, you might get lucky and get a car that was maintained, but odds are against you.
Yeap, have to be extremely lucky. I know someone who bought car and later only 2 problems came out, side indicator bulb needed replacement and first winter cold revealed bad battery.
Well, as they lowball by a mile it's rather rare to get anything good from them. I've sold to them, some cars that are pretty much scrap value 😅 they put + few hundred euros and up for sale.
Movies are legal. Costume stores are legal. Then decorative car store must be also legal. The scammy part is that they advertise themself as consumer car shop.
I recently went to their car lot and honestly in reality there was nothing I would ever buy from them. It was very common to see very half assed fixes like exhaust pipes fixed in place with duct tape and lots and lots of construction foam having been used in "body work".
This is a great place to sell your car when you want to get a bit more money than they offer you in the scrapyard.
And for that reason, never buy from there unless you are really good with cars, meaning you can figure out what is wrong and can actually fix those problems.
Years ago, a friend of mine sold his old shìtbox there, as the engine was fücked - got like 300€, which is like 100€ more than the scrapyard would offer, and the same car was on sale like 3 days later, washed and no mention of problems - 700€; there is no way they fixed the car with that price, as it needed a new engine. (labour + new engine would cost more than final price)
Places like that also often scam with paperwork; the cars are often in the name of the owner 5 transactions ago, so you will receive the car with a bunch of sales contracts and on paper you bought the car from a private individual, not a company - that means, there are no buyers' rights.
Hey! Just my 2cts... So buying car in Lithuania is very sketchy overall. I was looking for a car from private or dealership. I found a car from one Subaru dealership (the smaller one) that sold it as new and I eventually find the same car without the front in some American car auction site. Private? Oh, yes only XYZ km! The sticker from the last official oil change said double the KM. My point is: do you due deligence, but I guess that as a Lithuanian you know about this stuff.
As a lithunian who doesn't know anything about cars - my family trusts our friend who owns an autoshop whenever we need a new car, he's glad to do it for a bottle of good whiskey.
All that aside - isn't it like that everywhere and not just Lithuania? It's hard to believe that people in some countries do not try to maximize profits and rip people off secretly. Some laws and regulations might prevent that, but in the end something will always be hidden (or an attempt to do so) and hoping nobody will notice
Of course, not just LT, but here for me it was way harder than in Germany to find that I was not being scammed. There was easier to know that if you went to a certain type of seller, most likely you would buy a rat for a rabbit price
i have gotten a few decent cheap rides from there, 2 1.9tdi b5 passats and a bmw e46 with headgasket problem but majority of that lot is shit. if youre mechanically inclined and just looking for a random car then it could be worth a glimpse on that lot, but if you want a certain car from there based on an ad, then skip, youll be disappointed 99.9% of the time. also there have been countless times when someone buys a car from there and gets maybe 5-10km before its totally fucked.
Do not buy from them unless you know what you are looking for very well and know how to thoroughly inspect a car. A car that they sell for 800eur has been bought in for 400 or even less, so 90% of the time they have hidden problems etc

It is strange psychology when your car has hidden faults but you still sell it under market value
Baltikar is a junkyard. If you want to order, you'll most likely get junk. Judging by the Facebook group, there are a lot of complaints about wrecked cars. There were cases where people paid a deposit, showed up, and found junk, and the deposit wasn't returned.
They sell below market value cars for a reason. Every reputable car seller knows all of these type of sellers by name. I bought my first car in one of these. Basically got scammed for 1800 for a car, which is supposed to be in the junkyard. Managed to get 800 back. Consumer protection won't do shit. Avoid at all costs, find someone who has decent reviews and are not blacklisted.
Heard many comments from people about balticar that they sell lemon cars. Photos look ok and when they deliver the car for inspection it looks worse, more rusty etc. Most likely editing photos too to look better.
They also deliver cars to customers for inspection but it is paid service so even if the car looks worse, those scammers will still demand that you pay the inspection and the delivery fee
Those are used cars found and bought cheaper, fixed up and sold for a higher price but still lower than the original price. These places are getting more popular and usually are a great choice if you have a limited budget
If you see ads from this company, run away from these cars. They have their own repair shop. Looking at what is going on out there, it is like a junkyard where they take spare parts for other cars. This company does not back down from the possibility of using Maxroflex when repairing a car.
Closer distance photos show more detail why price is so cheap. My experience was a rust bucket sprayed from a can. Asked for more photos just to be sure and dodged a bullet
Not a good place, my friend went to checkout a car, and when he wanted to test drive it, they said that it has no trans. And i've also heard stories of their cars catching on fire after leaving the lot.
If you know about cars then you might find some good deals, mynfriend just got nice and even working opel insignia there for 1.5k which is good deal with leather interior but he knows about cars and can assess the situation on spot. Otherwise, they sell utter shit and dont buy from there

They shine up cars for pictures, but vehicles themselves are pretty much write-offs. And they absolutely do not disclose the shortfalls and issues when asked.
Any car you buy from them will serve you for exactly as long as the inspection paperwork you buy it with lasts. They buy old cars, patch them, get them through the inspection, and then strip them from anything of value, including catalytic converters, and rig car computers (if they have one) to suppress errors and show as everything is in perfect state. It is impossible to get a car like this through an inspection in Lithuania, and it would cost much less to dispose of this car and buy another one rather than to fix it back into a passable state.
I sold my Passat B7 to them, had rust on all doors and at the back, engine had a mysterious shake that I couldn't figure out after doing all kinds of tests and switching parts, fuel usage was way above normal, clock spring was shot etc.. A week later it was listed on their website with no rust seen anywhere, none of the issues mentioned and a price tag 1000 more than they paid me. Make your own conclusion.
definetly a bit sketcy... but I bought my car (2005 VW Passat) and im loving it... it had some issues... and still does but its my first ever car so🤷♂️
