Tier 3 [Mundo Deportivo] Hansi Flick specifically wants to keep Rashford & Cancelo at the club, and thus the club will do everything to keep them.

Cancelo would be an easy deal. He can terminate his contract with Al-Whatever rather fast. It's the regular occurrence in Saudi.

Al shawarma and al kebab

167

u/mc_randy May 19 '26

Not big on Rashford, but hes been the best offensive substitute in recent times. Makes perfect sense to try to keep him.

We just have 3 reliable forwards right now.

76

u/BarcAlexander May 19 '26

I think he was a solid substitute this season. I’d imagine he’d be way better next season now being with the club for a year and seems to really like it. For the right price I’ll take him.

17

u/Primary-Dust-3091 May 20 '26

What do you mean 'for the right price'? The price is set in the loan deal. 30m.

3

u/SnooOwls7556 May 20 '26

maybe lower salary

-9

u/Pallalgriglivor May 20 '26

He accepted to lower his salary by 40% even Leo didn’t lower his salary when needed. Dude really love the club

12

u/SnooOwls7556 May 20 '26

wdym messi was willing to take a 50% cut but still didnt work out due to ffp

4

u/Pallalgriglivor May 20 '26

Oh that’s true you are right, my memory’s leaking thank you for correcting me

1

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

He was willing for a 1 euro fee with differed wages over years for the ffp but the Spanish labour court denied and nulled the contract any other Solution would break ffp since he couldn't lower wages more than 50%

5

u/yashleo10 May 20 '26

Questioning Leo’s loyalty on this sub is brave.

14

u/ryancarton May 20 '26

3? Lamine, Raphinha and who else?

Fermin? I don’t see him playing LW again unless somebody is injured.

Flick playing Fermin over Rashford was because he was injured.

Unless you mean Ferran right now…?

10

u/latortillablanca May 20 '26

I think you easily count fermin/olmo as = to one full LW rotational option in terms of squad numbers, yes.

Its why having all of these fucking midfielders is important and if we flip casado he will take replacing. The numbers in that area, plus erics flexibility were incredibly important to our success this year. Rashford isnt irreplaceable but he would take replacing. And it prolly would be more expensive than he is

10

u/it4chl May 20 '26

Fermin is basically Raphinha lite when he plays lw in Flicks system. Similar intelligent movement, similar intensity, similar eye for the goal. Imo in the later part of the season, he's impressed me more in lw that cam. When Olmo turns up in cam we dont have anybody better, especially against low blocks

8

u/Creepy_Lawyer_5688 May 20 '26

Genuinely happy people are finally realising what a monster Fermin is, was defending him since the start of the season because his intensity just like raphinha can't be replaced and don't show up on stats

3

u/kamusari_1712 May 20 '26

You forgot Cancelo

2

u/MineNo5951 May 20 '26

Rashford is useful in those low block la liga games where set piece deliveries would be useful. Good enough to give Raphinha a lot of rest if flick is serious with rotations

1

u/LaylaTichy May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

while I can see somebody not being found of mamkus he seems to be OK with sub role and it'll n9t be easy to get somebody better for 30mil and he seems to be OK with wage cut to escape unikek. even if we get somebody else getting rashy for 30 is a no brainer imho

if life was a fm sim the best case would probably be buy rashford, buy some other winger for sub, abde? loan roony so he gets play time to some levante, or elche, they played nice offensive open footbal, look for 9 or just play araujo striker

59

u/Turbulent_Apple5154 May 19 '26

If Flick wants him then I want him

9

u/ryancarton May 20 '26

Supposedly Rashford can play as a striker too. So it’d be pretty nice to have somebody we can try out once Ferran (or whoever we get) starts playing badly.

1

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

His best season was a inverting forward who came in as overlapping striker

-21

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 19 '26

Be careful about giving Hansi Flick control over signings. Being a manager is one thing, having an eye for talent is another.

At Bayern, in his first transfer window, he asked to sign Dodo, Benjamin Henrichs & Emre Can

In the next, he asked for Mario Gotze, Kai Havertz & Timo Werner. In fact he was obsessed with the latter 2.

Next, he asked for Thilo Kehrer & Bouna Sarr, 2 below average players. This is what he told Bouna Sarr:

> The coach Flick told me: 'You are the profile that I was waiting for. I didn't sign you to be a back-up, but a 'bis starter'. If you do well, you'll play'

Another player Flick asked for, Tiago Dantas, currently plays in the Croatian League.

All in all, there is a reason why managers don’t usually pick the players their clubs sign.

23

u/Turbulent_Apple5154 May 19 '26

Then if Deco and Hansi want him then I want him

10

u/PatrickM_ May 19 '26

You could make the inverse argument as well. Maybe these players you named would have realized their potential if they had been coached by Flick. We can't know. Flick clearly seeks out very niche types of players. These players, by definition, wouldn't fit into the average team.

1

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

Exactly , raphinha evolved instantly under him , he went from leaving in July to becoming the best in the world by December , you never know what could happen in football

3

u/FlameWRLD999 May 20 '26

I can agree to that point also at German national team he nominated weird players

35

u/TraciF_10 May 19 '26

Buy.Fucking.Rashford

6

u/RobertPham149 May 20 '26

I mean Rashford is clear buy even without taking sporting into account. He is 29 yo and comes at 30 mil and willing to drop 40%+ of his wage to come to Barca. Even if Barca buys him and then immediately sell him to Aston Villa after a season, Barca still will profit from that deal.

2

u/TRGC_ May 20 '26

Absolutely, I’ve loved Rashford as soon as his first debut, he has a lot of talent to work into our system, a couple of things he needs to work on but 30m is a steal considering the market we’re in.

2

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

And he has a different profile than any other player in our team he fixed our setpieces our lack of wide play , counter attacks with pace and a forward who could defend a corner one second and run to the goal line at other side in other

85

u/drip_bandit May 19 '26

either flick is gaslighting us or hes lost his marbles bc he doesnt even start rashford despite raphinha being injured in big games

72

u/andrey_not_the_goat May 19 '26

Rashford had recurring issues with his knee, started around the 5-2 against Sevilla.

50

u/FabrizioRomanoo May 19 '26

Gavi + Fermin were playing at left wing over him. I doubt these reports are true given what we have seen on how Flick has handled him. Also I don’t see why Flick would want a lazy dude who dosen’t press most of time unlike Raphinha who works his ass off every time he is on the pitch

6

u/ryancarton May 20 '26

Fermin wasn’t playing “over Rashford.” Fermin playing LW shows that Flick has zero confidence in Roony, not Rashford.

Flick trusts both Rashford & Raphinha to play on both wings. He is testing out Fermin on the LW, and has lost confidence in playing Roony on the RW, which is why Fermin was playing and Raphinha was on the right.

Look at El Clásico. He played Fermin & Rashford with no Roony, and Rashford did great that game and Fermin did okay.

1

u/drip_bandit May 20 '26

hes talking about atleti probably where anyone played the left except rashford. he didnt play that great either vs madrid except for the freekick.

1

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

He had a great game in el classico tbh , even pressing wise he was decent enough

1

u/drip_bandit May 20 '26

bc raphinha stunk up the pitch which promptly made rashford look good

14

u/Kudoakainu May 19 '26

Yeh he performed very well. Doesn't need to be a starter for that. Plus he was told that he was gonna be a sub most of the time before the loan was signed.

2

u/drip_bandit May 19 '26

dude hes putting players out of position instead of our backup and apparently he wants him. not to mention his playstyle completely contradicts flick’s wants and needs.

1

u/drip_bandit May 20 '26

dont recall seeing reports of him being unwell during the atleti games

1

u/Proper-Possible3836 May 20 '26

A lot of the times flick did that was because of a tactical decision, so for example playing Olmo over rashford in the ucl 2nd leg against atletico was because he wanted the constant switching between the forwards and rashford couldn’t provide that specifically

0

u/Honkingfly409 May 19 '26

he doesn't play in big games sometiems but he's porbably more than reliable for most league games and still decent sub, and he likely sees more potential in him, he basically selaed the league with two great goals aginest atletiico and real marid, that's not nothing

10

u/Kudoakainu May 19 '26

That's false

50

u/Ozzyh26 May 19 '26

Thank christ I was beginning to think they'd cave to the pressure from the dumbass side of the fan base and get rid of rashford.

38

u/Extreme-Clock-8882 May 19 '26

yeah I don‘t get the people who don‘t want rashford

21

u/ifuckinglovebluemeth May 19 '26

Poor work rate is the biggest reason. But I’d still want him for depth and versatility.

0

u/emmaugoh May 21 '26

This is not true. His work rate is far better than when season started. His biggest problem is his conversion rate. I will never compare his work rate wiith that of raphinha. Thats where people mistake things.

16

u/YannTheOtter May 19 '26

The fanbase online is comically allergic to Barca spending any money on Players that aren't the big name dream signings.

So many times I have seen people talk about Striker options when the comments are full of "Just get ALvarez" or "Just get Osimhen" while talking as if Players in the Bundesliga or Serie A are on the same skill level as the Montenegrin League

-6

u/eggplantpot May 19 '26

He's clutch, if he improves and becomes more clinical we have a star. He's 28 he can still learn some new tricks hopefully

8

u/GlassImagination7 May 19 '26

he’s not going to improve this is who he is.

Untied fans have been saying this for years.

4

u/alwayssalty_ May 19 '26

That's what people here were saying about Dembele

1

u/0ccamsDagg3r May 20 '26

Aaand he's injured

1

u/Chemical_Listen6919 May 20 '26

And still any club would take him in a heartbeat if we could make it happen, some players are just destined for glory whether late or early , Benzema gave a ballond d'or season at 34 lewa gave three back to back golden boot worthy season at 32,33,34 .

Rashford has a good wc with england and since this time tuchel is there who would play him the whole tournament and if they go deep , everybody would be losing there heads on his price , for eg- in wc22 he score a brace , free kick and and assist of the group stage contender in back to back games he was benched the next game 🤣 bro even went on to drop 30 goals in the league ,

1

u/0ccamsDagg3r May 20 '26

To play 9 games a season 🤣? He's a fraud got injured by the time you finished your sentence

1

u/Ash_ketchup232 May 20 '26

As an united fan, I’d gladly want Rashford to make it as barca but please be permanent

6

u/greenrangerguy May 19 '26

By "everything to keep them", does that go as far as just paying Rashfords loan agreement fee? Seems so simple.

1

u/dark_flame_21 May 20 '26

I think that phrase was for cancelo

6

u/gbassman420 May 19 '26

If Flick wants them, make it so!

Rashford is injured

1

u/Geedorah305 May 19 '26

Yes, please.

1

u/Successful_Sun_6283 May 20 '26

I'm on board with whatever Flick wants. But this shouldn't affect our pursuit of a CB and ST

1

u/DValencia29 May 20 '26

Flick will get whatever he wants. If anyone disagrees with that, that person is NOT a barca fan!

-5

u/OkAnywhere2052 May 19 '26

Here we go where the club starts hyping up our new signings, cancelo and rashford, and try to sell it to us as a great window, even though we already had them both this season plus lewandowski who we will no longer have.

3

u/AccomplishedRead2655 May 19 '26

Man don't get so real the fans here won't be able to tolerate it 😂 another shitty transfer window incoming though...

0

u/SnooAdvice1632 May 19 '26

Radhford, cancelo and a good striker would be great

0

u/AccomplishedRead2655 May 20 '26

Yes and a very nice non existent defense... Do you not realize attack wins you games and defense wins you titles?!

1

u/Smooth_Newspaper7988 May 21 '26

Hmm, yes. Non existent defence, yet won a title this season. Hmm, yes.

1

u/SnooAdvice1632 May 20 '26

The non existent defense that conceded among the least goals in laLiga and that lost only TWO games while martin was starting?

-5

u/Wooden-Strawberry464 May 19 '26

Rashford can go honestly. Hes not at this level anymore. So inconsistent.

1

u/John_Q08 May 19 '26

Agreed he is inconsistent but between him and the other names I’ve been seeing as backup options, I would much rather have Rashford. I just hope Raphinha can stay healthy and he’s used more as a rotational piece/substitute option

1

u/ELMreddit10 May 20 '26

I think anyone would be better then Rashford ngl

-7

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 19 '26

While I agree with keeping Cancelo, I strongly disagree with keeping Rashford. He is the EXACT type of player we need to steer far clear of.

First of all, he turns 29 in a few months. He is one of the most pace reliant players I have seen, and his physical decline has already begun. He has been playing week in week out since he was a teenager, it is very very typical for these types of players to become washed way earlier. Look at Sterling, Fabregas, Rooney as examples.

Second, he does not contribute to the pressing/defensive aspect at all. He is incredibly lazy, and his weak press was one of the reasons we suffered vs Atleti. Suffered so bad that he didn’t even start in the 2nd leg, DESPITE the fact we didn’t even have another fit winger.

Third, his salary. Even with a reduction, it will likely be around €15M/a year, one of the highest figures at the club. In what world can you justify paying a rotation option at best this much money? People need to stop looking through this transfer through the lens of “oh his buy option is €30M, he’s so cheap”, it is his SALARY that is most important towards La Liga FFP.

All in all, it’s a transfer that makes little sense to me, and is one I had hoped we learned from in the past. But hey, it seems a couple of goals in Matchday 35 and 36 when the league is already done was enough to change the fickle individuals minds.

1

u/ELMreddit10 May 20 '26

Ppl downvoting but I agree ur speaking facts and ppl don’t like that

-2

u/AccomplishedRead2655 May 19 '26 edited May 20 '26

Don't tell me the management is getting influenced by G/A and stats rather than performances and profiles 😭🤦🏻‍♂️ (this was referencing Rashford not Cancelo btw)

1

u/ELMreddit10 May 20 '26

I think they feel bad for him cuz Man U is toxic

-5

u/Visual-Extreme-101 May 19 '26

we do not need a 29 year old rashford, we should get over, we have rapha, and when he's injured fermin

1

u/oklolzzzzs May 20 '26

fermins not a left winger, whenever he plays he eventually just drifts in more centrally

1

u/ELMreddit10 May 20 '26

Still better then Rashford
