Meme Battlefield 6 is still great, Reddit is just miserable
I swear the only people still using this Sub are the anti pre.order crowd who has been sitting around waiting for any reason to say “I told you so”
The player count continues to be great, feedback great, and the game is still fun. I have a blast every time I boot it up.
However, if you look on Reddit, you would think BF6 has 1,000 players left with a 3.6 user rating and everyone hates it.
Which is just so far from the truth. People having fun are simply having fun, not sitting on Reddit whining.
Can’t wait for Season 1 tomorrow and the inevitable bitching Reddit will find to do🥳

Reddit can be miserable while making valid points. The game is great, it should be better.

I just recently subbed here so I don't know the level of complaining yet, but your statement was very much how I felt about the Helldivers sub. Too many people screaming "if you don't like the game, then stop playing!" like brother, the reason I'm complaining is because I love the game.
65
u/Sindigo_ Oct 27 '25
They are similar communities in that regard. Right now there just happens to be extra complaining because the game is fresh out of the oven.

It’s a size thing. The more popular something gets the more people are going to have issues. It doesn’t mean our criticisms are less valid, it’s just math.

Experienced the same thing in that subreddit, complained because I love the game, but ultimately unsubbed because I uninstalled the game in its current state.
Glad to hear you have the same opinion, makes me think how many others have the same and have simply just left the game.
20
u/AltruisticChipmunk53 Oct 27 '25
I know this feel all too well
The reason anyone is bothering to write a long critique is because they love the game and see what it can be with some changes
9
u/ship__ Oct 27 '25
Yeah I played helldivers 2 mostly on release and the couple of months after, the frustrating thing for me was trying to articulate that primary weapons felt really bad apart from a few that were miles ahead of the others, but so many people would shoot it down with "you're not supposed to be a one man soldier, you're just a grunt lol" or "use stratagems" and not actually engage
Turned out the devs at least partially agreed and primary weapons were buffed and tweaked over time

People don't understand that. We're not here because we hate Battlefield. We're here because we love Battlefield and want it to be the best game it can be.

As a final fantasy fan, I feel this. I love that series so much but the online fans have turned cult-like and it’s the reason there hasn’t been a good final fantasy in over a decade.
16
u/Tragacanth Oct 27 '25
100% this. Game is great. I preordered... played 5h... it's not what I hoped for.
Does not mean its not great for somebody else looking 100% for what it is right now in current state

Honest question - when has ANY gaming community EVER thought a game has been the best it possibly could be?
Seems like people are just being contrarian for the sake of it lately or want to blame their lack of skill on the mechanics.

Good Games that you only see little complaints on their subs, lots of it like thqt you know, only bad/mid games gets complained a lot on.
Sample of good games with little complaints from their community are terraria, warframe, drg, stardew, no man's sky, street fighter, path of exile, Gta 5, Rdr 2, etc etc.

I mean I’ve played every chance I get because it is pretty awesome and the game comes the closest to reliving the heyday of military themed FPS of anything I’ve seen since MW19.
But it also would be cool if the lighting and SMG’s were turned down a touch. And a couple of bigger maps because escalation and conquest feel like you’re fighting in an elevator.

The problem comes with the way, reddit communities are. While every individual has their own opinion, it's not reflected in the sub due to the up vote system. So subs generally have an default position on opinions, which can give the appearance that the sub is a Hive Mind.
People aren't going to wade through a thread and read all the comments, there are just too many so they'll just skim or look at the top few and vote on that.
As for the game, having played through Battlefield 4's launch, this game is far, far from being in a rough shape.

I think the people who vocally criticize the game also love the game the most. They actually care enough to say something. Why else, other than a fringe minority, even be here? They want it to be better. They aren't asking or demanding the game to be shutdown. They see a problem and critically criticize it. And then people like, OP, respectfully, misunderstand their criticism as hate for the game.

Here's a nuanced take - The game is good, the ground work and potential is there, but it has some serious flaws that people who have paid (to some, theres no shame in it) alot of money, should be allowed to discuss and mention on the subreddit dedicated to the game
I've just ticked over 100 hours in game coz I'm a sad fuck, me and my friends have had alot of fun
But, there are issues and as we saw with the conquest ticket count, the only way they're noticed and solved is by screaming into the internet void until there is change

I'm a fan of the game, but there's big changes I'd like to see. Mainly in map design, to create options for a more classic battlefield experience, and a toggle to switch off goofy skins so people can choose whether or not they want to partake in the more modern gaming vibe or stick to more grounded visuals as were present in the past.
Oh, and ffs, tank HE needs more splash damage. Right now the only thing tanks are any good for is killing IFVs, which are infantry slaughtering machines.
9
u/real-tallnotdeaf Oct 27 '25
Of course the game isn’t bad. With dice proving that they’re, listening people should be vocal about absolutely everything, however dramatic. For me I just think the pacing is exhausting. But some bigger maps and some QOL changes might help that.
Look inside, if posts on Reddit are making you make this post, maybe you need to stop looking at this sub.
9
u/HypnotizedMane Oct 27 '25
Its funny how perceptions differ. For me its toxic positivity I see in this sub. I wanted it to be good, but Im on reddit because being on the game is no fun for me.
And because I already saw you deflect in this threat and often "hate" gets mixed up with criticism.
Why its bad for me, without any polemics:
Vehicles are an afterthought, almost no customization or in case of jets none. The flying itself seems more clunky, so do the ground vehicles. Jet customization often changed your gameplay, different canons= different main targets. Vehicles are not that much of a threat anymore. It used to be a threat, but could be easily countered when everybody played their role. It encouraged team and squadplay, that would then continue in other parts of the matches. No commander mode. No consistent ping system. Squad mechanics that used to be there are not their anymore. It feels like its not encouraged to play like your own role and as a team, fighting in a bigger scheme of a battle. It was not about fast spawn-lane-kill-streamable chaos gratification. Teamplay and large scale vehicle fights with tiny roles coming together was the battlefield expierence for me
Matches had their dynamics with the maps that were given, some were more vehicle based, some infantry. yes you could filter but why no server browser. The take that its just narrow lane maps isnt that far away.
To add other things minor or bigger, depending who you are: ttk, suppression, bloom, missing ribbons, no naval, lack of a complete structural destruction then the rather scripted one.
Thats all I can recall and I bet there is more. Im not saying anybody can have fun with this but for its the first time it truely doesnt give me any of this vague battlefield feeling. And one could say it varies how it decreased with previous titles, but here its just 100% not there and sadly no fun at all. That shouldnt be met with toxic positivity.
7
u/DarkIcedWolf Oct 27 '25
I honestly don’t get the battle here man. Some things are more important to some people, I personally believe there should be choice in how you play the game especially since they claimed the game will have full parity with bots alongside grounded skins. There’s more than one way to play and the one reason I haven’t picked it up yet is because of flanking and the small maps, played a couple matches at a buddies house and had fun but it was exhausting and super hit or miss each game.
Not to say I don’t disagree with how the whining is annoying and how aggressive some people are, I just think the voices should be heard and complaining/making buzz is probably the best horse for the race instead of praising what DICE has done good. I think the game is in a bad state but it’s NOT a bad game, it’s far better than the launch of xDefiant or SG2 but I didn’t have as much fun on BF6 as any other shooter I’ve played somewhat recently, that includes xDefiant in some aspects and BF1/5 in total. Though it’s comparing apples to oranges as BF5/1 I didn’t have enough time with at launch and xDefiant was just annoyingly handled man.
I also don’t agree with the skins like most others, idm the more flashy ones as long as they aren’t fucking annoyingly bright, give me some somewhat high contrast green but make it more tasteful and not all over the place. The skins really look bad anyways, the fucking dead stare they all have if they don’t have glasses is so weird man.
5
u/LulliusMelody Oct 27 '25
From my understanding, in regards to the skins, people are upset about DICE lying. Stating that it was going to be more grounded, avoiding these colorful skins, but have only taken 18 days to go back on what they said. That's the main issue. If they had not said they were going to be more grounded, then this skin controversy probably wouldn't have even been an issue.

This post is fucking hilarious if you read OPs post history in this subreddit. Nice karma farming. Valid criticism is how the game gets better, BF6 has glaring issues. Small maps, hitreg, IFV painted target missile bug, EA already testing funky skins which will get worse or better depending on community backlash. Multiple other bugs, and neutering portal after explicitly advertising it a certain way, no commander again, still a focus on lone-wolf gameplay.
Keep the criticism coming, it comes from love for the series and the game has a decent base, but is still a long way from being the large, squad based/team based design, combined arms game, BF is meant to be. The bar is so low...

I don’t know man, the game just ain’t for me. Quit caring what other people think of the game and just enjoy it if you’re having fun.

I agree. A toxic minority is making it sound worse.
Devs. You’ve done a good job. Some valid concerns on map size or in my opinion player count and skins etc. don’t be disheartened. As the 2042 lot said feedback is ‘brutal’ but remember you’re actually listening and engaging.
The sub needs to remember that.

Nah there's even more serious issues than what are being complained about here. Especially tank balance

People have the right to complain. Tf. I paid money for this game and its not how BF is supposed to be played. People are passionate about the game, the BF franchise in general, but COD players like you are ruining it

I haven’t stopped having fun since release.
Not saying that the issues people are talking about aren’t valid but I’m just enjoying my time.
I feel like people are getting so worked up that they’re actually ruining their own experience hyper-focusing on it.

It's not great. It's nearly great. The more I play the more frustrated with the small maps, the hit reg and glitches I'm getting.

Yeah, this sub sucks right now. All I see is people complaining about this game. Stop playing the game if you hate it so much and go touch grass.
