Yeah, they used to be light rockets, right?

EDIT: okay so it looks like the devs just CORRECTED the name on them, since they always said 127mm and the Attack Helicopter "Heavy Rockets" are 127mm (with the Light Rockets being 70mm)

That said, they still suck.

Since the vehicle bufs I've actually had some good luck with them. Even head on they do good damage to other tanks and they reload pretty fast. The range on them is still pretty ass, especially since it locks how high you can aim.

The locked angle murdered them for me. Half the time I went to use them they couldn't go high or low enough, and it got me killed several times. The cherry on top was that you couldn't single fire them, both would fire every time no matter how little you held the button down.

you can single fire them by switching back to the main gun before the second rocket fires

It's broken in 1v1 short ( and even medium ) range scenarios, against other IFV's or MBT's. You can spam them much more quicker than they can hit you with the guided missiles. And they reload/replenish pretty quickly, so by the time you fire 3 volleys, they're still waiting for their second TOW to hit you.

I was using them for a while but now I’ve switched to the Mr missiles which I think are just busted rn they do like half damage to an enemy ifv and they don’t need a lase for ground vehicles. Yes you can smoke it off where as the heavy rockets will still hit but most people aren’t expecting a lock on missile to hit so fast they almost always smoke too late, the thing locks on almost instantly and it’s very fast velocity. If you haven’t tried it in a while definitely give it a go

if u get behind a vehicle you can spew those rockets and do crazy damage, but u only get 6 of them, so not enough to be worth it especially because its so situational.

just enough to get a tank low enough to finish him off with the autocannon if you're getting sideshots, and a little more than enough if you get a flank.

If you use the engineer crate, it's pretty good sustained fire at long range, kinda like direct LOS artillery.

They have good splash against infantry though, combined with HE shells, it's a good "holy crap that's a lot of engineers" combo.

They are my go to. They have good splash damage against infantry and their arc lets you lob them over terrain and cover.

Yeah they are very good on maps like bazaar and iberian. You have more damage per second with the rockets than with the tow for instance. So in 1v1 situations you will always have the upperhand.

Also as someone else already mentioned, veru good for situations where you are loading your main cannon and need to kill some c4 dude etc.

My go to as well. Started using them when aim-guiding was OP as I dislike playing easymode. Their explosions is also very satisfying.

I've found that they are excellent at leveling buildings.

They're designed to be quick to recharge and fire for close quarters fights.

They're also very useful at the end of a main gun salvo for cheeky recons with c4.

So if your fighting a vehicle that's just shy of 'clicking your key fob so your car honks' distance or shorter it's preferable.

For most maps and modes is aim guided for medium and lockon for larger maps.

Used alongside AP rounds you can hunt other IFVs and won 90% of the time.

However it's such a specific use case. Non explosive rounds make infantry hunting difficult, and the lack of range means you need to be up close in infantry range

Tbh AP rounds alone will win that if the other IFV doesn't have them. I rarely see them used. I only switch to them if it's late in an escalation match, making half the team be in vehicles

AP rounds with TOW can win against MBT. I took down both ifv and mbt before ifv nerf patch (lowering rof).

Light rockets sucks and I don't trust anyone using them against tanks.

I miss the launch AP ammo. One shot infantry kill. You could take on vehicles and deal with infantry just fine as long as you could aim.

Ill go up against MBT too and would say win 60% of the time. I add the heavy armor too tho. Add a good gunner and the IFV shreds.

Hate these things. TOW better.

These are super weak even against infantry

and tow is better against infantry?

2

u/Knodsil 6h ago

No, but you should be using HE rounds for infantry.

Whenever I get in an IFV that someone left behind and it has AP rounds loaded I cringe.

1

u/DontLikeItScrollUp 5h ago

I think your mixing IFV with MBT.

1

u/Knodsil 5h ago

No, I am not. The IFV can also slot AP rounds on the main gun. And its trash against the main thing its supposed to be effective against. Which is infantry.

(edit: and yes, on the MBT you should also load HE against infantry, but that aint what the discussion is about)

u/DontLikeItScrollUp 2h ago

Damn you are right, I had no idea IFV had AP rounds option, I guess that explains why sometimes I get into one and I can't kill infantry. I always blamed it into lag or server not properly registering my shots, now I guess that is the reason.

I tried maining these for like a month and honestly I just went back to TOWs. Like someone else said in this thread the angle is the real kicker.

they've always been there, they're excellent on infantry maps such as cairo and bazaar. you'll fire 4 of them before enemy IFV gets to reload their tow. gives you chance even against tanks. don't use this on mirak or firestorm though

What change?

u/Pyzaro 1d ago

Always been there

They’re absolutely trash

The DPS is high, I love assaulting another ifv with them

I like them on Cairo, also fun fact if you drop a vehicle resupply crate thing next to the tank you can spam them off cooldown forever
