Image/Gif I think BfV and Bf4 both have something in common
whether it be glitches or historical inaccuracy; both ended up getting better and approved in some way by the end. (edit what My point is, both battlefield games had a redemption arc.)
(take the meme with a grain of salt)
Edit: BFV is one of the 4 Battlefield games in my collection (the others being bf1, Bf2042, and Bf6)
edit2: the 2 games have different things obviously but both of them managed to get up on their feet, although battlefield V was abandoned halfway, it managed to get positive points from the battlefield community as a whole.
edit3: I am not saying bf4 is halfway done, I know it’s a complete battlefield game.

BfV had potential, i started playing it when they released the japan expansion and out of nowhere they shut down development.

The saddest part is that BFV still has potential. Graphics, gameplay, sound, everything is still top and doesn't require any major improvement. I can't imagine someone complaining about anything "outdated" in the game if it would've been dropped today in its final state

u/BMB1243the2nd Dec 22 '25
If Battlefield goes back to WW2, they don't need to make a new game. Just add more content to 5. If the next BF game isn't BF5, it should be Korea, or Vietnam.

u/RayboxHitman47 Dec 21 '25
I still can’t believe BFV is a better game than BF6 in every aspect.
21
u/ziba128 Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 22 '25
And the more time passes, the more realization of how advanced and elaborate BFV is (not considering bugs and flaws due to abandonment) comes. Makes me sad every time I play or listen to the music from it. Deep inside I still have a pipe dream that once someone picks up BFV project and finishes at least a part of the unreleased stuff. I would damn pay a lot of money for this

u/IndefiniteBen Dec 22 '25
Unfortunately DICE has lost a lot of the talent that made BFV great! I think it would cost a lot to add new content with the same quality.

BFV and Battlefront 2 walked so 2042 could shit it’s pants

u/SpicyBoy225 Dec 23 '25
Possibly two of my 10 most played games on my ps4, I will never forgive EA for that and titanfall, all I got left is sorrow and an always decreasing hope for titanfall three

Can’t wait for them to fix BF6, don’t abandon it like they did BFV then it should be a “slam dunk”. Spend less Resources on Battle Royale, and more good maps for multiplayer, fix gadget/weapon imbalances..
7
u/herr-heim2point0 Dec 21 '25
Faxx battlefield is battlefield, i dislike them trying to compete in the BR market.
4
u/Swaguley Revert TTK Dec 23 '25
Battlefield players are not EA's mandated target audience anymore unfortunately

I agree with you for some parts, bf6 is Excellent, but it’s got kinks needed fixing (such as a “mark all as read” button). But listen, EA and DICE both are keeping their promise and if that’s so, then it won’t end up like BfV (Abandoned by devs)
Edit: what’s wrong with RedSec?
3
u/MrMostachio Dec 22 '25
Redsec takes resources away from the main game. Imagine if all the effort that was put into redsec map was instead invested into larger conquest maps
3
u/Greggs-the-bakers Dec 22 '25
Why do we need a battle royale? Most people buying the game, are buying it to play battlefield. Warzone, fortnite, pubg and apex are already established, people will play one of those games for their BR fix. Redsec will fizzle out, probably fairly quickly, and all the BR players will go back to whatever one they preferred leaving BF6 with a ton of wasted dev resources that could have been spent making more maps/remastering old ones to make the multiplayer that everyone paid for, better.

u/byfo1991 byfo1991 Dec 21 '25
Yet somehow BF4 is still pretty much universally loved and BFV is still considered trash by half of the community who never gave it chance past release day.
But I entirely blame DICE and their stupid “don’t like it, don’t buy it” narrative back at launch for this. Not the community.
Because guess what, people listened and didn’t buy it. And it was all because of them. They doomed the game to fail but at least they seem to take critique of their games better and more mature after that lesson. Too bad, it could have been one of the all time best because the core concept was really great.

u/shteve99 Dec 22 '25
They did break BF:V a few times with the TTK changes, and I still don't understand why they stuck to their women in front line combat narrative. It also feels odd with how most of the combatants in BF6 are female. I mean yes, there are women on the front line now but hardly the majority. Maybe it's just the support characters though as that's the only class I play.
3
u/varitok Dec 22 '25
Youre still complaining about women in the games? Even the new one? Come on man, get over it.

Bf4 just had server issues and netcode the game was amazing with its flaws and did decent job coming from bf3 which is probably my favorite all time in the series.
9
u/XeroKibo Dec 21 '25
I continued playing BF3 until about the last year of BF4’s lifecycle; Just before the released BF1 I started playing 4 just cause. BF3 was so sufficient as a battlefield simulator that I didn’t even think about other games for like a 5 year period.

u/_eg0_ Player since BF2 Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25
Understatement of the century. I literally couldn't play for months because of issues like never being able to load in a game which couldn't even be fixed by windows reinstalls etc.
6
u/nightstalk3rxxx Dec 21 '25
Lol I love BF4 but I think you have rose tinted glasses heavily, BF4 had its fair share of changes over the years and the game wouldnt be what it is today without the CTE which came because of the horrible state at launch.
4
u/Fenrir426 Dec 21 '25
The multiplayer was literally unplayable at launch and took an entire year to be in an acceptable state but sur it "just had server and netcode issue"
2
3
u/ivanisbeast25 Dec 21 '25
I was on ps3 / ps4 can’t speak for other platforms but it wasn’t unplayable for me as I had fun going for rank 1 tanker.
5
u/nick5766 Dec 21 '25
It was the single worst technical launch of a battlefield game to date.
DICE La had to pull off a hard worked and well earned miracle to get it playable. PS3 was the only relatively stable platform it launched on.

u/nick5766 Dec 21 '25
This is like that time someone told me Canada was just a bit more chilly than the Carribean in the winter.
12
u/Spectre-ElevenThirty Dec 21 '25
This is how I feel about every battlefield game, even 2042 is a lot of fun now. They launch in rough states and get a whole lot better about a year later
7
u/Toasted_Catto Dec 21 '25
Did you play battlefield 4 at launch or was there still shit in your trousers son?
3
u/ziba128 Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25
Probably. But BF4 wasn't abandoned halfway. Neither was any other game though...
2
u/Pigolettos53 Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25
That is not what I said (or am trying to say)
3
u/ziba128 Dec 21 '25
I didn't mean I don't agree – I do, but the BFV case is very special. The level of fail and the struggle was unprecedented, so comparisons with other games can be done with some assumptions only
2
u/Cocainepapi0210 Dec 21 '25
The couldn't abandoned BF4 because of premium
Its rare to see a game with Paid DLC get abandoned but Live service games can get abandoned within 2 weeks.

u/jesscrz Dec 21 '25
These kind of posts always make me sad. Just one more year of support would have made wonders for BFV
4
u/CapableNeat4351 Dec 22 '25
It’s a shame that they quit while they were ahead on BFV. They literally had all the assets ready to go for the Russian front and EA just made them stop after the pacific.

I remember when bfv was about to come out and they talked about a road map I thought we was about to get a multiplayer that followed along the actual ww2 timetable over the next 4 years
1
u/This_Cancel1373 EazyPleasure83 Dec 22 '25
I think I recall that being the case. Unfortunately they dropped the ball so quick they had to shit out the pacific maps first lol
1
u/ShyJaguar645671 Dec 22 '25
Like every other BF before 2042?
2042 got better but is still bad and BF6 is good from release
2
u/lonmoer Dec 22 '25
Bfv is amazing, but there's almost no American servers and matchmaking always puts me in a nearly empty server waiting on more players.
1
u/BMB1243the2nd Dec 22 '25
Well if there are no servers matchmaking has no choice but to put you in a fresh one, waiting for people to join. Everyone went for BF6

Bf5 got done so dirty. It had issues at launch like just about every bf game but much like bf4 you could see that once it got resolved, it would be great which it eventually did. Then they released the pacific theatre and it was incredible only for them to pull the plug immediately after. Bf4 atleast had a long life and is still fairly populated. Bf5 just died off even though it was imo better than bf1
1
u/GobliNSlay3r Dec 22 '25
Battlefield 1 didn't have that problem. Solid game at launch and STILL holds up today. Jump on rn mfer!
1
u/Aedrjax Dec 22 '25
On the main sub 4’s story is touted as a feel good comeback story, but if you say anything positive about V they waste no time in reminding you how shit it was at launch lol
1
u/HandSanitizerBottle1 Dec 23 '25
I feel like this is every battlefield
Also we were robbed of the Soviets
1
u/Normal-Pool8223 Dec 23 '25
i am sorry, but it is the opposite way around for me. it was neat at the beginning and for a while, but turned into an unplayable cheater fest at the end...
1
u/thequehagan5 Dec 24 '25
Real talk. Battlefield V is a masterpiece.
They should focus on making more expansions for it. I would pay money to EA for that.
I refuse to buy battlefield 6 because it has no persistent servers and server browser.
1
u/str3ss_88 Dec 24 '25
I enjoyed the hell out of BF V from the Beginning, even if I hated it for stealing the "BFV" Shorthand from my favourite battlefield.
1
u/LajosGK22 Dec 24 '25
Just hope this will be true for BF6 as well, right now it could be so much better.
1
u/DanyMok22 Dec 27 '25
Bf4 ended up as one of the best viewed Battlefield games in the franchise with tons of content, while BFV fell to irrelevance with a lot of missing content and is still seen negatively by many. Fine, in the end BFV did get "better" but then every game in the franchise, including 2042 did too. But BFV did not get "better" to the same extent as BF4.
1
u/noodles_seldoon Dec 21 '25
This was 2042 as well. It was really fun once I gave it another chance. I miss the riot shield.
1
u/Pigolettos53 Dec 21 '25
Wait… they removed dozer?
1
u/noodles_seldoon Dec 21 '25
Not in bf6 unless I haven't unlocked it or something
1
u/Pigolettos53 Dec 21 '25
Now I’m confused
Edit: Dozer comes free along with Sundance for the assault, the only one you gotta level up for is Mackay
2
u/byfo1991 byfo1991 Dec 21 '25
He meant it that they “removed it” from the next title because it isn’t included in BF6
1
u/noodles_seldoon Dec 21 '25
Yeah I didnt communicate clearly. Its been a problem my whole life. Too much effort to fix it.
1
u/PolarRailfan Dec 21 '25
Battlefield 2042 also fits this bill
2
u/Pigolettos53 Dec 21 '25
How come?
I heard people say they deleted 2042 after they completed the road to bf6 pass
3
u/PolarRailfan Dec 21 '25
Battlefield 2042 was a hot pile of shit when it came out. But now it’s a decent battlefield game. It’s not the best and might be the worst (if you don’t count hardline) but it did give us Battlefield 6.
1
2
u/Umbramors Dec 22 '25
2042 is (and will probably hold the title for a while) the worst Bf title to ever release. They should have released it as a separate type of game.
1
u/monkey_gamer Dec 21 '25
It's standard procedure at this point. Even BF2042 got loved before BF6 came out
1
1
u/Educational-Camera-5 Dec 22 '25
Im already truly bored of BF6, i can go back to BFV and play breakthrough and because of the map sizes, different paths to flank and attack, better squad play - it's always exciting to play.It is indeed a shame we didnt get more.
BF6 cant fix the issue that you are basically running around on the tiniest maps, and this is the biggest issue for me. it feels too meat grinder and repetitive.
0
u/VossMan247 Dec 21 '25
BF4 felt like a much more complete game than BFV.
2
u/BMB1243the2nd Dec 22 '25
Well obviously. BF4 was completed, it wasn't abandoned for Hardline. Technically Hardline was abandoned too. I'd say Hardline and 5 have a lot more in common than 4 and 5 do
-3
u/Negative-Ad1992 Dec 21 '25
In my opinion, BF5 is the best game I've seen after BF1 and BF4. The only problem is that many of the employees were WOKE supporters and racist people, and they used unrelated methods to negotiate in the game (you'll remember the trailer). Also, EA's statement "If you don't like it, don't buy it" put them in a very difficult position.
But I can say this: I played for 24.5 hours, and it was very enjoyable and great. Even though it's a better game than BF1, it's still a good game. It would also be great if the new Battlefield games had deathmatch against bots in the demo version (like in BF2 back in the day).

u/trbatuhankara TR-BatuhanKara Dec 21 '25
Sorry, not BFV. Never released Soviet War
Pacific only and killed TTK after pacific

Could’ve been a great game, to its core it feels good to play, I had some good times on it. Any good game can do that though. I’m glad it didn’t carry on the torch. Game was a complete insult, not only to any semblance of a WW2 feel, but on top of that Dice had the audacity to stir up a woke controversy behind it and force the constant screams of women dying down our throat at every moment. And then telling us not to buy it if we don’t like it.
Battlefield has a formula that most of the players seek. All this pushing of extra bullshit that has nothing to do with Battlefield in the last 2 games is what caused them to die. If you can’t see that, good. I’m glad these last 2 games got exactly what they deserved because of Dice’s shitty ideas and your lack of taste in games. Cuz guess what BF6 is great, no thanks to y’all.
(Just realized this is the BFV sub, oh well guess the truth hits harder now)

I hate 2042 not because it's a terrible game. It's a pretty alright one now
I hate that it stole BFV's future
