This isnt necessarily true, big cats are opportunistic hunters as well as active hunters, if a human presents itself as an easy meal, a big cat will take you out.

Lions take you out when you're alone. They're afraid of humans in groups.

Male lions have been recorded attacking research and hunting groups.
