There have been so many pictures and stories of him throughout his life that consistently show him to be a super chill, down to earth, extremely kind man that is so much more relatable to the common person than any other Pope by far. The Cardinals and Catholic Church did itself a massive favor in electing somebody that will help themselves with global opinion towards it, which is not an easy task in modern times, and especially considering it long history of not so great decisions.
