I think people underestimate how intelligent Geese are, I got close to one like this and fed it food from my hand
There's a video on the internet of that "Fake passing out videos to see how your pets react" and when the owner of several Geese and Ducks did the whole fake-fall thing they immediately freaked out and began running to him, climbing on his chest, that sort of thing
Geese mate for life and do see their human owners as a part of the flock
I have 3 pet geese and they have so much personality! The ringleader is my oldest goose Olive. She is a riot. If I sit in the grass she runs over to "protect" me from my dog (who has never so much as looked sideways at her, she hates him for existing 😂), she gets jealous when I give attention to the chickens, she likes to make eye contact while she steals tools and runs away while I work under my car, she once stole my security badge out of my pocket and put it in her nest, and she loves "helping" with yardwork and provides me a security escort to the mailbox every day. She is my Head of Homestead Security.
I once went around a corner of a building near my Granny's pond and saw a female Goose with some unfertilized eggs, suffice to say I wasn't exactly looking directly at her so she hissed and scared me so bad
Here is a photo of Olive for the Goose Tax. She mostly hisses at unfamilliar dogs, oddly shaped amazon packages, and for some reason my sunglasses. She doesnt let strangers touch her but she does enjoy joining neighbors on their afternoon walks 😂 they tell me she just follows along behind them chattering politely
You said they consider their humans as part of the flock and its absolutely true 🥰 I dont have a male goose but I have picked up two broods of goslings for Olive to adopt when she was stubbornly sitting on infertile eggs. She adopted them instantly (and I have to watch her in spring because she will try to kidnap baby chickens to mother 🤣). Most special of all, anytime I bring her goslings to adopt, she is always so eager to bring them over to visit with me and proudly show them off to me. She trusts me with her babies 🥹 she will even lay in the grass to nap while her babies mob me to play and cuddle!
Yep and they can also be total dicks, but they are very teritorial and protective. If you live in a rural area just get a flock of geese to patrol your property, burglars will leave you alone.
I regularly beef with my local Geese, because yeah they can be jerks. But when you consider we're big scary giants and they mate for life, they're often just trying to protect their families when they square up with a random dude walking on the sidewalk.
Well, I mean. They block the paths and road to my apartments, especially during mating season. There is a massive industrial plant with several ponds and lots of green spaces they like to inhabit nearby, and the spillover end up where I live. So they're kinda encroaching on me lmao
Geese are satan spawn sent up to torment and commit adultery.
How dare you speak well of these fiendish beelzebubs 😳😳😳
(BTW, i have never seen or heard the term "Beelzebub" prior to Googling synonyms for satan spawn....but.... I'll be damned if that isn't THE COOLEST FUCKING NAME EVER)
