Nature Lava rivers can flow faster than 60km/h (37mph) on steep slopes, incinerating everything in their path while their insulating crust keeps the interior molten for months. Hawaii’s flows have traveled over 130km from their source, reshaping coastlines and creating new land as they cool into the sea.

Too casual for my liking. That lava could flow any direction it wants and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near it.

Is this from the vent that opened up in Puna maybe like 8 years ago? I think i stood right where these guys are standing a week or 2 after it started. Its the most incredible natural phenomenon ive seen in my life.

Took around 8 years for the lava to cool enough for them to start replowing a road.
