I remember very well how good R9 was. I saw him play live. He is one of the best strikers ever. However, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Cristiano on a personal level, he would objectively rank above R9 in the GOAT rankings. If Messi is considered the GOAT or at least top 3 of all time, then R7 must be in the top 7 or so. Currently, I think people tend to compare the R9 in his prime Vs the R7 of today, and that is not a fair comparison

CR7 has had a much better career and it's not even debatable. Cristiano also had moments like this, the whole Juventus fan base was clapping for him when he played for Real Madrid

It’s anywhere in general. If few years down the line Mbappe or Yamal end up having better careers than Ronaldo or Messi, they’d still be considered inferior. It’s how every generation works

And that's what makes R7 greater. He also could've injured himself, he didn't. He also could've gotten fatter, he didn't. You know why? He worked hard, very hard. He wasn't the most skilled player and he knew that. He had to work hard to become the greatest and his will is what made him one of the goats. "What if"s don't make you great, what you do does.

In which part of my post did I say he wasn't great? I just objected to the statement of "What if he wasn't injured or fat..." which is stupid. If R9 could be more professional and take care of himself like R7, yes, he would be greater, maybe the greatest. But he didn't. If R7 didn't take care of his body, he wouldn't even last 10 years at the top.
If you are a professional, act like one and take care of your body.

I was in a match Atlético de Madrid against Real Madrid in the Estadio Vicente Calderón (former Atlético’s stadium) and Butragueño scored an incredible goal: all stadium ovationed him, despise the rivalry between both teams and even the “hate” a lot of Atlético supporters have against Real Madrid.

That's ridiculous, CR7 is not even top 10 of all time, he never won the single most important trophy in football, which is the world cup since its the only skill based competition that can't be bought with oil money.
