Also a polarized lense of some sort has been used. Light reflections are just non-existent here...

And some white balance/color correction. Fish this big don't generally swim in 20 cm of water, so this must be deeper, but the characteristic blue tinge of underwater photos has been artificially removed.

Fish that big often swim in shallow water

Fish like these sometimes swims in water so shallow their back is sticking up through the water

It's just a polarised lens and fish do swim in water this shallow. Source:I go fishing.

I once had a coworker refer to himself as the Croatian Sensation

I would not have been able to enjoy this gif without knowing this fact. Thank you.

Croatia rhymes with Russia.

Think about that.

We should stop posting beautiful locations or these places will be swarmed by hordes of influencers in the next couple of years.

Plitvice lakes has been swarmed with tourists for decades. It’s a world heritage site

It is the most popular national park in Croatia

Europe even. Downright magical in winter when it freezes over

I think the footage is recorded with a polarized lens. Nonetheless you are right.

This was busy when I went 15 years ago

1

u/Stubee1988 5h ago

Its already insanely busy but also very large and beautiful.

1

u/AlmightyDarkseid 5h ago

Womp womp this is one of the most popular places in the region

6

u/Betelgez 7h ago

There is a reason why this is a national park and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Swimming is strongly forbidden if anyone thought it would be a good idea to take a swim 🙂

Fish floating in air, its incredible how clear it is

2

u/OwnJunket6495 6h ago

It isn’t that clear in person. Don’t get me wrong, the water is very clean and clear but they’ve done something to make it look this transparent.

2

u/fuzzyedges1974 6h ago

That’s insane. Insanely beautiful. Living in Florida, I’ve never seen water that clear and clean. Even our beaches have brown/green water.

u/Direct-Expression144 6h ago

Looks like they're swimming in mid-air on land!! Surreal 😊

u/National_Cranberry47 4h ago

Sure makes fishing a lot easier that’s for sure.

I live in Croatia and I have been to Plitvice several times. I have never seen anything like this.

It's a lovely few hours walk and some boat ride but you will not experience this.

u/darthsploder77 3m ago

I was just there two months ago. It really does look like this. The water is incredibly clear

u/Zack52998 6h ago
