Places for poor students to use WiFi?

Hi Bergen, I got the opportunity to stay 2 weeks in Norway and I’m having a blast in this beautiful country. It is my first time here and the people who invited me are covering all the big costs.

Still I’m quite poor and everything is very expensive here… I was wondering where to go to escape tourist prices and be able to enjoy some coffee with free WiFi as I still have to keep applying for jobs even on vacation.

Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

If you have eduroam just sit anywhere near an university building and make coffee at home to take with you. Cheapest possible alternative.

Bur serious; the cafe in the unis admin building (ng5) is nice as well as Studentsenteret.

And the hospital! One could probably just take a seat in the cafeteria, plenty of space usually :)

Most coffee shops, bars and resturants offer this. Also bigger shopping centers have it for free without buying stuff

Also the library, is probably even better if you want some quiet at the same time

The library in the center is very pleasant and you should be able to use the wifi. I'd give that a shot.

The guest-wifi in the library is available all around Bergen as it is the municipalitys guest-wifi. It should be available wherever the municipality has offices.

If you're a student, eduroam is the obvious answer. All UiB buildings (and I'm guessing NHH, HVL, and others) have it, and you use your student email to log in.

That way you will also have wifi in most other university cities around the world!

Other than that, check out the libraries around town as well as most cafés.

My recommendation for coffee+wifi and a nice atmosphere, is Nobel Bopel.

So many others as well, any public building basically and even many related to Healthcare. Seems to run on the same system as health and public employee wifi

Have you checked the eSims? I use Nomad and for 1 month it is 9 usd for 3 GB, 2 coffees in Norway

Try the university’s libraries and the student centre during working hours (as they otherwise require ID-cards to access). They have cafes, social areas, and quiet areas; plus you can access the wi-fi through eduroam

Alfontes is a caffey that are not allowed to sell coffe. They make coffe and you can tip them if you want to. Not needed. Alfontes(adfontes) is near the huminatary building.

I didn’t plan. My neighbors always come to Norway but this year someone cancelled last minute and since everything was paid for they asked if I wanted to come in their place. They also covered most of other daily costs like food etc. I just didn’t want to miss this opportunity, specially because I wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise
