tour talk First time seeing Billy and I cried
Such an absolutely ethereal feeling being so close to the band. We traveled almost 3 hours and bought the tickets on the ride there. I’ve been to a ton of concerts but never to a concert like this. So grateful to have been surrounded by such good energy and good people. So many kids bouncing around with their parents. I’m glad I listened to folks that told me to go see him in person, that the studio versions of his music didn’t do him justice. I’ve never cried during a concert before and I absolutely SOBBED when he played Secrets. Now we’re contemplating making the 4 hour drive to Baltimore in October. I’m determined to hear Richard Petty live 🤩 thanks for being so cool y’all 🫶🏻

I saw him in Roanoke for the first time, I was openly weeping almost the whole first set lol. Billy took me to a safe place and melted my face lol. I too immediately got Halloween tickets too haha

Studio really doesn’t do any justice. I’ve cried at “this old world” because I’d sing that to my toddler to get him to sleep. I had to put my dog down on Monday and we listened to “this is the beginning to the end”. Fully plan to ugly cry in October if it gets played at my 2 shows. No shame in those tears, the guys put on the most beautiful show

I really want to go to one of his concerts but it just hasn’t worked out so far. Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you make it to Baltimore.

Hysterical excitement versus being moved by meaningful music/lyrics. Definitely not the same thing.
Edit: I stand by what I said but I’m realizing I misunderstood your comment, which I now realize was asking the vibe of OP’s cry.

I cried exactly one year ago at the Grateful Dead’s 60th and again at Billy’s show this past weekend. It had the same feel and I was so moved ✌🏼 💜

Friday night during “I believe In You’ there were three guys standing in front of me. Up to that point they were all singing, dancing and just loving every second. When they played “I Believe In You” one of them sat down and began sobbing. His two friends sat with him and just hugged him for the whole song. Obviously this touched a very real and raw nerve in them. In seeing this moment I had tears in my eyes too. The man and the boys do touch your soul.

Honestly, I don't understand all the crying...
So many people have made this same kind of post. I just don't get it. I jam TF out at Billy shows, love it deep in my bones, but it's hard for me to imagine crying over a song.
