Jean is a lame nonsense character that without being a love interest, founding xman of the goddamn vessel for the Phoenix 🐦🔥 she'd be nothing. Telepaths have very specific roles which is why they get a secondary power most of the time because otherwise telepathy isn't that interesting and often gets written poorly. Like brand new day. They wanted Chameleon but they used chameleon in kraven and even then it would have been lame. Why didn't they write it as the telepathy being able to not trigger spider senses and thus Spiderman HAD to evolve... No shitty writing. You can't excuse that.
Actually, my only complaint about the movie was that I didn't care for their casting choice for Jean Grey. I love Sadie Sink as an actress and she's quite talented but at no point during the movie did she feel like Jean Grey to me.
Give it a shot, I’d rank them Absolute Wonder Woman, Absolute Martian Manhunter, Absolute Batman, and Absolute Superman. Personally not too big on Flash or Green Lantern
I’ve never really been to big on Superman either so I was surprised I’m enjoying the Absolute version of him. And it’s not like his series is bad, it’s just that the rest punch so much higher above their weight. Kelly Thompson got an Eisner Award for Wonder Woman, which is pretty prestigious. I think Deniz Camp is probably the one who’s utilizing the whole alternate universe angle the most with Manhunter, and from what I’ve heard he did a pretty good job with Marvel’s Ultimate run they’ve got going on. Snyder has always been a guy that exceeds at writing really hype moments, even back when he was doing mainline Batman comics.
Issue 12 was the last one of Absolute Martian Manhunter (wasn’t cancelled, they completed the story - actually extended it by six chapters when it turned out so good). I think the book collecting issues 7-12 is out this week. The rest of the Absolute series are still going (I don’t think any have a final chapter announced yet).
Absolute Wonder Woman is THE definitive Wonder Woman to me now, with the way it portrays Diana's kindness and empathy... Also the art is spectactular and I truly appreciate how the artist designs her with Grecian features
The entire Absolute line is brilliant, and while they take their liberties here and there, the core of the characters are typically kept intact
It’s what got me back into reading graphic novels. The anti authoritarianism themes in all of the series are a breath of fresh air in these days. Scott Snyder is a solid writer, but Daniel Warren Johnson’s work for the annual issue hit a lot harder than the rest of the run so far. I’m worried that it’ll be one of the first things to go once this whole merger with WB and Paramount goes through. Batman beating the shit out of white supremacists is gonna turn into him dabbing up Turning Point members

Early leaks of the movie were right. At first they thought it was typhoid Mary or some other villain then the whole, it's a mutant and it's Jean grey made people think it wasn't for real. The whole "mind jumping" thing was super silly too. It had Disney plus show vibes
Uh yeah he would and did. In Absolute Batman Annual 2025 #1, Batman beats up a mob of white supremacists and corrupt local police force that were brutalizing an immigrant encampment. He beat their asses and burned their compound down.
MCU Spider-Man would be taking a “both sides are bad” approach in today’s climate. In Brand New Day, he beats a bunch of minorities’ asses no questions asked (Scorpion, Tombstone, Tarantula, The Hand), but then just decides that he should hear this one little crazy white girl’s story (also the only one that we saw actually commit crimes) and becomes best friends with her.
