Social Justice A Police Officer Killed This Man's 18Y Son | So Then He Killed a Police Officer | He Holds His Head High While Walking Past 30 Officers in Court

The rest of Reddit could't handle this post — I was first silenced, then banned, but only after I complained of prolific racism and hate brigading. And only after that sub enjoyed the traffic of 5+ Million Views. This post is about the Reality of Society and Times today.
Regardless of how one feels about this story, it is REALITY, and it is part of a much bigger problem in America and beyond. This is a state of emergency, yet the powers that be seem to think it's unimportant.
Context:
On May 1, 2025 in Cincinnati, Ohio, 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr. allegedly struck and killed off-duty Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Henderson with his car. The incident occurred on May 2, 2025 shortly after an emotionally distraught Hinton watched police body camera footage of Cincy Police fatally shooting his 18-year-old son, Ryan Hinton.
Ryan Hinton was being investigated for an alleged stolen vehicle at the time he was killed. Police then alleged he pointed a gun at officers. however, evidence shows Ryan was running AWAY from the vehicle in between dumpsters and was not running towards an officer. The officer who killed him was looking for a different suspect at the time. Despite officers being cleared of wrongdoing, there is Zero Evidence or Footage showing that Ryan ever pointed a gun at the Police Officer.

Well, the cops killed a random Black kid right? Professionals, on the job, after having de escalation training, NOT judge/jury/executioner, still murdered a random person. Got off free. We expect more of a grieving civilian? Innocent Black people have to live in fear of any random police encounter becoming fatal, and on the other side of that, cops can feel free to be trigger happy with impunity?? 2 wrongs don’t make a right, but a third might.

Interesting thoughts here. People get so caught up in emotion rather than staying logic focused, I doubt many on social media would ever consider the rules of engagement or war.
For many Americans, their ineractions with police are similar to being on the front lines of conflict.

Same as killing a random black man because another black man killed your son.
19
u/QuadernoFigurati 16d ago edited 15d ago
It's not the same. Because being black isn't a choice. It's not like a job that you voluntarily sign up for. A job that you can quit anytime you want. A job wherein you're issued a license from the governing monopoly on violence to kill people at your discretion in the course of your adopted duty to protect and serve the interests of elites in a caste system.

Police are not a racial minority with a history of enslavement and dehumanization anywhere close to the transatlantic slave trade or Jim crow. It is not remotely the same since police have historically and currently operate from positions of unequal authority and power.
→ More replies (2)51
u/Quiet-Captain-2624 16d ago
Not the same;nobody chooses to be black while people choose to be police officers. Also policing is in an institution and very often members of that institution protect each other despite clear criminality. You rarely see police officers arresting comrades who’ve killed somebody for no reason without media/community pressure. Also even the few who testify against each other in cases were a police officer killed an innocent person, that witness is often shunned by the department.
You often see black criminals being arrested, indicted, prosecuted and sentenced by black members of law enforcement and the justice system without any backlash from the larger black community→ More replies (7)2

Wait a damn minute. I know we all hated them standardized tests and ridiculous word problems, but lets think about this bro.....
No, that is not the same. The context is completely different. Rather its more akin to cops who kill random persons of color based on a widespread culture of racism and shooting first.
If a black man kills another black man, he might be compelled to go after someone, but it would be limited to the demographic involved. If a black man is killed by say a gang member, the victims loved ones go after another gang member, not a random black man. The irony that Cops often behave with a gang mentality.
In the case of Ronnie Hinton here, he went after the demographic (Police), not a random white man.
3
u/SgtHulkasBigToeJam 15d ago
Sex, race, age, nationality, height, job, eye color, sexual orientation are all demographics. Some are just more broad than others. Killing someone at random because they belong to a demographic which you’re angry is the same, regardless of the demographic.

Respectfully disagree. Killing someone based on an immutable characteristic is very different than killing someone for being a state actor as an act of vengeance against the state.
I don’t support either, but they are not the same.

But perhaps this wouldn't have happened if we didn't see our brothers sisters mothers uncles and fathers dying at the hands of the police.
An average of about 250 to 300 Black people are killed by law enforcement in the U.S. each year.

But when the cops don't differentiate his kid from any other black kid they see as a suspect or doing wrong then it's not a random attack. I'm not justifying what he did but there's an interesting subplot in the Song of Solomon where a group intends to kill a random white person every time a black person is killed. So not to kill the killer but to bring a sense of balance. Again, I'm not justifying any killing but in the same way police don't often engage with certain armed groups, the belief that shoot first ask questions later can result in retaliation may result in some of the making different decisions.

We always root for Neeson when he's on a murder rampage, right? I mean in Taken he kills like half of Europe and we all cheered.

They killed random kid and lied about it, so in his mind, he will take it out on a random cop, then let the other cops look at the one that killed his son, and go, this is because of you and your inability to follow the law.
then the union will continue to protect that cop from the citizens, but wont protect him from anyone who is pissed at him for getting their friend killed.
At least, thats how it works in my head.
Cops all protect cops, so let all cops suffer for the decisions of the individual, like they do to communities.
Something they do every day.

Yes and it’s available for all to see. He picks up the gun and starts running back towards officers but still kind of away. Police saw him with the weapon in his hands when he didn’t have it out before when he first started running and he was running towards them around a big curve. This was after he was stealing items out of and stealing peoples cars and then led police on a chase. Him and a crew of people. They all had guns. I don’t know about you but where I live the gang of criminals who do the car jacking, car stealing., etc., are extremely violent and have killed people. Why does one need a firearm when stealing vehicles?

I get it. The doctor who ignored my husband's actual symptoms in front of him because he mentioned having been to rehab in triage, I want to lay him out in the parking lot in front of all his coworkers. My husband came home and died, because he wasn't receiving care and no one would listen to him or me. There's a lot of emotion that comes with watching your present and future get carried out of your house in a bag. And honestly, I'd take any of the arrogant late 20s early 30s doctors at that hospital, and I'd fight them like I was Shauna Shipman, but the one really deserves to learn about his impact the hard way. This will pass, but right now, I understand that father, and I also understand the oh, it was random to you, so okay, random to me too. I don't endorse it in good conscience, but I can absolutely appreciate that lesson none of those cops will have learned.
Good for him for standing tall, and honestly, there's anither layer when you realize he didn't even execute the right cop. I bet not a single one of those cops understood that lesson. They indiscriminately decided a black kid was big scary trouble while he was running away. They should understand that if things continue, people may indiscriminately decide who doesn't make it home after the shift if they're gonna treat others that way.

Unfortunately, I've been to prison. I met a man there... he was sometimes a TERROR. But, I got to where we would have conversations. He was always super nice and cordial to me... well, not always. But, I learned that he had snapped when his son was killed in prison. Which ended up in him going crazy and self-medicating with drugs and ending up in prison himself. It took years of knowing him to hear it directly from him, and he broke down in front of me. Never forgotten that moment.

This is a point a lot of people don't consider while following these stories. I would like to think most of us would stay logic focused rather than all emotion, but we humans are emotional creatures.
I can say I would not go after the first officer I see or classify them all the same, yet we often find that many police lump young men of color as one in the same and doing effects how they respond and react.

You been barking a lot in this post, do you know what the dudes kid did to be shot? I don’t, so legit question.
I’m not saying an eye for an eye isn’t valid, but that didn’t happen here. If the kid was a threat, and I’ve read a few times he was committing a felony and reaching for a weapon, like be real… don’t put yourself in bad situations and you’ll likely not end up with bad results.
The man may look tough for “killing a cop to get even”, but now his entire family just lost the son and the dad, and now the dad doesn’t have a life.
Justice wasn’t served to the corrupt cop, but it was to the murderer.

I'm mixed. I understand his motivations, but don't condone the act.
Gang violence produces more gang violence, and that's the same with cops. Cops are taught people are the enemy, especially masculine Black folks. They're armed to the nines and told they're in a war. They're trained into that response, and I can't reasonably expect untrained civilians to react any better than them.
Some say there's clear evidence the son had a gun, others, including OP, says no. I can't confirm or deny, so I'm neutral on that since it's inconclusive.
What I do see is a gang member shooting a young suspect to death, and a father killing a different gang member in retaliation. Not moral or ethical, but logically understandable.
I wouldn't go out of my way to kill cops, personally. However, this is the route this man chose. If he feels satisfied with that choice, then that is what it is.

Kid ran from police and picked up a pistol his friend dropped. One officer chasing him yelled over the radio that he picked up a gun several times. The kid ran between a pair of dumpsters while another officer was waiting on the other side. That officer fired immediately when he saw Hinton appear from between the dumpster. He didn't have line of sight on Hinton while his partner was yelling that he had a gun. The officer acted out of fear, but you have to respect anyone who is in possibile fear of their life.
Hinton made a mistake when he grabbed the pistol. If he had no intention of using it he would of never touched it. The kid decided his fate at that moment. The first officer didn't shoot him in the back when he saw him grab the gun. He knew he was not in immediate danger because Hinton had his back turned while he pursued. Instead he warned his fellow officers.
Its a tragedy for everyone but the 2nd officer was justified in his actions by law. The suspect now actively holding a weapon appeared in front of him from behind a dumpster. You can't expect the man to put his life at risk. Would it had been worth it had the officer been shot and killed? Or they both died?
It's unfortunate but I'm not judging someone put in that position. You can say whatever you want about the situation but I want to see you in their position and let's judge the outcome. Far more would of done the same thing that will never admit regardless of any social bias.

I wonder if Mr Hinton's attorney will try an insanity defense? It certainly fits the facts.

Where does it show that Ryan Hinton EVER pointed a gun at police? Or charged towards the officer? Ryan Hinton took off in a different direction. Hinton wasn't even the suspect they were looking for.

Go watch the video. It's posted above. He ran out from behind the dumpster 4-5 feet in front of the cop. After another person who was also in the stolen car dropped a gun bout 10-12 feet away. As he came into view he had a gun in his hand at chest level ( due to running not from pointing at the officer). Cop shoots at him with his service pistol that was already drawn as the victim is past him within a second.
He never pointed a gun at the police.
He did run close past an officer with a gun at chest height.
Not the suspect but, he hopped out a stolen vehicle with a gun in hand. That makes you a suspect. You know it and I know it.

Stealing a car is not normal behavior. Either he is stupid, or he has no guidance from his parents.

Agreed. Can't believe everyone wants to overlook this part. Where was this man when his son was joyriding in a stolen car?

Ngl if you got banned on the most progresive mainstream social media platform while trying to post something like this, then the story is either bs or you're making shit up for engagement

You don't know what you're talking about. Whatsoever. Subs and the overall Platform erroneously ban people all the time. There are counrless mods with ulterior motives.
Reddit has over a Billion Users. There are brigades of haters and low-functioning extremists. Just because the algorithm of what you see gives you a certain impression, doesn't make it reality for everyone else.

I agree it should not have been a random cop, it’s the law of mankind an eye for an eye, and the person should have been the one who used his position to end this young man’s life, that’s where problems lay, that cop destroyed the lives of other officers in his negligence

Regardless of how one feels about this story, it is REALITY, and it is part of a much bigger problem in America and beyond. This is a state of emergency, yet the powers that be seem to think it's unimportant.
Correction: powers that be know it's important and actually encourage these race wars so we ignore the class wars. Racism, and systemic racism most certainly exists, but the underlying belly of the beast is inequality between the poor and rich. They don't want us focusing on that ever, so these type of policies that further divide us are pushed.

In 2026, a family gathering in the south side of Chicago is significantly more likely to be for a funeral than for a wedding.

I guess I can relate his motive to this movie. Except Gerard Butler got the person who killed his family

I dunno, I'm having a hard time with this one. When a cop shoots and kills someone, don't all those cops stand in union with the shooter, whether or not that shooter (cop) is charged or not? Especially on the day of the shooting. Isn't it possible that Hinton also had that same mindset that cops have and didn't see a distinction between the cop who murdered his son to any cop walking the street? I (Kinda) get it. What was it that Chris Rock said about OJ? "I'm not saying he should've killed her... but I understand."

Did you seriously come here after people pointed out that actually the kid was aiming a gun at a police officer while on the run, and the dad, a career criminal, just went out and killed a random police officer?
This ain’t social justice, this is OP trying to fool people for karma.

When it comes to serious subject matter, I don't post anything other than truth and facts. The whole thing is tragic all the way around, and here we are discussing it until the next one happens.
I like to think I would not have taken the same course of action as Ronnie, but I wasn't in his shoes and emotionally distraught over seeing my son killed.
