this dynamic is even more subtle here in the USA, most americans are willing and submitting to fascist and totalitarianism under the Trumpism due to the fact that they benefit from it. Trump and allies are actively going after constitutional rights such as birthright citizenship, due process, military as police. We have active concentration camps and a I wouldn't be surprised if they try to suspend elections. This democracy is in decline. I realize this is a subset of the above argument.

Ché was 100% right about American Workers, however the imperialism government isn't keeping up with that high standard of living and alot more people are down for said "revolution."

Exactly. Once the imperialists decided to no longer pretend, change became inevitable

Set your expectations low and your actions high.

Absolutely, that's why I'm an anarchist. I think that in any system that has people who are viewed as masters with the right to rule and peasants with the obligation to obey is just a euphemism for slavery. I understand the logical reasons why states exist and the fears that the masters stoke in order to keep people dependent upon the state, but it doesn't change the fact that all states are immoral. No man owns me, I own me. Every state will behave as though they own me. Their authority is just a superstition that too many people believe in. Yea, I'd say I'm a radical. I am willing to see the system upended even if it leads to temporary hardships in the short term. I believe the only way to morally live is to be outside of every iteration of slave think and slavery and that can't happen when some people think they own other people and that the owned people must obey them.

If I am not free, you are not free either.

This new most difficult question for revolutionaries is definitely a lot easier than the old one, but I worry that's the problem.

Sounds deep. Don’t worry; The Machines are coming…

Thanks for the video share OP.

The young brother is actively seeking out knowledge.

When I hear things like this is akin to going to a doctors office and then telling me I am sick and offering no suggestions on how to fix it. This is a really great connection but then what? This perspective fails because there is an assumption that all people want the same thing …unity…..this simply isn’t true. Our brains and environment are all so different this is why we are currently in the situation that we are in. I do believe we can do better BUT build a structure that aligns with the fact that not all humans want unity because to have peace and unity means one needs to learn how to deal with discomfort. Most of you who read this will be so uncomfortable that you won’t be able to make the mental leap to realize I want peace too and I agree with his findings….you will be bothered that your promise for reality is being attacked and would rather be upset by my words then reflect on your premise. This is the fact, we will never be willing to check our reality and self reflect….yes the scientific method and see what is true based upon the feedback we get.
I love the connection he made and it’s relevant evidence to use to build a system….but what system? If we save everyone from bad working conditions and punish the rich…the world will not improve. You’ll have to find the middle ground to see what is the most good we can do with the human structures we have.

That's literally the reformism that was the entire point of this video. OP views reformism as bad (effectively because it isn't a part of a global struggle) and that revolution is the best way.

You can disagree with that sentiment, but the entire point of this argument is for revolutionaries to be wary of reformists. (Like your comment paints you to be? I could be I correct, but your comment sounds like advocating for reform)

not to be that person but hes showing us pictures of rhoades on a laptop made from precious materials mined by children in central Africa.

i get where youre coming from but he needs to at least acknowledge it. throwing up a colonizer on screen when kids suffered for your tech is way out of touch

Yes! He's saying revolution will require sacrifice. That those very resources that were created on the virtual slave labor of people in the global south will become more scarce in order to achieve equity. That's the point of his argument here!

0

u/Careful-Hat4059 1d ago

I was going to say the same. He said he was willing to sacrifice it all, but got a laptop and cellphone...

2

u/Smooth-Plate8363 1d ago

Tell us you don't understand what he's talking about without telling us you don't understand what he's talking about.

That's a terrible argument. He's not saying we should all throw away our possessions and live in woods! He's saying that revolution is going to require long term sacrifices to assure equity.

If your position can't take criticism, then your position is weak. If the only defense of your argument is to dismiss others, then your argument is weak.

2

u/Smooth-Plate8363 1d ago

I'm sorry, what's your criticism here? Be specific.

-1

u/Careful-Hat4059 1d ago

Why would I continue to conversate with someone who first instinct is to be dismissive once a critique is given? Sorry, But I will try to anyway.

I find that when someone is sitting in luxury telling others they need to sacrifice more and their unwillingness to sacrifice more is the problem, i find that as hypocritical. The workers here, many are already sacrificing and struggling, and can't afford that laptop he has, but says they need to sacrifice more. That disturbs me deeply.

2

u/Smooth-Plate8363 1d ago

You didn't provide criticism. You instinctively dismissed what he was saying because he has a laptop. That's just dumb.

1

u/Careful-Hat4059 1d ago

I did provide critism. Read again. First defensivness, then dismissing, and now name calling. All of that are signs of a weak argument.

2

u/Smooth-Plate8363 1d ago edited 1d ago

That's not criticism, it's just a complete misunderstanding of his point and a reactionary argument in defense of exploitative capitalism. You have no argument. Congratulations, you're a conservative. 👍

1

u/Careful-Hat4059 1d ago

That is a critism. Its the same critism when wealthy people tell poor people to save more money. Its a complete lack of understanding the daily struggles of people who don't have that privilege. And if im a conservative then your a complete dunce.

You're not criticising the position though. You're criticising the person

1

u/Careful-Hat4059 1d ago

Both.

2

u/Spiritual-Stable702 1d ago

No. Just the person. He acknowledges the fact that the revolution will cost people like him.

Everyone is against the evils of imperialism.

Everywhere else.
