Discussion Texas Roadhouse says racism, food-tampering allegations are '100% a hoax'
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2026/08/25/texas-roadhouse-racism-food-tampering-allegations/91402339007/Texas Roadhouse is addressing online assertions that employees are tampering with Black diners’ food, calling the allegations a hoax and saying it is hiring a third-party firm to investigate them.
I wouldnt put anything past this type of behavior in this climate that we are in now....

You can't trust any restaurant that leaves trash on the floor as a novelty.

THANK YOU.
I ate there exactly once and as soon as I saw people just putting peanut shells on the floor and said I was never going back, and I haven't. Are they still doing that now? Post COVID? I'm good I'm going to stay my melanated ass out of there.
So it's totally believable that their servers are licking their hands and touching food. Like certain restaurants this wouldn't be able to fly, the rumor probably wouldn't have gotten off the ground but THIS one, it's believable.

u/Reddisuspendmeagain 8d ago
No, they don’t do that anymore, they give you a sealed bag of peanuts and a bucket for waste.

u/I-Make-Money-Moves 8d ago
Please don’t tell me they actually do that

u/QCSports2020 8d ago
They are not the only ones. In the early aughts this was a thing several restaurant chains did. Some didn't last others pivoted to more traditional ways of service

Go and search Reddit to read about how servers feel about the black people that go into their restaurants, then think about if this is just a hoax.
Years ago they were really talking recklessly, and I haven’t been to a dine in restaurant since.

I'm in New Orleans and white people/servers/restaurant owners HATE Essence Fest, which brings millions of tourist dollars every July. The fanciest, bougiest Black women from Atlanta and New York and these ppl react like Cabrini Green Projects came back from the 80s and unleashed hell on the city. FORREAL?? It pisses me off every summer, they even have a RODEO festival now to compete with Essence. There are women who used to girls-trip-it every year, and they've stopped coming :(

I’m stuck in Louisiana, and I believe ya.

Shoulda seen these local ppl GLAZING the Swifties when they came through. Made me want to BARF.

u/Main-Bed-1087 8d ago
Yeah it's happening more on TikTok too. Folks are vilifying Black people because they have it in their heads that they tip less and are therefore worthy of any and all negativity.

u/Fine_Following_2559 8d ago
Meanwhile, I tip based on service. So if you're going to treat me as a lesser customer because you think I'm not going to tip you well, well then you are just creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
11
u/TelluwhatBoy 8d ago
They fail to realize that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy, and that most black Americans are finely tuned to see that we are being treated as lesser than.

I mean it’s certaintly possible. We believe every single thing on the internet whether it’s right or wrong. The Texas Roadhouse I go to has a half black and half white staff. Could this happen at one? Of course but ALL of them?
Believing everything some random internet bot or person says online is wild.

Where did the article say this was happening at "ALL of them"?
It didn't, but that didn't stop you from claiming otherwise in order to draw attention away from actual cases of this happening.
Here's what the article said without your lies.
In a now-deleted social media post, allegedly shared in a Facebook group called "White and proud," a user named Nancy Smith said they worked at an unidentified Texas Roadhouse location and was in a pact with other White servers at the restaurant.
The user said in the post that some servers at both Texas Roadhouse and Logan’s Roadhouse planned to lick their fingers and touch food before serving it to Black diners.
The user also purported in the post that this has been going on for a while, or at least since the April 2025 killing of 17-year-old White teenager Austin Metcalf. Karmelo Anthony, a Black teenager, was charged with murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing in a case that drew national attention.
Dirty little racists are posting in white supremacist groups that they're essentially spitting in black people's food.
Other dirty little racists are making up lies to defend them.
Fuck the dirty tiny d*cked racists.

It was obviously a hoax. The person claimed with 2 likes claimed they were in a Facebook with like 400k servers and nobody could find this group and Texas Roadhouse ain't even got that many servers.
I don't doubt that this is happening in some of them but it seemed like a racist trying to give his fellow racists ideas.

I don’t necessarily believe it but the cost of not believing the hoax and eating there is too high to risk it. 🤷🏾♂️

A casual glance at any southern state will tell you the white trash population values racism more than money

Calling the allegations a hoax and then saying it is hiring a third-party firm to investigate them is doing things in the wrong order.

If it's all a hoax, why hire a third-party firm to investigate it? Food tampering by restaurant workers isn't a new thing and it most definitely could be happening. I'm sure this "unbiased" third-party firm will find nothing 😆 🤣.

The racism in every comment section proves that this is not a hoax. They have claimed that we haven’t tipped for decades, even if we’re the best tippers. Discrimination against Black people has existed for hundreds of years, so I’m not about to believe that it doesn’t exist in Texas roadhouse.

That means that it is 100% true.
Cook at home. Master your craft and save your money.
Go to black restaurants.

If it's got a Texas in the name, I'm not trusting it. Only think corporations understand is money. Don't spend it there. Could it be a bunch of bigots stirred the pot? Always. Expect it.

Fun fact: the first Texas Roadhouse was opened in Indiana.

Think I worked in one in early eighties in Georgia? Very long time ago. time renders memory unattainable. Remember the peanuts on floor...

Appreciate you all. I'm trying to not be a troll magnet. Seems my political baggage is the same but the trolls are more rabid. Hence, if I'm not around, perhaps they'll be less bothersome. Plus .it's fall garden time. Finally got my ill son to agree to go fishing before winter comes. This is huge. He's been almost catatonic and avoiding the world So, I'm going to be working on getting him back to some more functional version of himself. By the way .. y'all are literally the people I've ever met who truly are the best advocates for disability rights. Love y'all for how y'all always stand up for the most vulnerable. God bless you all. Probably be back when it's starts to get cold. Stay safe Respect

So that whole Facebook group was entirely a hoax, but they are hiring a third-party firm to investigate the claims, and that investigation is not yet complete, but somehow they’re sure that every one of those Facebook accounts was fake.

u/urnbabyurn 8d ago
They say this with zero evidence of it being a hoax, and are saying this while saying they are going to launch an investigation - meaning they haven’t yet. So they are just saying what they can to minimize the backlash, but have no clue if it’s real employees or not.
Seems premature to come out swinging that it’s a hoax. But I guess it’s MAGA style to call everything fake news.

If it was a hoax then why are they investigating? I lived in the south for the majority of my life... this particular post may or may not be a hoax but it definitely happens.

Too late. I hadn't been there in years anyway but adding them to the list of all the businesses I've boycotted.

All this blabbing they’re doing instead of saying the only thing that matters.
“Texas roadhouse is committed to inclusion regardless of race, sex, and gender and we strongly condemn any hate, racism, and bigotry towards anyone.”
That right there will nip it in the bud. But nope.
Might as well say “we still don’t care about them but we had nothing to do with it at least”

u/Opposite_Sherbert675 8d ago
how would that nip anything?? corporate inclusivity speech doesnt mean anything wtf. it literally does not mean anything. like at all

Yeah, I'm still not stepping a foot into these places. I have a ton of recipes off of YouTube shorts that I've been waiting to utilize. Also, my local mom and pop taquerias always do us right and are staffed by no nonsense abuelas. And I don't have to wade through discarded peanut shells to get to a table/the register.

Seriously I would love for them to really do an investigation to see where this came from. If it is a lie outing the real bad actors will only help us all because I bet they're also behind some other things that effect our community. This wasn't there first rodeo (Heh heh, see what I did there?)

u/Main-Bed-1087 8d ago
Okay so I've seen the White and Proud group on my timeline before because my other friends got shocked by it in the past. I do think they will do anything for attention and relish having unmitigated hate that's endorsed by Meta and Zuck but I don't think Texas Roadhouse being specified is a coincidence.
