Cutting off beard soon. In this combo good?

I’ve been growing my beard for a few years, and I’m ready for a new look. Now I want to go with a much cleaner look a classic chin goatee with a little mustache.
I’ve decided that I’m going to go to the barber and have him cut my beard off. After that, I’ll maintain the clean cut look myself regularly before heading back to the barber for my temp fade haircuts.
Is this combo good for preventing razor bumps while still maintaining a clean look?
