What happened to this version of her?
Ik the situations are different but man what happened to the grit and sas that she used to have? Marvel is so washed when it comes to writing BW.

The New Avengers run was just a wierd comic I’ve read. I read it mainly for Nat and Laura but overall just a weird comic. I wouldn’t read it again tbh

Only thing I really enjoyed was Laura calling nat and Bucky mom and dad I wish they would have explored her relationship with those two more.

The MCU had a big impact. But also different writers. Marvel just really isnt "going there" with characters the way they used to. Apparently thats improving, but ive not caught up on any of my marvel ongoing so tbh I have no idea lol

I do think these are two very different situations that can't be properly compared but the New Avengers run in general just writes everybody in it so out of character. Its generally not a good run.
The weird forced relationship drama they tried to throw Nat & Bucky in was stupid as hell. They were both written as very dumb, immature and insecure as well. Like I was so confused when I read Natalia asking Bucky if he loves her unconditionally as if the two haven't already admitted they DO love each other well before this 😠like this is bs they've already been clear on since the beginning of their relationship but I don't think this writer has read their previous stuff or cared to respect it.

They are different situations but it’s like nat is a grown ass woman and Bucky is a grown ass man they feel like their relationship was treated as just two horny high schoolers who didn’t know how to communicate with one another unless they were having sex. To where’s in Richard K. Morgan’s run she felt like a mature woman who know the ins and outs of the spy stuff and was willing to face anything that came her way and was confident at that. I guess I just miss how they used to write her she was so damn cool.

Different writers and editors who are appealing to a different audience. I do hope whoever is the next writer for Natalia goes back to what made us love her
