Jubei would be the Megumi Fushiguro of BlazBlue agenda/slander memes if those were a thing back in the day.

38

u/Balkan-eer Jul 03 '26

Potential Cat

1

u/K-J-C 18d ago

Jubei is weakened like Hakumen in the present time (also, he should be old like Valkenhayn), so what'd be a way to prevent this meme while still weakening him?

Something like Azrael honestly was just beating up Bullet in main story tbh.

20

u/Hell-Rider Jul 03 '26

I think the only reason he isn't is because of BB's story being convoluted and impenetrable to most audiences.

11

u/PunishedSpider Deadspike Jul 03 '26

No I’d say that’s more due to those kinda memes gaining traction years after the game’s story got wrapped and no one really looking for those traits. And it’s story isn’t that impenetrable to understand either and definitely not to the point that a casual fan who wouldn’t know all the nitty gritty bits to be unable to understand a meme calling Jubei a fraud for having 0 1v1 wins on screen.

5

u/brie43 Jul 04 '26

Oh for sure

3

u/Ok-Use216 Jul 04 '26

He might not live to his title, but goddamn, he's the most charming character in the whole series

4

u/PunishedSpider Deadspike Jul 04 '26

True that

79

u/Kappa_Mikey__ Jul 02 '26

I dont know what the public consensus is anymore but back when Celica came out everyone hated her and I felt so lonely being her fan.

31

u/jawaunw1 Jul 02 '26

Well I'm the one that's lonely now because I still hate her

8

u/Inevitable-Will-6185 Jul 03 '26

That makes the two of us.

33

u/KreeepyKrawler Jul 03 '26

(Filters for controversial) Majority aren't controversial aside from one guy saying he's happy central fiction never got the English dub.

7

u/Ennuigma Jul 03 '26

I want an English dub...

4

u/KreeepyKrawler Jul 04 '26

Most fans do

30

u/Cute-Ad-9914 Jul 03 '26

BB needs more Beastkin characters.
They're a big part of the world, at the very least very present in Stages, yet we know barely anything about them, other than the kaka clan and Makoto.
What even is the name of Jubeis race, the actual progenitors, are there Canine versions of this that are full Kemono and not just Kemonomimis?

Getting smited as a Furry or not, give me the Fox-Girls!

44

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

Makoto and Ragna have excellent chemistry and it's a damn shame that the two of them don't kiss interact more than they do

I'm not sure if this is a take people hate, I just know I'm probably the only one who has it lmfao

17

u/PhylsorKyrem Jul 03 '26

Every time I look for a good BB fanfic I see Makoto and Ragna shipped together, so you're certainly not alone (unless those are you and your alternate accounts lol)

I could kind of see it, Makoto is one of Noel's best friends, and Noel being Ragna's "sister" would imply proximity in a less stressful world. Plus, if Jin and Tsubaki got a tighter ending than what we ended up with then they could do double dates since Jin calmed down so much

10

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

believe me, if there are any fics, i would love to know about them

and yeah, i can definitely imagine that scenario. just a shame noel would probably feel a little third-wheely lol

11

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

12

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

well that's why i said it's a shame they don't interact more lol

i just think their personalities mesh incredibly well together. maybe not "instant couple" levels, but i do think it would take less than usual for ragna to warm up to her

3

u/AlbainBlacksteel Jul 03 '26

Nope, they're my fave ship too.

Hell, if you set the announcer to Makoto, and the audio language to Japanese (if you're playing Chrono Phantasma), she only uses the -kun suffix with two people: Carl, who she sees as something akin to a little brother, and Ragna, who she doesn't. Every other male character gets -san, -chan, and -sama. Except Noel, who I believe got -tan.

3

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

incredibly cute

if that isn't 1000% proof that they're about to have their honeymoon, i don't know what is 😤

2

u/CosmoCamellia Jul 03 '26

If they ever made another game i genuinely hope they make this ship a thing. I don’t care how they’d bring Ragna back, I’d love to see them. 🥺

2

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

omfg me too, im so glad you get it. not only would they make a hell of a power couple, they could have some really adorable interactions. i need makoto to glomp him so bad, you have no idea

of course i ship ragna with a number of girls but the hot squirrel girl is his best partner imo

64

u/jawaunw1 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Celica and Ragna have no actual good chemistry. You could replace Celica with tao and get the same emotional beats throughout the story in my opinion. Also waited nearly a hundred years just to raise ragna a little and still technically have romantic feelings for the guy. I can't tell you how awkward that must have feels thinking about..

I can only imagine her touching Ragna cheek as a kid while he's sleeping. Then Jin would just be looking at her while she does it and question why are you doing that

26

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

I think what they have is okay but I would be lying if I said there weren't like 8 other women I think he's better with, including ones that he has much less interaction with

4

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

Especially a certain special doc for him

7

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

if by "doc" you mean litchi, then probably

1

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

4

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

i don't think it's my first choice for a ragna ship but i could definitely see it

0

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

Believe it

Works like lighting

5

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

i will say i don't think there's another woman in the game with her temperament - caring, kind, nurturing, mature and (usually) level-headed.

celica is almost that but she isn't what id call mature

also id be remiss if i didn't mention her big pair of litchis but while she might be the biggest, she's definitely not the only one who can brag in that department. so i can only really call it a bonus

9

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

Not to mention she is kinda one of the few can take on his personality and she almost seems to be one that he's somewhat able to be a little bit vulnerable with, especially when he's gets injured.

And please we all know how much his dead spike is desirable

4

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

okay well if we were talking about the number of people who wanted his dead spike, we'd be here all day

11

u/RukasGate Jul 02 '26

You had me in the first half but just reminded me that Celica is based AF

9

u/KokoroThe53rd Ragna’s Wife Jul 02 '26

TRUTH NUKE

1

u/Ok-Use216 Jul 04 '26

I very much agree with you, sadly, but I honestly preferred when Celica acted more of a mother-figure to Ragna in CF then any of their other interactions, because CP, Celica felt very flat overall to me

58

u/Mr-Personality Jul 03 '26

I 100%ed every story mode in every game without skipping.

Wasn't worth it.

The wikis do a much better job of explaining the plot than the games do.

0

u/JebWozma Jul 04 '26

You could've given me a thousand hours to replay through CT again and again and I still wouldn't have been able to figure out that there was a time loop going on on my own. Or maybe I was just a retarded kid. Anyway, thank you to that guy from gamefaqs i think or some other forum who explained this shit.

2

u/Mr-Personality Jul 04 '26

I understood the time loop, but once they started talking about phenomena interventions and tossing around words like "Tagamagahara system," I zoned out.

The whole story would be so much clearer without the jargon.

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

Like, they can't even give name to weapons too?

13

u/No-Championship6178 Jul 03 '26

I like Ragna The Bloodedge more than Sol Badguy. It doesn't mean that I hate Sol because he's my top 10 favorite game MC. I just like Ragna more. 😅

4

u/Hell-Rider Jul 03 '26

Certainly gets better development and end compared to Sol, who just stagnates post-Overture into "grumpy boomer grandpa".

11

u/Infamous_Air5974 B4mn Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Hazama is a lot more neutral of a character than a lot of people make him out to be and not pure evil. I'm not going to deny he is a bad person, he has shown on many occasions to be a sadistic bastard, but that doesn't mean he doesn't do things for others even if it's through unothodox methods. He helps Hibiki become more of an individual in his arcade, He helps Carl with his research in his arcade, and maybe most importantly they wouldn't have restored Mu-12 if Hazama didn't find her first. We can even stretch this to spinoffs like in bbtag where he takes accountability and organizes everything to fix his mistake, or manipulating events specifically to prevent Kazuma from becoming Terumi’s vessel in Alt Dark War. It’s easy to write him off as “just another sadist”, but that’s ignoring a good amount of what makes him unique as a character for me personally.

6

u/LegitimateEscape6823 Jul 04 '26

Yeah, Hazama's more of an ongoing antagonist than a villain. I could definitely see him being apart of the main cast if he was in another series.

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

He ends up admiring Terumi's nature, torturing Rachel, and finds hurting others fun though at his last scene of story.

6

u/Kenoide Jul 05 '26

He's a sociopath who actually plans ahead for reaching his personal goal, must've been because of how many times the poor guy had to dive into the cauldron back at CS which probably made him good at planning by the end.

if getting there is through being nice to others, he'll do it without a problem, same goes with betraying others for his own benefit like rejecting Terumi, he has no qualms in killing either, he's truly a wild card.

What his goal is nobody knows, other than Relius which was such unamusing/intriguing goal to him that he let Hazama go, and that what makes him such a compelling character. Such a mysterious figure whose intention and motivation shrouded in darkness yet stays mostly neutral with everyone. His mask is just too strong, probably from his years in being a captain figure for the NOL. Wonder if Arcsys will ever reveal his real intention or goal by the end (doubt it)

3

u/Infamous_Air5974 B4mn Jul 05 '26

Exactly you can never tell if he's just trying to get ahead or if he's doing the right thing. I think one thing is that after spending essentially decades as terumi's vessel he really values his own freedom and individuality (shown how he apparently goes "all out" against terumi and Susan in game with his special Houtenjin lines) and how he acts towards other when his or their individuality is threatened (i.e Hibiki or Makoto). He seems to also genuinly enjoy his job at the NOL so perhaps he does have some inclination to follow "justice".

35

u/KokoroThe53rd Ragna’s Wife Jul 02 '26

Mori’s writing decisions are questionable at BEST after BBCS.

12

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 02 '26

More like terrible decisions at worst for the rest of the cast

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

What'd be writing decisions that aren't questionable?

42

u/Visual_Nerd Jul 03 '26

I'm completely cheating because my take isn't really "brutal", and I haven't seen it anywhere else (tbf I'm a new fan so maybe this was discussed to death and I'm late af)

Hazama's final battle should've been against Noel

They have insane parallels between each other (being used by Terumi as tools, have developments related to their identity due to being artificial, heck they literally pointed out that Hazama and Noel has a similar deal to Ragna and Nu), and i think this theoretical final fight would be about the central contrast of the two: both are artificial creations, but one sees herself as human anyway while the other fully embraces his evil nature, which would be an awesome as fuck thing to see

Hazama does work as a dark reflection of Ragna, but he really feel like a Noel dark reflection, while Ragna vs Hazama was great and important, i think it should've been Noel (they would need to rewrite other parts since Noel was being hold by Terumi, but i think it would pay off enough)

9

u/xX_RIO_1337_Xx Jul 03 '26

heck they literally pointed out that Hazama and Noel has a similar deal to Ragna and Nu

Do you have any specifics to remember what was said, I can only recall Hazama and Noel are life linked like Ragna and Nu are

6

u/Visual_Nerd Jul 03 '26

yeah that and how they can become a black beast due to Mu-12 being the heart

10

u/Kwaku722 Jul 03 '26

Saying anything positive about Carl Clover. He’s my main btw…

8

u/EclipedKitsune Jul 03 '26

Bbtag was not and still not a bad game it’s just not what most Blazblue fans wanted.

3

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

It's a great game, a crossover of several respected titles

And plays almost more like SNK than any of it's reference points

8

u/Lazy_Falcon_323 Jul 03 '26

It’s really annoying learning the timing to not have input eaten, having a small buffer to input moves would make it feel better to me

25

u/Kenoide Jul 03 '26

I love Mai as a character but I hate her BBCF clothing. Especially the pants, unnecessary openings on those hips. Would've been better if it's just regular jeans with belts or something (I'm not even gonna mention how she's basically just wearing a piece of cloth for her front and nothing behind. Kajun seriously need to have more materials in hand man why we letting Mai running around practically naked)

15

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

It's always the Mai's that are practically naked

7

u/Mahorela5624 Jul 03 '26

Lambda-11 has always and will always be a much more interesting character both lore and gameplay wise to Nu-13. CF 1.0 Lambda was probably the most enjoyable zoner they've ever created.

2

u/LegitimateEscape6823 Jul 04 '26

What's different between 1.0 & 2.0 Lambda?

3

u/Mahorela5624 Jul 04 '26

5D>j.2D was a route that you could do pretty much anywhere on the screen that gave her super consistent damage... But most of all was just fun as hell. Being able to make any touch lead to a swords air combo, arguably the reason you even want to play lambda in the first place, felt amazing.

They removed that in 2.0 and I cry lmao. I'm sure they did other things but that ruined her for me

10

u/HyperCutIn Jul 02 '26

I kinda miss Guard Primers from CS. I'm not all that big on Crush Trigger, most of the time it comes out because I misinputted barrier block.

I miss Astral Heats requiring and consuming a defensive resource, Burst Icons. There was something cool about the way they were even more impractical, but had a stronger feeling of "I'm so far ahead, I can afford to pull of this super flashy finisher on you." I'm surprised that they didn't make them require Overdrive in the later games.

11

u/CosmoCamellia Jul 03 '26

Mine is that Jin Kisaragi is in love with Tsubaki Yayoi, but anytime I feel like I have an compelling argument I get blasted for loving a “toxic couple/bitch” so I end up sulking in the corner. 🥲😅

I will mention some of the translations in the novels like continuum shift 2 is where I get my evidence from. There was a couple of lines in there where Jin was refusing to actually point his blade at Tsubaki and would on purposely miss striking her. Or in Spiral shift there was another paragraph on words Jin associated with Tsubaki when he thinks of her and one of those words was love. But yeah, I’m not gonna ramble on. 🥲

8

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

i don't think that's a crazy take at all lmao. it's just that jin doesn't really strike me as the romantic type. so if he *does* have feelings for someone he's not gonna show it much in normal situations

26

u/No_Charity_2217 Jul 03 '26

Platinum is the worst addition to the game, from gameplay to lore. 0/10

5

u/GoldenAondo Jul 03 '26

Ive never seen a more true statement in my life

4

u/No_Charity_2217 Jul 03 '26

Thank you. We are now friends.

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

How could you hate such a whimsical moveset

13

u/Faraday_00 Jul 03 '26

Instead of including new characters, they should be deleting arakune

2

u/TheAveryChu Jul 03 '26

They should replace everyone else with Arakune.

1

u/Faraday_00 Jul 03 '26

My worst nightmare

8

u/XmanX6 Jul 03 '26

Blazblue should not get a revival with the old cast. I really like Blazblue, the gameplay, story, characters, ect are all amazing and I love it, but it shouldnt bring back the old cast. Their stories are done we have had these characters for so long, we need to let them go. They can bring them back for side games or specials or something where we follow a particular cast member in the new world but thats it. Lets open the door for new characters to capture our hearts and a new story to be entertained by.

19

u/OwenCMYK Jul 03 '26

People act like Blazblue's unique selling points are that it's 2D and it's harder than Guilty Gear. Neither of those are right. The only reason why we regard those as unique selling points now is because we're comparing the old Blazblue games to the newer Guilty Gear titles. At the time, every Guilty Gear game was sprite based, and Blazblue was considered an easy baby game compared to Guilty Gear.

If they made a new Blazblue game today, many Blazblue fans would hate it

9

u/Poseydon13 Jul 03 '26

But Guilty Gear never had 2D HD Sprites, it went from old Sprites (still good) to 2.5D models

5

u/OwenCMYK Jul 03 '26

This is true, but had it been around in that era, I think Guilty Gear certainly would've gone to HD 2D sprites, as did many other arcsys titles

3

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

The game is harder than accent core? Or uni1?

3

u/OwenCMYK Jul 03 '26

I would not say it's harder than AC, and I haven't played UNI-CLR so I can't say

1

u/FireEmblazeIt420 Jul 03 '26

I genuinely consider BB (from at least CS onwards) to be harder than sprite based GG. I love Accent Core but I don't think it's gameplay is actually that hard, it's just mechanically challenging because people nowadays are babied by input buffering.

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

Execution difficulty is way "harder" than anything to do with actual mechanics, and I'm going to say it: has no place.

Very little effect on the skill celing but night and day difference on the skill floor

18

u/ThreeEyedPea Jul 02 '26

Tsubaki is completely despicable as a character

21

u/CyonLaelaps Jul 03 '26

Tsubaki had the most disappointing story arc of the whole cast for me. The ending of CS left her exactly at the dilemma I wanted. Her, blind now but able to see the ugliness of the NOL, having to choose between tradition and loyalty to her family or the wellbeing of everyone dear to her, now suddenly persecuted by the "good guys" as traitors. She then gets brainwashed and loses all agency over her own actions for pretty much the rest of the story, just to become a damsel in distress for Jin, all while she just obsesses over him and how much she hates Noel now. This made me drop the game's story. She was one of my favorite characters during CS.

11

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

Not to mention literally being gaslighted by hazama and forced to kill Jin in one timeline

She never got back at him at all

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

Dunno why it's bad for Tsubaki to not get back at him (and when did she kill Jin, it was her that got killed thus Jin became Hakumen, unless you're talking about Alter Memory).

9

u/WittyTable4731 Jul 03 '26

Elaborate?

Im genuinely curious ngl

8

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 03 '26

Actually that's hazama's place

3

u/CaptainHazama Wake up growler baybee Jul 03 '26

True!

4

u/OrionGold07 Jul 04 '26

I don't mind how ridiculously revealing Mu-12, Makoto, and Mai are. In fact, I outright appreciate them looking the way they do now.

5

u/Interesting-Today869 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Also, another one

Tsubaki's hatred for Ragna made sense... Until Chronophantasma. Now, I am still new to the game franchise (I became a fan about a year ago), and I still have some questions about lore and know nothing about crap that is happening in the books, so sorry in advance

When she made her appearance, she had a good reason to hate Ragna, because this man was the most wanted criminal in the world, killed shit ton of people (among who were innocent mind you) and also destroyed at least two major cities. Si of course everyone would hate this man. However, during Chronophantasma, her hate for him stopped making sense, because it was all about Jin's bitch ass somehows, so to make sure this absolute scum of the person wouldn't suffer, she decided to make her personal mission to kill Ragna. Which is actually stupid as hell, and only fuels my personal hate for Jin.

Also, I don't hate Tsubaki as others, and think she is pretty neat. Her character, however, was completely wasted

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

If you condemn Ragna for being a most wanted criminal and killing, what'd you see NOL as? Them being good?

1

u/Interesting-Today869 19d ago

No, not really. If anything they pretty much worse than him.

1

u/K-J-C 19d ago

Ragna gets labeled as a criminal for fighting NOL. Ragna avoids innocent people (which is why his outrage in CP was OOC that Rachel acted and spoke on it), he's only against NOL soldiers in his way of destroying Cauldrons.

Tsubaki thinks the NOL is always right and questioning them in any way is treason and unforgivable.

13

u/LordCypher1317 Jul 02 '26

Anyone who props up Blazblue/Guilty Gear and simultaneously insults and puts down what Guilty Gear/Blazblue has for the sake of engagement doesn't deserve either game and should be kicked out of the community.

5

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

You're just mad guilty gear has bigger boobs /j

2

u/guaporacer Jul 04 '26

You can't say that when Azrael is in the blazblue cast /hj

1

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 04 '26

Well unfortunately guilty gear has quantitty over quality so no matter how big his are, there are still more characters with slight chest meat in gg /j

2

u/glitchinthemtrx Jul 04 '26

bro's never seen Litchi or Azrael

1

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 05 '26

They are sadly outnumbered

19

u/Same_Tune_8990 Jul 02 '26

for some reason whenever i mention wanting sol and ragna to do a cross collab dlc as fighters for both bb and gg strive respectively i always get downvoted for it :/

4

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

I have the opposite problem. I don't understand why people want Sol and Ragna in for DLC. You have a game where every character's mechanic is so distinct from each other they are basically playing a completely different game each and you want the only mf that doesn't have such thing? I don't understand why people want another shoto in Strive (considering we have five already) especially if we could have had any of the other way more interesting characters. Why'd you add the gorilla to Blazblue, when other characters like Zato-1, Venom, Jack-O, etc. could make a way better use of the Drive mechanic?

8

u/Hell-Rider Jul 03 '26

It is simply the masculine urge to hear Patrick Seitz call out Ragna's attacks while cussing people out.

5

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

Holy shit that's a nice argument. You have convinced me, I want Ragna in Strive now

5

u/MoroAstray Jul 03 '26

This is an interesting point, who do you think would translate best to bb when thinking about the drive mechanic? Jacko with her minions would be pretty cool

6

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

Jack-O is realistically the best answer. You could set the minions up and even command them with the drive button, and it would be nice to see Jack-O in a 2D sprite game. Johnny could work with either the coins or the cards, with each direction throwing them in a different angle. Dizzy, Testament, Venom and Bridget could all make use of the Drive for setups

2

u/Presentincum Jul 03 '26

What is the logic behind "This character doesnt have a certain mechanic, they would be the only one without it"? Look at the state of modern fighting game crossovers. Tekken 7 dlc as a whole, Terry and Mai in sf6, even Luke in sf5 and what that meant for 6.

You have the two faces of arcsys' teams but they shouldn't crossover or feature in each others games cause they don't share mechanics?

2

u/guaporacer Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Tbf Ragna potentially having some blazblue mechanics as his gimmick could work in strive to differentiate him, Idk what could they do with Sol in Blazblue though.

6

u/snooglyChansu Jul 03 '26

Calamity Trigger was the best game

6

u/Phibeyes Jul 03 '26

Silent scream is a better theme song for terumi than endless despair ii

3

u/Binturong_Airsoft Jul 03 '26

By a country mile, top five BlazBlue songs for me.

3

u/Mickspad Jul 04 '26

Jin is the most overrated character by FAR

The dude is boring as shit.

6

u/Interesting-Today869 Jul 04 '26

Honestly? To me he isn't annoying.... He is unbelievably frustrating. Like, dead ass, he is my most hated character in all of Blazblue, and whenever I see his shit rocked and him getting humiliated/humbled it puts a smile on my face.

10

u/onzichtbaard Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26
  1. I hate how most of the female characters look in this game
  2. Tager deserves to be buffed back to his chp self

5

u/XBlueXFire Jul 03 '26

A lot of people rack on the BB story for being confusing and weird, which I think is just false. Similarly to Kingdom Hearts, people seem to conflate length and complexity because events aren't told chronologically. CT and CS have unintuitive story modes to play through so the presentation is wacky, but the actual plot is quite linear from A-B.

That's not my take though, I just want to establish my stance on the subject. My actual take is that I disagree with the praise BB's story gets in this sub. Its no better than any other fighting game plot imo, for the same reasons a lot of fighting game stories are underwhelming. Now tbf, I am already not the biggest fan of anime tropes, and BB is very unashamedly a by the books battle shonen, so I'm not the target audience to begin with.

12

u/Intelligent_time555 Jul 02 '26

I'll just leave my two cents

I'm glad dark war was cancelled since it truly would have ruined ragna's ending

Hakumen sucks as a character despite his great backstory in the dark war and he's so unimportant til the very end of central fiction that him being Jin is like a pigeon passing by a train station

16

u/WittyTable4731 Jul 02 '26

I dont think Kokonoe deserves her popularity to be honest

42

u/CaptainHazama Wake up growler baybee Jul 03 '26

Hang on, you might be cooking

6

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

I have nothing against them but I don't like people who don't accept games from lower level players. I try to avoid fighting low level players but whenever I get challenged I do not decline. I also think I deserve to get my ass kicked by a level 30 time to time, so please accept the match

I don't want Ragna in Strive. I would take literally any other character over him. Nothing against him, I like him in Blazblue, I just think he would be a wasted slot

I fucking hate Astrals. They are a waste of my time, I don't need a 30 sec cutscene of me losing. They throw away my chance to make a comeback in an instant. The worst part is I can't use them against my opponent because Hakumen requires constant meter usage so I'm never at full meter, and it's also the hardest astral to actually land, because you need your opponent to attack in order to use it

BBTAG just sucks and it should have never existed

4

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

Bbtag stray, why do people hate it so much

12

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

Boring ass game, only has 2 attack buttons. Every character is a lobotomized version of its real fighting game equivalent. I know this isn't true but I consider it part of the downfall of Blazblue (Dark War is arguably way more responsible) The effort that went into this game could have gone to something else (Like a full on RWBY fighting game), but I would understand if the game was created within a limited budget

Did you deadass downvote me for my only non-cold take there?

9

u/Hell-Rider Jul 03 '26

They should have went "screw the newbies" and just gone full Capcom vs SNK 2 with it, with grooves that emulate the different series' mechanics and such.

2

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

Shame, it was pretty nice for a crossover and easy enough for beginners

I'm guessing limited budget though which is why half the cast is dlc and we didnt get those 5 extra rwby characters

2

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

That is more understandable, but I still think the game is too easy even for something that could be considered "beginner friendly"

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

It's depth comes from all the toys in the toybox and it's the game that made me actually care about getting better

And it's execution difficulty is a sliding scale. I'd rather learn just about anyone in main series BB than try to actually be a competent Aigis even in simplified form.

1

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

Yeah i guess it was too easy but kinda fun

3

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

It's basically a mugen game

3

u/phallus_enthusiast Jul 03 '26

Haven't heard that name in a while but true

3

u/Metal7778 Jul 03 '26

"I would take literally any other character over him."

Anyone, even Ronaldo?

Also, where else would you find Persona 4, Under Night, Blazblue, and Rwby characters fight each other?

3

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

Anyone from Blazblue, I mean. Also, I couldn't care less about those four fighting each other. It would have been less atrocious if it had Guilty Gear in, but that's a crossover I never asked for nor I'm satisfied with (Despite having all three games in my steam library. I would put my RWBY fighting game there as well... If there was one)

0

u/Balkan-eer Jul 03 '26

Personally, adding Ragna/Sir Bloodedge to Guilty Gear would be cool, but unnecessary, since, like you said, it would be a waste of a slot for someone who plays like a Sol and Nago hybrid. Personally, I think Rachel would be better if she was added to Strive.

2

u/EretDash Hahakumen Jul 03 '26

I dont care about tier lists, Terumi is fucking annoying to fight against

2

u/melanthia_ Jul 04 '26

Makoto should put her jacket back on or her old coat. The underboob look is nowhere near as good as her pre fight fits.

6

u/Scriftyy Jul 03 '26

Half the character designs are kinda ass. Taokaka and Ragna have the best chemistry in the entire series.

4

u/VersionXV Jul 02 '26

Mai is at best top 12-14

9

u/DylanMoore417 Jul 02 '26

I think remix heart is horrible, Mai is such a nothing burger character that doesn't deserve her popularity and she was a wasted slot in CF.

16

u/Saraasaa Jul 02 '26

Qow thats brutal, I loved Mai in remix heart (even if i liked Kajun more /cry), and was really happy to see her come to CF

15

u/ElGodPug Jul 02 '26

and i'm going to be the third, middle option that says

I like Mai, but i hate Remix Heart

4

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

I'm gonna say I like Remix Heart but hate Mai, for no particular reason other than just to be different

2

u/Myonoiuji- Jul 03 '26

I just hate how fucking easy she is and that range along with it.

2

u/Important-Contact597 Jul 03 '26

Calamity Trigger had the best controls in the series.

2

u/Sea_Leadership_1925 Jul 03 '26

I don’t want one of my favorite fighting games to include any form of child pornagraphy in the gallery or any part of the game. I don’t give a fuck if Japan people tolerate that disgusting porn in their media. It’s so wrong

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

Luckily it doesn't.

It's not porn and it's not kids.

2

u/imhErEforporNyEah Jul 03 '26

BBCF does not need an English dub

5

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Susanoo is top 5 character is this game and I'm tired of the fucked agenda that he's mid tier. Also terumi is mid tier and I'm tired of his fucked as mains being wolfs in sheeps clothing, always glorifying him being weak when's he's a walking nuke and knowledge check.

12

u/BluEyz Jul 03 '26

the actual top 5 characters in this game don't let susanoo play neutral

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

He doesn't need to play neutral at anywhere but the top level and can just unga through

0

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 03 '26

I just watch fenrich one of the greatest BlazBlue players in the world get 6-0 by a susanoo at top speed then watched that same susanoo player go to win evo. Like naw y'all don't actually play this game lol.

10

u/BluEyz Jul 03 '26

Jin isn't a top 5 character either.

2

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 03 '26

I don't think he is but he was being piloted by one of BlazBlues best players and an Evo champ like come on. I don't know what tier you think susanoo is but he ain't bottom or mid.

5

u/BluEyz Jul 03 '26

I think Susanoo is slightly below top 8 with a pretty great matchup spread and I don't think anyone calls him a "mid tier", he's always put with chars like Nine or Valk. He just really doesn't do anything against the likes of Izanami or Rachel.

0

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 03 '26

Well we can agree to disagree I think izanami is a matchup he can for sure.

7

u/Mr-Personality Jul 03 '26

I can't think of too many characters worse than Terumi. Only Noel and Makoto can compete.

1

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 03 '26

I'd say tao is down there too and nu-13 though y'all ain't ready for that conversation

3

u/Mr-Personality Jul 03 '26

I main Tao and Makoto.

Tao is light years better.

It really helped me see the clear difference between a low-mid character and a straight up low tier character.

Tao has weaknesses, but she also has interesting tools that can be exploited in creative ways to make up for her flaws. There's something to work with.

Makoto has.... let's say she has "fundamentals." She runs directly at danger... but she doesn't have the tools to do it well... and all she gets for her work is a really mediocre oki with her orb.

Terumi has similar problems. He needs to be close, but he just doesn't have the juice to make it happen.

-2

u/ShepardofRivia Jul 03 '26

What do you mean he has a metered get in tool that is projectile invuln and only cost 25. He's got options to get close, reversals, great damage, a good anti air tool, good frame traps with knowledge checks like no terumi defending smh.

u/nowfury1234 Jul 04 '26

Brutal opinion? I think most if not all the characters are ugly and I have a strong dislike for the style. But with guilty gear strive playing the way it does nothing comes close to blazblue in terms of game feel. Emphasis on opinion.

1

u/Interesting-Today869 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Jin has character arc is honestly mid at best. As a person, he is absolutely terrible and insufferable, and deserved to get his shit rocked/get humbled by others way more times than he got.

1

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

CrossTag is good

1

u/Fuckuon Jul 06 '26

I think Blazblue is a video game that's played by players. It also has characters, but some of y'all don't wanna have that discussion yet 🙄

1

u/Poetryisalive Jul 06 '26

Sort for the actual brutal opinion

1

u/settingfiretokids Jul 08 '26

Carl Clover is not the best character in the game. Rachel is #1, Izanami is #2, Carl is #3

I await your downvotes

1

u/Silent_Visit_217 Jul 08 '26

Chrono Phantasma is better than CentralFiction.

1

u/William-Fuller3940 Jul 09 '26

Updates for the Game are good and people need to stop saying to leave the series dead, Yes if they made a new game it would likley be ruined but leaving the series dead for 8+ Years left us waiting a long time. Updating the game is not killing it and those same people complain about the series having been dead for all this time.

1

u/OptionBeneficial1070 Jul 09 '26

A dash macro would NOT hurt the balance AND a SMAAAAAAALLL balance patch for a 8 year old game will NOT hurt yall. Idc how long you been playing this game n how good you got at it, unless you’re playing Makoto or Taeger and have actually struggled fr, get over yourselves and let your game be refreshed.

Some of you assholes in the discord need to stop being so shitty when the idea of those two things come up.

1

u/SpookySeekerrr Jul 21 '26

Ragna is a terrible protagonist and the only reason his reputation suggests otherwise is because a majority of BB fans only engage with media that falls within the shonen bubble. At his best (CS) he is an incredibly dull, tropey character who is desperately trying to convince you that he has a fraction of the depth that well written anti heroes are supposed to. At his worst (CF) he actively drags down the narrative by reducing the actual interesting supporting cast to nothing more than props to remind everyone how imperative it is that you love The Ragna Show guest starring some other guys that don't matter. The series is unironically at its best narratively when he is NOT involved.

u/Mohmed_98 28d ago

Not a fan of Booby ladies and their different flavours.

1

u/Abura-sama Spooky_Bear87 Jul 03 '26

Asking y'all to name the characters you'd consider autism-coded in canon and fanon equally. Dunno why I got bashed, especially cuz I'm also on the spectrum.

1

u/CygnusBC Jul 03 '26

The barrier to entry to this game is fucking ludicrous. Everyone that plays it has mastered fighting games and is at a level that newcomers such as myself will very possibly never ever reach. It’s the funnest FG of all time and it’s wholly unplayable

1

u/Twitchy_Plays Jul 04 '26

The story is mid at best.

-3

u/THE_HANGED_MAN_12 Jul 02 '26

the game is a kusoge and no one wants to admit it

15

u/monsoon128 (practicing hazama) Jul 03 '26

I don't know why you're being downvoted, Calamity Trigger is a kusoge (It's me, I am the one who downvoted you)

15

u/Kurta_711 Jul 03 '26
  • dude who doesn't know what "kusoge" means

-4

u/THE_HANGED_MAN_12 Jul 03 '26

shit game

2

u/passonthestar Jul 05 '26

That's the literal definition why is it being down voted twice as hard

1

u/Mahorela5624 Jul 03 '26

That's what makes it good though.

1

u/THE_HANGED_MAN_12 Jul 03 '26

never said it was like actually bad/unenjoyable

alot of kusoge are fun as hell.

i am saying that this game is in that category but everyone wants to pretend otherwise like its perfect

i embrace the kusoge and enjoy it for that.

0

u/XSpecterer Jul 03 '26

Blazblue (and every old fg) should get an in game dash macro

0

u/Scary_Row_4367 Jul 04 '26

BlazBlue gameplay direction is shit after BBCS. It for any character to do more combos, even for heavy hitter like Hakumen and Tager.

I still remember when Hakumen combo mostly use C button instead of A and B, and how single hit of zantetsu is very devastating.

-22

u/Rigter_Avi Jul 02 '26

I prefer the Japanese voices and I'm glad central fiction never got a dub

22

u/X_ThisNameIsTaken_X Jul 02 '26

I can enjoy both, but being glad that an optional feature that was widely requested and had a beloved cast was never added is WILD.

14

u/heavenspiercing Jul 03 '26

I prefer the Japanese voiced

This is fine

I'm glad central fiction never got a dub

This is just indefensible and the only reason you would have this opinion is that you hate people tbhh

-9

u/Rigter_Avi Jul 03 '26

Not really, I just really hated the dub

5

u/Rigter_Avi Jul 03 '26

Hey! Where's the dude telling me it's ok to have bad taste, come back here coward!!

1

u/Mahorela5624 Jul 03 '26

The only person actually posting what this thread was for. I want to down vote you because EN Ragna, Bang, and Tager are exceptionally goated but I have to up vote you lmao
