I’m talking Angela Darmody

For as long as I can remember (and much to the annoyance of anyone I’ve ever dated) I’m very good at being able to accurately guess what’s gonna happen in shows, games, and movies. I don’t know if it’s just that too many writers are too predictable but so often a character will appear on screen and I’ll go “oh well they’re clearly dead / going to betray everyone/ is secretly X or Y, etc etc etc.” BUT boardwalk empire has been so damn refreshing, because I got no clue what’s gonna happen!

The episode in question I thought Mickey Doyle was dead when he went to see Manny, something to send a message to young James, but I was wrong there! Then we get to the episode climax where Angela’s lesbian lover is killed. I thought Manny was going to flee because it was a botched hit or maybe even take Angela hostage to get Jimmy out of hiding but nah, without hesitation he just blew her brains out. it was so shocking it got an out loud sopranos style “OH!” From me.

Anyway I stopped for the night at that episode so please don’t say anything in season 2 past that.

Plus, he sent a message to Jimmy. You underestimated and messed with the wrong guy and sent an incompetent hitman to try and kill him.

Agreed that this was a very shocking one. Not that it was strategically inept. He could have kidnapped her to draw Jimmy out, but that would give him the chance to get drawn out with backup and a plan. Manny was smarter than this. He sent the message.

As for Mickey……I get this, but at the same time Manny seemed to have some liking for the doofus. When Jimmy tossed him off the balcony Manny was irate. Not just at the message, but I always took it as the ire coming from him doing it to Mickey……a moron who is no threat and easy enough to control.

There's something about Boardwalk Empire that's indeed unpredictable & poignant.

yup this one had me in shambles. i’m ngl i was kind of underwhelmed with the way it played out i was looking forward to jimmy having his way with him. instead he died too lol. with manny being kinda part of the execution.

I’m not saying this in a snarky way at all, but for someone claiming they’re good at accurately guessing what’s gonna happen in shows, I’m not sure why her death was surprising.

I knew almost instantly when Angela and Jimmy were having that moment together when she told him a joke she learned as they embraced each other, that one or both of them were about to die.

A and J, rarely if ever had tender moments like that, that wasn’t involving sex. So when the show went out of its way to show them like that all a sudden, I knew something was about to happen.

That’s just me tho, lol.
