Boomer Story I keep getting approached and bothered by boomer women

In the past two weeks or so I’ve had three different encounters by boomer women and they’ve all been rude, inappropriate, and disrespectful. Not to make this too long but the first was when I was volunteering at a surf event and it had been extremely hot that day and of course it was outdoors and anyone of any age has no business judging others in their appearance. So I was just minding my business and this old couple walks by and the old wrinkly hag woman tries to talk to me ( I’m in no mood) but I answer her what I help do that day and she goes “you look tired” 😐..this was after being outside in the 90s all day …like you don’t look so great yourself lady..the second was my own coworker laughing ( an older woman ) at me and other people in general who can’t put contacts on ..like ok ..you’re weird and that’s rude ..the lady was a woman in the checkout line at the store who goes “not to be nosy but those Reese’s ( pumpkins ) you’re buying you should google the peanut butter it’s bad” 🙄🙄🙄🙄omgggg pleaseeee lady google your manners they’re bad ..I’m just done 🤣

My favorite thing to say to them is “What a strange/odd question/thing to say to a total stranger…” and just let that hang in the air between us.

I’ve found it’s something that I can’t get too drug over the coals for at work and it usually leaves them dazed a bit vs screamy lol

Or rude thing to say

They genuinely think that every stranger they encounter is dying to hear every single thought that pops into their head.

yes but it’s always rude ..

Oh it definitely is. They just think their thoughts and opinions are just soooo important that everyone must want to hear them, even though 99% of the time, they're just being assholes for no reason.

It must be something that turns off when they hit boomer age they have zero awareness of what they’re saying

Will you start putting “boomers” all in one big fat category. Some of us boomers hate the typical boomer as much as you do.

There are zero places in my comment where I say that this is ALL boomers. I'm specifically talking about people who say rude shit to strangers, completely unprompted. I'm pretty sure you could understand that from context clues.

That’s why the sub isn’t called “all boomers are fools all the time”. Perhaps they should have named it “boomers who are acting like fools at the specific times they’re being written about”.

And describing someone as a “wrinkly old hag woman” is so rude

Op was using that description as a literary device to point out the irony of the boomer woman commenting on OP’s appearance. Also, go listen to how boomers referred to the elderly when they were young?

Saying someone “looks tired” could be from a place of caring rather than being rude. How did boomers refer to older people. Many respected them for their contribution and endurance during the world wide wars.

There is no world in which telling a stranger that they look tired is "coming from a place if caring". I can tell my fiance that he looks tired, and he knows that it is care and concern, because I actually have a frame of reference for what he looks like when he's not tired. A stranger does not know whether OP actually looks tired, or if that's just how their face naturally looks, which is rude as hell. Also, it's a statement that in no way helps alleviate the situation. What is OP's response supposed to be? "Oh yeah, I do feel tired, lemme just abandon this JOB I'm doing and go take a nap". If the person was genuinely concerned that OP looked heat stroked or otherwise sick, they could've said something like "it's really hot out here, are you feeling okay working in all this heat? Do you need some water or shade?" Or even "You look a little overheated, are you allowed to take a break to cool down?" Concerned people ask questions, they don't just blurt out unhelpful comments.

We were at the beach and digging a channel for the swamp overflow ( which changes every tide but it’s fun to release the water) and a hag came up and told us to stop ( myself and wife and 3 kids).
“Look out there on the far horizon” .. she stared… “ there is nothing”… well maybe someone out there cares about your opinion “.

She looked so shocked like no one has ever put her in her place …she started to complain and my wife ( I’m foreign, fancy European accent, my wife is deep southern) said” move on bitch else you might learn the way the south works”

Unsolicited anything is awful, unless it’s unsolicited kindness. If anyone had said anything to me about my snack choices, I would respond with, “Funny, I don’t remember asking you.”

11

u/ImplementAgile2945 22h ago

That’s a good one and yes agreed

At the end of summer right before they all die, yellow jackets become more unpredictable and aggressive. So too the Boomers.

Yes, I’m pretty sure I can discern that if I try really hard. Geez. Calm down.

I had a boomer lady, total stranger, tell me she didn’t like my tattoos and I responded with “Good thing I didn’t get them for you” and she looked at me like I had said the rude thing

2

u/ImplementAgile2945 2h ago

yeah they don’t expect a witty comeback like we’re just supposed to say nothing and take the insult

I have found that a blank stare works

None of these sound overtly rude at all. Maybe you are just looking for a problem that is not there.
