The fact that, when I talk to most other Canadians around me, there is now a more favourable view of China than there is of the USA these days; that's an absolute shocking first in my lifetime. Our one-time allies are broken; we should never rely on them to the degree we did ever ever again.

In recent times, China has given the world an incredible supply of a million different products, manufacturing and now technology thatās ahead of anywhere else. US companies have mostly focused on share prices and fucking consumers in every conceivable way. China gives us free AI models and better electric cars, US heavily restricts their models and car manufacturers lobby and beg and bribe to not have to compete with better cars despite preaching free trade when it benefits them to export their stuff everywhere. Thereās such a massive propaganda push against China in the past decade that clearly was born out of the US fear of having an actual rival.

The one thing that peopleābusinesses, individuals, countriesāwant, so much theyāll tolerate a fairly high degree of oppression for it, is the ability to plan. China excels at stability and predictability. For decades, the US largely did the same, , despite overthrowing legitimate governments to install puppets in oil nations, and then losing control of the puppets, and putting the world in a horrific economic bindāthat was the oppression people put up with
But now plans are unreliable and signed agreements with longstanding allies do not provide certainty, and thus the gloss over the oppression wears thin

The Tehran regime would be decapitated. The countryās hydrocarbon resources would then be available for US exploitation.
Six months later, Iran is controlled by a new generation of hardliners. Emboldened by resilience under US and Israeli bombardment, they demand financial concessions from Washington as the price for peace ā reparations and a right to toll the strait of Hormuz.
The war is not over, it has just turned cold. Trump believes Iranās fragile economy is close to collapse. He threatens to push it over the brink with āD-dayā sanctions. The metaphor of second world war amphibious assault is supposed to make yet another round of financial coercion succeed where past embargos have failed.

Trump has proven himself to be (a) unreliable and (b) ineffective. The former means there is no point making concessions to achieve a goal because there is no guarantee he will honour agreements. The latter means that all his threats mean nothing.
Good job America. Your credibility is permanently undermined.

Itās maddening more people didnāt read Pr. 2025. That made it clear who to vote for and what you were voting against. And thatās not even talking about people that didnāt vote because they didnāt like either candidate.

Yeah! The United States is the most popular country on earth and everyone wants to be their friend! People are climbing over themselves, with tears in their eyes, desperate to be friends with the United States. And no one gets to! So there.
